The Desire is said to be a T-Mobile phone in Europe....and T-Mobile in the US is getting the HD2....What is going on with Verizon....why is there no news on new phones for Verizon in the USA???
I am ticked...all these beautiful phones and Verizon does not seem to get any....for a WHILE

Here is my speculation. I suspect there is more to come. Off course Verizon will be getting the Nexus One. There are rumours of a HTC incredible heading to Verizon. Hopefully the HTC supersonic is real and that is what is going to eventually make Sprint customers happy.
Did anyone notice if it has some sort of notification system, like the glowing trackball on Nexus?
I've become accostumed to being able to see if anything interesting has happened, without having to turn on the display.
Maybe the center "lens" of the optical trackpad is what glows? that's one thing we haven't seen in the vids yet...
while i acknowledge the mechanical limitation of the trackball (it will wear out eventually), I really like the glowing notification it provides... like a glowing org of knowledge
Okay i did some googling here in my art appreciation class
if Vodafone is getting the nexus one in the spring...and they are getting this phone in April
wouldn't this be considered their version of the Nexus?
It's like my droid eris is basically the european hero & the sprint hero with a different look but overall the same phone
so i'm thinking the nexus one will be the htc incredible for verizon
it's kind of like the sprint/t-mobile/verizon/unlocked touchpro 2...isnt the tilt 2 the same thing?
Some interesting points from that slide show:
+ It mentions being HD recording "ready"
+ Shows video being recorded and then posted to youtube in HD
+ Mentions DivX support
+ Mentions 320Mb RAM
These are all interesting because they are not what was mentioned today at HTC's press conference. The 320Mb RAM in the slide show is probably evidence that slides are dated and maybe along with upping the ram they also decided to drop divx and HD support for the time being.
There was also this pic showing the red inner shell in the slides that pretty much confirms this as the coolest phone in the world:
You are correct, it seems to be not quite up to date.
From what I understood, it will not have 720p from the get-go, but it will be activated in a software update. And yes, the red innards look awesome

that's very interesting. How do u know about the software update? And why not have it activated from the get go?
SO, it's known as the HTC Desire, and it's basically a N1 with optical trackpad and sense, but without dual microphone. I'm still getting it though.
I don't think you'll miss the dual microphone ANC. I was saying in another post that millions upon millions of cell phones are sold without ANC and no one's really noticed it being missing. It wasn't until the DROID and N1 that ANC grew to be a key feature. But I don't think it's a "make or break" feature. Like I said in the other post, tens of millions of iPhones are sold and those consumers aren't saying, "Oh crap! No dual mics. Better not buy it." Besides, many of us end up picking up BT headsets that already do NC; even if the N1/DROID do NC, they don't do it over BT.
The Desire is a sweet phone. Let's hope it doesn't have the 3G issues the N1 has and being on a carrier, it'll be better supported. But I do agree with the updating. It likely won't be updated as quickly as other Android phones being equipped with Sense. But Sense, like it or not, definitely enhances the UX. With 576MB of RAM and a 1GHz Snap, there won't be the kind of lag that we're used to seeing with Sense phones.
It's in Danish and doesn't really say much, other than the fact that they asked the HTC guys whether it had 720, and they gave the answer that the hardware is there, but just needs an update.

Desire and N1 both have 5MP cams. Does this mean that the hardware is there for the N1 also to enabled 720p recording with a software update?
anybody noticed that the phone lacks an animation on the flip clock/weather widget. And what's the deal not showing any weather animation like the hd2. Oh well, doesnt bother me as much.

What i dont get is why does the back look spray painted? It also still calls it bravo in the powerpoint? May it release somewhere else as the bravo? it also says mid march but everything i have been seeing is late march... it also might have been set up before they made the final decissions so i dont know more then ne one else just some of my thoughts
I did find a video last night where they took the back off and it wasn't red, that image kinda looks like a render anyway imo.
But the HTC hd mini does have a yellow back under the batt cover in the flesh so maybe the desire will be red when it comes out? Also if you look in the image above there's a red 'accent' around the camera which hasn't appeared on demo units.
Which makes me wonder why it's so much more expensive
the advertising... you think all those fancy videos are free?
oh, and i'm sure the carriers are taking their huge cut...
the red is just to highlight the inside... there's no way the production one is red - that's probably just a p-shop job anyways... open up a nexus one and you'll understand - all the metal bits like the sd card holder - and the little speaker felt piece - none of that would be red... so it's not "real"....

Nexus one has the qualcomm chip 8250 which has 720p recording built in. They will probably release software update later. They have their hands full of trying to get the nexus one to stay on 3g instead of rolling out the 720p recording. Us verizon people need the qualcomm 8650 chip in a phone for this.
Device(s): Current: Samsung Galaxy S3 with su root.

of course the 8672 would be even better!
8672 would make the phone incredible! That one will probably go in the supersonic. I could still see Verizon getting the supersonic. They did use a stealth fighter in tv ad. Why not use a supersonic jet? This chip will be out probably in Nov.
Verizon is smoking a big spliff with feet up on the desk waiting for sales on Eris and Droid to start sloping downward a bit. Just an educated guess. They've got two good well-selling Android phones; why relegate them to the bargain bin when there's more $ to be extracted relative to advertising and placement? Seems like they have never been very concerned about getting new or really high-end stuff on their shelf.
I've been ready to move on an Eris but...I'm just going to wait it out. They still wont' release the 2.1 upgrade for Eris which seems like a no-brainer to keep that device selling well. If we weren't locked into 2 yr contracts (and don't want to front $600) it would be simpler. With Desire/Supersonic/Dragon/Passion/N1 in the rumor zone...I'll wait for something real to hit the shelf. Probably nothing's going to get real until summer given the lack of enthusiasm or action from V.
Personally I think the BOGO is fairly worthless.
Your wife saves the $80 locked-device cost if she signs up and gets a $100+/month voice and data plan for two years. As well as yours. Big deal.
I don't know how people do it; husband and wife with (usually) their kids on a plan too...you're looking at a monthly cost that's equivalent to a car payment!
They're trying to push them here in the UK, and no one's taking them. 18 months between handsets, or being tied to a network (as our handsets are subsidised quite heavily - we rarely pay for them), is long enough!

Because only one company (TMobile) has a plan for unsubsidized phones. Everyone else you pay the same whether you got a discounted phone or not, so why not take the discount and the contract.
The HTC Desire is one of the latest high end phone by HTC bringing a huge 3.7" inch high quality AMOLED screen for crystal clear viewing, powered by a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and runs on, you guessed it, Android.
