I'm looking at you Droid DNA. I really thought I was going to jump all over the RAZR Maxx HD but I wanted to wait for user reviews. Now I need you all to buy this phone and test it for me
Definitely an intriguing device. I have always liked HTC phones. Of course, I really like the way Moto is going with their MAXX line. Hopefully the battery in this one is respectable...

Same here. Looking forward to the head to head comparisons which should be coming Real Soon Now.

I definitely hope so. If the battery life is terrible and non removable, Galaxy Note 2 here I come. I've been really looking forward to this device.
So I'll be the first to ask...is there going to be an "HTC DROID DNA" dedicated board at AF? Perhaps after the 11/13 event?
Yeah it should still be this board just renamed. Af can't keep changing board names based on rumors. I'm sure ought after the announcement they will change the name relatively soon.

Good point, I've requested in suggestions forum to get this forum renamed as the name is all but confirmed at this point
the press conference is Tuesday, but verizon is doing consumer unveiling on the 19th on their google + site. The phone is now on their droid does site.

I hear that. I have a pre order in for the note 2, but i will be heading to Verizon to check this out before making a final decision. I do miss LCD screens, so as long as this phone doesn't have battery life issues, I'll have a tough choice to make.

I think we will all be really surprised by the battery life

Yeah the Incredible was great, but the EVO was a huge success as well. I have to say the HTC One X was really nice, battery life was alright, sucked it was locked down on ATT though.

I am anxiously awaiting the announcement though.
True dat.
The Incredible was the first of it's kind really (besides the HTC Nexus just released, which no one bought, lol)
The EVO didn't really bring anything new to the table (for me) the One series, while great, #1 weren't available on VZW and #2 didn't have anything that wow'd me. Though again, since they weren't on my carrier I never gave them a moments thought, except to complain that they had newer version of sense compared to my Rezound...

The DROID DNA by HTC is a game-changer IMO
SOOOOOOOOOOO can't wait till Tuesday
Yeah I agree with most of that. I was on Verizon when the Incredible came out and I got it on release day, it was truly an awesome phone. But wasn't the EVO the first android phone with a 4.3 inch screen? Isn't that what made Steve Jobs throw a hissy fit saying no one would want a screen that big? I'm not sure, but I was thinking it was.
I totally agree with you about if phones aren't on your carrier then usually they are not as big as a deal, but for me I switch carriers a lot just to play with new phones.
This phone is going to be great, it would be absolutely perfect if it was a Nexus device with at least a 3,000 mah battery, but if it is 2500 mah it should be fine. I will live without it being a Nexus, but it would have been nice.

Very true about the Evo. But like I said, I was 'meh' about since it was sprint and the size was the only thing it had on the Inc.
That said, I'm thinking I heard it was a 2020mah battery, same as the J. Which I think will be sufficient with the efficient quad-core cpu.
Also will be shipping with JB apparently.
While I don't think the hype will be as huge as if it was a nexus device I still think this is a MUST have phone. (for me at least)

Honestly this late in the game anything with a battery smaller than 2500MaH is unacceptable. Motorola and Samsung have both shown you can put a large battery in a slim phone.

we wont know what the battery required is until we know how efficient the new display tech is and the new quad core processor is. Judging from what I know, I think this may be the first one htc truly hits a home run with. With the right marketing and (sales person incentive that beats samsung's), it will do well.

You guys are freaking me out! Now I'm getting all excited about this. My first Android was a Thunderbolt and well...
I actually didn't mind Sense but that battery life kept me away from Rezound. But there is something about this device that's keeping me from jumping on a non-subsidized RAZR HD. Here's to hoping for a mega battery.
I agree, a MAXX size battery would be a game changer. I'm watching this phone with a lot of interest, although I don't have an upgrade until May (or March if I give up unlimited.)
Here's one of the articles that points to a 2500mah battery. It was from the person that was initially leaking the photos a few weeks back.
Unfortunately I think AC got it wrong. I expect something around the SGS3 size of 2100

True, but I'm thinking the quad-core being more efficient will make this out perform the SGS3 battery either way

Sounds nice but as long as the code, ie sense gets better than battery life will improve without any other changes. The 1600 in the rezound was horrible, but I HATE the bulkiness of the 2750 I am using... a 2100 would be the perfect medium for me

Don't quote me but I'm pretty sure you can transfer your upgrade to a different line, use the upgrade for a phone, then activate it on your line and keep your unlimited....

Right, there's no way to know for sure until tomorrow, but ac seemed to just be reporting the specs that were given to them by the tipster. While i agree that the processor, ui combo might make a 2100mah battery sufficient, i would like something that lasts longer than the gs3. With the 1080p display, there's no way you'll see "great" battery life with only a 2100. I've never had a phone that can make it through a whole day on a single charge, which is why the note 2 is so enticing.

Gets you a DNA sooner
Haha, yeah, I already have two lines I activated to do this. The next upgrade available is on my unlimited line, in March. Then one of my "extra" lines comes due in May. Had one last month, but my wife's phone had issues, so used it to get her a RAZR M.

I disagree, ask me why in 2 hours

Not to thread derail again but you should be able to transfer the upgrade from the unlimited line to a different one, then get phone and transfer it back to yours. Its a loop hole I suppose but one that works I'm told (from vzw CSR)
Today should be an interesting day, I'm giddy like a school girl.
I am too. I will be getting a new phone after thanksgiving. I have really enjoyed my Dinc...
BUT:
1) I have the unlimited data plan (since 2010) and concerned Ill lose it. I cant ever seem to get a straight answer from anybody at Verizon about how it all works. Each time the story is slightly different.
2) Battery life. I have an Original Dinc and get about two days out of it...but that has been slowly slipping the last month as I think my battery is fading. I know with the new gen phones being much larger screens that kind of life is not going to easily happen. Sitting it in a dock doesnt bother me but when I am onsite, I need it to go at LEAST 12-16 hours without being an issue. In those sites I do turn off BT, WiFI and other radios that I know will not connect to anything.
3) Radio. I travel to a lot of po-dunk places for work (read in the middle of NOWHERE) and my Dinc does well; So it needs to be the same radio wise.
4) Reliable. My Dinc has been a rock really with only one time of chaos that was user inflicted.
Its between this and the S3 for me really. And the S3 has "reported" radio weaknesses...but I have not experiences them first hand.

Well my CSR said that DOESN't WORK. The contract is extended on the line with the original upgrade, regardless if you transfer it to a different line. And contract extension = end of unlimited. Of course, I talked to a VZW CSR, you talked to one, so combined we know nothing, par for the course it seems

This is my huge beef. The story is never the same. Some are great customer oriented CSR's and get around the Vrz redtape; others quote the company line and some are just clueless. But once you sign a piece of paper; regardless of the story you are stuck with the outcome..

If you get 2 days out other Incredible (stock battery?) then you won't be disappointed in this phone. The battery is around 700mah bigger than the Inc

I really shouldn't be watching this unveiling today... Bad for my impulsive buying habit . Watching the DL live blog, comments seem to mimic mine, a MAXXish battery and this phone will be a beast.

Hopefully you guys will be updating this thread with the goods as the roll out happens.
You know it! There may be some extra leaked info as well!
HTC has broken the boundaries again with the DROID DNA. This 5-inch behemoth comes to compete directly with the Galaxy Note 2, but what gives it the edge over the popular Samsung device? Well, this guy has a full HD 1080p display. Mix that with a p... Read More
