Just to be clear, I love this phone and would recommend it, but I figured I would start a pet peeve thread anyway. Who knows, maybe your pet peeve is fixable, I hope mine is.
My pet peeve may be more about android than the phone itself:
When I return to gmail or the google play store, it's on the last email or app I was looking at instead of the home page. Grrr.
Device(s): HTC Droid DNA, iPAD 3 (yes I know :-) , I have a XOOM too)

Yeah, I think of that as a feature - multitasking - and not a negative. That said, I have a few niggles on the DNA, though I love it as well.
- The notification light. It is sooooo tiny and not RGB.
- Volume overall. It is not very loud - earpiece and speakerphone. Not awful, definitely not great though.
- That damn power button. It's in a terribly unreachable spot for 1 handed use and too flush with the phone. Definitely a form over function choice all around there IMO
I love the phone. I really had to think about it to come up with negatives.

Curses for asking........ but......... and these are piddly observations (what kind of a word is piddly anyway.....) agree that the overall volume of notification is a bit modest but I have yet to download any notification of apps which may address this....... the location of said power button not a locational issue for me own big hands but for some reason my power button needs to be held down with a very hard press and hold to fire up the beast which is, but oddly enough, exactly, the same as my former Rezound...... coming from a BB years ago...... well hardly anything matches those huge land your 747 plane right here bright flashers......
I actually don't mind the Wifi notification, because I am constantly turning it off and on, and its an easy place to do that...
1. So many games aren't compatible with it right now. Not the phone's fault, and will be fixed over time, but my favorite game force closes every time right now.
2. Capacitive buttons are so close to the bottom of the screen, I find my palm ends up triggering one while reaching for middle letters in landscape mode, and the letters won't type as a result.
3. Shutter sound on camera is too quiet. I am sure I can fix this if I try though.

I'll add another niggle. That damn persistent Wifi notification in the drop down...
Lol, at first I too thought that was annoying. But then afterwards I kind of consider that a good thing if I forget that I'm in an area with WiFi for the sake of the battery.
On a side note, is there anyway to change the keyboard?

Biggest pet peeve EVER!!!~!!!!!
EVERY!!! time I use navigation it asks me if I want to use VZW navigator or Google Nav. I pick Google everytime, click the 'always use this' (or however it is worded) and it still asks me every time.
I even have vzw nav disabled.... Makes me want to scream

Yes, just download a alternate keyboard from the play store and enable it in 'settings>language & keyboards' then click in a text box (which brings keyboard up) and in the notification window there should be a choose input method option.

This must be intentional, because I started seeing the same thing on my Rezound a few months ago. Highly irritating.

Hm, I haven't seen this happen to me yet. How are you trying to get to Navigation? It launched Google Navigation for me from the Maps interface directly, etc ...
I was trolling through this list and was going to add this and then saw you already did. I've been on the road all week using this phone and EVERY TIME I tell it to navigate somewhere it asks me that question. WHAT IS THE POINT OF HAVING THE "Always Use This" option?!?!?! This is a straight up FRUSTRATING bug. Pisses me off every time it comes up, which is every time you tell it to navigate to a location.

I pressed the navigation icon, pressed navigate to home, the pop-up for choose program showed up, I chose navigation and always, then went into apps, all apps, VZW NAV, and pressed disable. After that, I haven't been prompted again.
Coming from a smaller, slower OG Incredible, auto rotate wasn't an issue. If I wanted portrait it would say in portrait, if I wanted landscape, it would stay in landscape. The DNA is much bigger and I have small hands and trying to walk and browse with ONE hand is much more difficult. I need to bounce and slide the phone up and down my hand trying to hit links and thus causing it to auto rotate to landscape because it's so quick to respond when it's turned even so slightly.

Tried launching it several different ways. ONCE and a while it doesn't ask. All the other times it does...
I use nav a lot and this bugs the crap out of me
(I have vzw nav hidden, which maybe isn't the same as disabled... Will check that now)

Friggin' power button should die and rot in hell. A mentally challenged infant chimpanzee couldn't have made this any more of an ergonomic nightmare. How the hell does HTC manufacture such a beautiful instrument only to make it virtually impossible to turn on and off?
It's like Ferarri putting skinny, high profile $60 tires on a 600 hp supercar.
Have I mentioned how much I HATE the POS power button?
Still haven't figured out how to get videos from my computer on to my DNA. I even tried the HTC Sync Manager. Instructions in the HTC manual are vague. The fact that I'm using a mac could have something to do with my problems.
I had Verizon Navigation hidden, and in the location services I had Verizon Navigation unchecked (with Google and "stand alone" both checked), but I had NOT gone in to the Verizon Navigator app through the setup application and specifically DISABLED it. I didn't know you should do that, and in truth you shouldn't have to. But I'm glad it worked. Thanks for the tip. Much appreciated

Verizon location services is different from VZ Nav. That is actually using cell triangulation to help locate you... I would leave all those activated to get the most accurate location lock.

I was just coming here to say the same thing! Doe!
The email on this phone is awful. Mainly the FONT size is to big, even with it selected on small its still huge once a email is sent out, almost size 14+ on a normal PC when its received. Needs to be a option to reduce the font size within email that actually works.

Using the standard mail client is great for me. My sent e-mails do not appear too big on a PC at all. Not sure what is causing this for you, sorry.

No Full-text search of emails, quick settings in notification area.
I can't believe this is the only Android version that doesn't have full-text search of emails (you can only search the To address, From address or Subject line). And what kills me is that it was removed since they had it on the One X series. It seems that while Samsung and Google have been improving their software, HTC has actually been removing some of the features that made it cool.
Another one is the quick settings tab that used to be in the drop down notification curtain. Now there is just a settings button.
I always like the previous apps list too that was on the Thunderbolt in the notification area as it was easier/faster to use than google's implementation.
I think their peak was during Gingerbread, Touchwiz, which I used to hate as buggy now has better features as far as I'm concerned, especially the new phone/dialer interface on the G'note2. I don't think HTC has updated their since Gingerbread. I'll give them one +, their dialer allows you to start spelling out a contact name on the keypad to bring them up and neither Sammy's or google's does that, yet.
I can't believe Verizon changed the backs of the DNA's from what was originally released as the HTC J Butterfly in Japan. If you look at those pictures the phones look like artwork. I never owned a DInc or Rezound, which I realize had the same backs, but after a week of use the back of my DNA looks like crap as I can't seem to clean the fingerprint smudges off of it. I also don't think it provides much of an improvement in grip-ability over the polycarbonate gloss or matte finishes used by prior HTC or Nokia phones that have looked much better.
I'm really thinking about returning my DNA, how can the hardware be so fantastic but the software (except battery optimization) and changes by Verizon be so dreadful.
The graphics display is wonderful, better than any other phone, but anyone else noticing some apps seem to have issues with the resolution or something?
The Nokia charging stand ($69 unfortunately) works with this phone, even through a Verizon case that I bought. (The hard plastic one with the kickstand and holster which I don't use.) I prop it up at night and use it as my alarm clock. I just wish the nav buttons would turn off in the Gentle Alarm app. This way I don't have to bother with the USB port unless I need to charge in the car for trips.
I use "Firefox Mobile For Android". When I click the "+" tab to look at my Bookmarks Folders, the Keyboard shows up. How to stop that? I'm not sure if that's a Firefox thing or a setting on the DNA.
Also
Not looking for sympathy, but I came from a TBolt which had a the ability to zoom (spreading two fingers apart on the screen) deeper into the page that the DNA does. The DNA Maximum Zoom is about half that of TBolt. Any remedy?
Lol how is this for a pet peeve: AT&T released a similarly speced HTC One X+...with 64 gigs of on board storage for 199.00! Not feeling the love right now!

Except it doesn't have the best feature of the DNA, that oh so amazing screen.

Thanks to all you Androidians.
Actually it has the same zoom. But due to the extreme resolution of the DNA screen it seems like less. This may need to be addressed in the app itself to allow for higher res screens....

The oleophobic coating on the screen is great at repelling fingerprints, but it's made the screen so slippery that it will eventually slide off any surface that isn't perfectly level if I place it face down. In some cases shelves and tables that I thought were level turned out to have almost imperceptible inclines.
I was in the habit of placing my phones face down because the previous ones had camera lenses that protruded quite a bit, and I didn't want to damage the lens. Trying to break that habit, but it's a challenge.
In a couple weeks my DNA has fallen more times than my previous three phones, combined, ever did. Fortunately it's well-built and is none the worse for wear.

I had this same thing happen to me. Put it somewhere, turned around, next thing I know its on the ground. My screen protector should be here soon, that will solve that issue.
I have one. They switched the "enter" button from the lower left to the lower right on the password screen to unlock...lol. i am constantly deleting the last character rather than hitting enter.
I tried to use the OTG cable last night. It worked, but all my apps decided not to work again after I unplugged the cable until I restarted the phone .
HTC has broken the boundaries again with the DROID DNA. This 5-inch behemoth comes to compete directly with the Galaxy Note 2, but what gives it the edge over the popular Samsung device? Well, this guy has a full HD 1080p display. Mix that with a p... Read More
