Default headset setting?
what is that headset/earphone icon on the top of my phone set for? what is it and how do I change/shut it off?

if it is a headphone I believe that means you have earphones plugged in. If it is something that looks like an ear with sound coming out you may have inadvertently turned on the setting for hearing aid. Go to settings >call > uncheck hearing hearing aid

This is a two year old thread, I'm pretty sure he ran out of ideas a loooooong time ago.

Anyhow, try plugging in and unplugging some headphones on the phone. Sometimes something just gets "stuck" for some reason.
