Default Switching Back from Google Voice

Don't burn me at the stake, but I want to switch back from Google Voice, but when I switch to carrier voicemail, it asks for a voicemail number, which I assumed was my phone number, but when I enter that, calling voicemail just goes to voicemail, as if someone called me.

My reason for switching is because the SMS feature is about 25% accurate and when I turned that off, I stopped getting sotifications that I had received a Voicemail.

my roommate had a problem with his regular phone numbers voicemail going to the google voice voicemail. he found some settings on the gvoice website that allowed him to fix it. so it might not be a carrier thing, maybe more of a gvoice thing.

google.com/voice, click on the settings drop down on top right and click voice settings. Down below you should see your number and click "Deactivate google voicemail on this phone"
