If i set it to 2g, can i still use Internet?
What does switching to 2g when phone is asleep,?
And if i set it to sleep, will i still get updates from fb, gv, etc?
2G has internet access. As long as you see the 1X indicator. However, it will be miserably slow (its pretty close to dial-up speed-wise).
When your phone's asleep, its basically in a low power mode. The processor goes slower in order to save battery. All your cell phone service connectivity and such is still active and things are still running on your phone. So yes, you will still get updates and such, just as long as you haven't set it to turn off the internet while it sleeps.
In my experience, no. Under constant use, they both drain the battery the same amount (3G possibly slightly more). And possibly, 2G might even drain it more since the phone will constantly look for a 3G signal. I don't know why you want to go on 2G anyway. It miserably slow for anything other than phone calls or plain text messages.
You can simply disable 3G, and the phone shouldn't look for 3G(saving you that engergy). The will hunt for 3G if the option is on, but it can't hit a 3G tower.

Though, Bluetooth is VERY power hungry despite being much lower powered.

Technically speaking, we dont have 2g. We have 1x, and then EVDO. 1x is somewhat of a 2g technology, but its not a different radio. EvDo, as its simply a software update to the modems, is available ANYWHERE that Verizon has 1x. The only places you would be able to use 1x is if you were in a very iffy signal location, where the speed at which your phone can communicate with the tower is so low that EvDo cant kick in, or while roaming on sprints towers. There is no actual way to enable 2g only like you can on GSM phones, and since its the same radio, it uses the same power, so theres no benefit in turning 2g only on anyway with a CDMA phone. 1x will actually cause your battery to drain FASTER, if anything, due to it having to stay active longer to download your data.
When you turn off 3g on the phone, you are actually turning off mobile data, not EvDo. As in, your phone wont attempt to connect to the internet via Verizon over the cell network. It uses 1x in that case for calls and texts only.
