Default Problem Syncing with Outlook

I am having a NEW problem syncing with MSOutlook. I have had the Eris for 7 or 8 months and have always been able to sync. I now get a sync "fail message."

I tried re-downloading the tool to my PC from the HTC website and that still did not work.

I assume that I can do a factory reset, but that is not my desire.

Anybody else having problem or have solutions?

I've had that happen a couple of times. Usually a reboot of the phone & PC fixes things. If not, try deleting the sync relationship between the phone & PC by:
  • Go to Settings, Applications, Manage Applications
  • Delete the data in Calendar Storage and Contact Storage
  • Delete the data in PC Sync
  • Reboot the phone
  • Open HTC Sync on the PC and go to Tools, Phone Monitor Options, and delete your phone.
  • When you switch to HTC Sync on your phone you'll be prompted on your PC to add your phone
Hopefully this will work for you

Thanks XENE.

I think your suggestion solved part of the problem. For some reason my connection is timing out. 560 of 1932 contacts synced and it did not get to calendar.

I will keep playing with it.

Well right after I typed up the instructions I decided to sync my phone. I also received a "fail" but I think it was because of a bad USB cable. I had been using the same cable for about a month and noticed that I had more and more problems with the phone suddenly unmounting itself. Switched over to my stock one and I'm amazed at how much faster and more stable everything is.

I have tried everything. It does about a 1/4 of the contacts and then says, "Connection to Mobile Phone Timed Out."

This is driving me nuts.

I would try using a different USB port (one not attached to a hub) and a different cable.

Tried. No luck. Think a factory reset would work?

Couldn't hurt. Only problem is that if you have Contacts & Calendar items on your phone you won't be able to save them. If it is only Contacts that have modifications you can go the menu & export them to the SD card.

Contact and Calendar are on My PC. So, I would be OK, presumably. I have posed the question on the HTC board.

Sorry for being off topic, guys.

Any other app that sync contacts and calender in the outlook 2007 other than HTC Sync? I mean off-line PC sync that only requires a usb cable, and it must be a free app. Just curious...

I can confirm the cable CAN make a difference. My wife had all kinds off issues, then we tried a new cable and now it always works.
