Default Missing Apps in Market

Some apps do not show up when I search for them in the Android Market. Does anyone know why this happens on the Droid Eris and is there a way around it?

Two of the apps that don't appear are:
Primospot
NPR Podcasts

Thanks

And you had them installed on your Eris previously? I did a search and the Market did not find them, I guess its possible that they are no longer available for the Eris.

You'd think that Google would have a good search functionality in the market given they are the search king. However, the search function sucks in the market, especially on Android 1.5. So if you want to make sure you find the app you are looking for, download barcode scanner, then google search to find the app you are looking for (outside the market). Locate the barcode for the app and scan it in. You'll be directed to the app. It's the most foolproof way to find the app. Just because you can't find it in the market doesn't mean it's not there.

I can't get ANY bar code apps to work on 2D codes. UPC codes work fine. What's the trick? On all pgms the camera tries to focus multiple times but NEVER lock on to the code. Help.

Another app missing from the Eris' market is the Elite (pay) version of WeatherBug. I've been in contact with them and they say they are aware of the issue and are working to get it fixed, but they don't know when that might be. The free (ad-supported) version shows up just fine.

Weatherbug???? eBuddy???? Phhhht Remedial applications, at best. Let's talk about a highly critical search engine app ...

Beer Hero is supposed to be in the Market and is not. I even did the search through my desktop, found the barcode, scanned it in and got the ole "Could not find"

What exact app are folks using to scan the 2D codes? Every one I've tried on the Hero and Eris do not work. Gotta be operator error but I can can get the UPC scan mode to work perfectly with the same apps. Help....

Guys (and gals): Check your Market. This issue appears to be fixed. I saw a note about this being fixed in the Hero forums, and thought I'd check my phone (an Eris) just by chance. SURE ENOUGH, it has! There were 3 apps I could not find before and now they exist. I searched for some of the apps posted in this thread that people were not able to find and I can find them all now.

I don't think it's as much added as whatever problem that prevented certain non 2.0 devices from seeing apps was fixed.

I find this a real pain I'm still missing some apps on market on 1.5 hero
Just looked for Google inc apps and there's 2 missing plus search by voice has been gone for awhile.

Not much fun to lose a feature you had days before

If you have the free one installed, open it, press menu and press "Upgrade to Elite". This takes you to the app in the marketplace.

Yes, that works *now* -- but not last week when I original wrote about it . In between then and now, as I posted elsewhere in the thread, this has been fixed.

This issue is actually with some copy-protected flag set by the developers. It doesn't matter if its free or paid... if the flag is set, the program will not show in the market for the Eris or Hero. Some programs are back on the market because the developers changed this flag and re-posted the app. There is some side effect to this flag, but I dont understand what it entails. From what I understand, this is an HTC issue with the device ids of the phones.

This flag is important in some fashion so some developers will not update their code as its not an issue with the app itself. Those apps will not be in the market until HTC fixes the bug.

Whats the option to make it be visible? It seemed like stuff wasn't compatible or it had to be approved in some way. What's the process for app submission? TIA

I know it is just a stupid app but I love it. I have furdiburb installed on my Eris. I can still play with it. But it no longer shows up in my downloads in app section. And when I search it isn't in the market. I can go to Androlib and it is there. I can scan the barcode and it finds it, but when I hit open browser it cannot be found. This is all after an update to the program. My husband has no problem with this app. It updated and he uses it and it shows up in the market with Moto Droid. Am so sad cuz my 'furdiburb' can't update!! LOL!!

My understanding is that paid apps disappear from the Market after there is an update to the device because the new software is not registered with google. This is because of the copy protection on the paid apps. Can anyone confirm this?

I have several paid apps that I cannot update because I can't find them in the market.

Now my own question. If I do a hard reset will these apps "appear" in the market again or am I out of luck getting them back if they are wiped from my phone?

My app isn't a paid app. It was there until the developer did an update on the 19th.
And it is still a free app.

Odd, I haven't been able to find tv.com in the market for the last 4 or 5 days. I uninstalled it because I wasn't using it often and figured it wasn't worth the space. I was just about to post on here that I couldn't find it and figured I should double check, so I didn't look stupid, and it is there again. Very strange.

It shows the Furdiburd was updated 15 hrs ago and tv.com was updated 153 hrs ago, so maybe the updates take time to reach the market on our phones.

Google must have fixed the market issue this afternoon -- this morning I was not able to find MobisleNotes nor Weatherbug Elite (as previously mentioned in the thread), but now both show up. With the reports of the other stuff showing back up this afternoon as well, its apparently fixed -- "for now".

However, I am still not going to purchase anymore paid apps until Google reassures us that this wont happen again after the NEXT round of Eris software updates. And the next... and the next after that. Since its happened after both MR1 and MR2, I am not willing to spend any more money until reassured that I wont have to wait 2 weeks to re-download paid apps again if I am for some reason forced to reset my phone after the next update.

Google: Fool me once, shame on you... Fool me twice, shame on me. *shrugs*
