Default Audible Books on Eris

No audible player yet available. I am an audible junkie and did a work around (but not free) for those looking to solve this.

Download book file from audible

Use Sound Taxi (google it - not free cant recall what i paid) to conver to mp3

Use Ambling Player Personal to play the file (app costs 8.99) but it supports bookmarking so you dont lose your place in the file.

After you have listened to your file DELETE it and dont share it with someone else becuase that violates the deal with Audible. In addition its just not ethical to share the files.

Total cost is not free but worth it for me.

If you join your local library you can also gain access, in many places, to their audio books on .mp3 network and just use those. The other option is to check out cd audio books and rip them so that they can be played on your phone as well. The player will cost a little, but overall it is much cheaper.

Thanks, for bringing up the player too. The ability to book mark makes it worth the money.

Downloading the player was a fiasco because for some reason the android market was FUBAR and not showing the Personal (8.99 version). I emailed the developer who referred me to some other store. I paid and downloaded there but then that file got screwed up. However, developer quickly just sent me the file (since i had paid for it) and it is now and off and running.

If you want to get this app you are going to have to buy it on this website:
http://slideme.org/
Then if it works for you great, if it doesnt contact the developer he is super responsive and helpful.

Happy to pay money to guys like that.

The player works well enough and has some function that allows you to download some apps from other sites for free. i ahve not played with that function yet.

its not the developer's fault its the goofy android market place. got a long way to go before they beat out the itunes store for sure.

there is a free version on the market that works for downloading books from libraries only (cant load your own books from sd card). you can download that ok. I would try that out before taking the 9 dollar plunge.

I had the same issue of not being able to see the personal edition, but as of five minutes ago this issue has been fixed. I just bought the personal edition. Great support from the developer, but the problem was with Market.
