LOL

My fear is that most of the threads will go like this one and those of us that would/could normally be helpful won't have the update yet and won't be of any help at all.

HTC just told me over the phone that they have no information that would verify that the update has been released. They also told me that when updates are released, they are usually one of the first to be updated so they do not think this is reliable. Although this could just be them following protocol until Verizon officially announces it.

Lol You can get the mods/admin to change your original account name. That way they don't ever yell at you for having two accounts.

Yeah, the S guy changed his screen name too. I think he was trying to avoid problems with "The Company". He wasn't having any problems, just showing us what was to come.

Ah, what I did was change the email on my old one, and used my normal email for this new one. But if the mods want to delete the old one I have no problem with it. Maybe thats why I couldn't find it... anyways, sorry, back on topic! I'm excited!

I think that is probably more the case. With the number of reports of Eris + 2.1 + problems = Oh Noz! that are out there today it is hard to imagine this is a hoax. This guy would have to go so above and beyond to set this up it would be ridiculous. Posting on multiple forums, making multiple photoshopped images with the correct build numbers and creating random bogus problems? If someone really went through ALL that trouble to create a hoax then they deserve to have people believe it, IMHO.

Not to mention that there have been several reports from different locals that Verizon employees are stating Eris + 2.1 with in a 2 week time frame.

I typed it in just like that "*#*#checkin#*#*" it will erase from the dial pad and just go back to a blank dial but in notifications is say's: "Checkin:Success" but no update.

Ugh... that little triangle was SUCH A TEASE. For a split second, I was both thrilled and terrified. Then I was just disappointed.

Default 2.1 on Eris

I would bet money that people at verizon and or HTC who have been provided with the 2.1 OS for testing purposes leaked the video and screenshots. Otherwise, many more people would be coming forward stating they have also received it.

They might have "accidently" started rolling out the rom which a few people with enough technical knowledge noticed, the rest just called tech support. They also might have realized there's a issue and are holding the update to a later time. I believe they are/were planning to release the update this week, or latest next week. Perhaps a bug was found in the way it was delievered over OTA so they pulled it right away?

every person claiming to have 2.1 on the eris, posting pics, or videos, are one of the larger group of verizon testers. i do not believe anyone got anything OTA.

The only thing nagging me is if the guy got the update this morning and had problems why did he wait until this afternoon to come here or call HTC? Also, if he was already talking to tech support, what did expect us to be able to do that they couldn't?

Hey, look at it this way, Engadget did us a favor. They rotated the image I posted and now we don't have to turn our heads! :P

I swear I was going to do it, but then I got all excited, giddy and lazy.

Well, it's certainly possible that some of these reports are from people who don't have lives and just enjoy messing with people. Not saying anything in specific terms, but we all know it's happened before ... this IS the Internet, after all.

In looking at my phone's about menu, I noticed something interesting. My phone says "software version" whereas the screenshot of the phone in the picture says "software number"...could it be photoshopped?

Every call center (help-less-desk) I've spoken too about anything tech related is, "make sure the computers plugged in" type of crap.

I find forums/enthusiasts to know alot more about the phone then anyone in a call center or found behind the desk at your local verizon store.

true that a video was posted, but it looked pretty grainy and hard to see what was going on. And from what I have read, the OTA did not include sense.

Oh well, patiently waiting.....

His best bet is to take it to a VZW store and have them reload 1.5 since 2.1 isn't supported in the wild.
