Default Dock made from Altoids tins....

I just realized that the Droid Eris fits nicely inside an empty Altoids tin, at an angle. I've got lots of these sitting around, so tonight I'm going to bust out the dremel tool and try to make a custom car and desktop dock from Altoids tins. I'll post pics of the process.

Heard a rumor, from a Winn Dixie night crew stocker that doing this will not only void your warranty, but it will also prevent you from getting any new OTA's. I'm just gonna keep using my toilet tissue carboard thing. It gets me a better signal, and amplifies my wifi strenth.

@ Bishop - What? You gotta post a pic of the TP dock!

@ Caddyman - Excellent!! I'm really looking for something custom for the car but I thought I'd try to make a desktop one to match.

I eat altoids instead of smoking.... I eat LOTS of altoids!

I ripped apart and modified a Palm Treo desktop charging stand. It will sync and charge the phone. It has worked really well so far.

Ok. First attempt went horribly. I found out I have a generic brand rotary tool, not a dremel. Big difference. I've got to get a better tool. I have proven my concept, so more to come later. Stay tuned.

I just made one of these for the nightstand. Looks like it's going to work just perfect.

if i could actually listen to music VIA loudspeakers I would switch the L and R PC speakers. the other one does have a line in jack. and yeah the dual 20" dell monitors both have 2 USB on the sides.

I was using the paper clip stand on my bedside table. I just bought a small plate rack (used to stand decorative plates on edge) for 89 cents. Holds the eris horizontally and doesn't interfere with the charging card. sweet

I'm lucky enough to be able to keep that on my nightstand. If I put Caddy's thing on, my wife would probably use one of those clips on a place I really, really don't want it. I like the iPhone paper clip looking thing but I don't have a monster paper clip. That clip must have been the size of a mouse trap. Hey mouse trap.... now that's a thought. Touch my Eris and BAM!! @ Matlock - I buffed it down a bit and I'm think of adding some foam padding. I'll look for some acid at the hardware store while I'm there.

If you do the padding, no reason to waist money on any acid. Any glue you use will keep the edges soft if the padding happens to slip.

I know this is more of a DIY thread, but I am thinking about getting this:

YouTube - Griffin Travel Stand

I like the Android/Sense theme he has going on.

Works great. Just found one and notched the back so the cassette holder would tip back further (scared the phone would tip forward to easy). I don't have a camera other than my phone so I can't take a pic of how well it works. haha

My husband made me one out of some ammo and an empty ammo container!!! He cut the little tray with a dremel tool, and spray painted it black. The 2 bullets in the back are .308 and the two in the front are .40 cal pistol rounds.
