Default turn on swype

ok i down loaded swype how do you get it to work? went to settings it shows it there but nit dont work? any ideas?

Go to messages, and long-press on any input-text area. When the drop-down appears, choose Swype.

Swype is pretty cool, downloaded it last night and did the tutorial. Got some getting use to but all in all I like it.
