Default Swap ESN, MEID HEX

Okay So my dad bought a stupid droid eris at the full retail price. He go sick of it cause he felt that a PDA device was to complicated. =\. So he gave it to me but Verizon is stupid and telling me that i have to pay the $30 a month for the data which i am never gunna use. The only reason i want the phone is cause my enV is a little bit on the broken side. But come on I've had it for 3 years! lol. Now all of you are going to say this is Illegal but actually because my dad bought the phone at full retail price, he can do what ever he wants with it . I just wanna know a simple way to get my enV's MEID onto my Droid Eris so 1 I don't have to talk to Verizon and here there mouths and 2 i dont have to pay a completely rip off of a $30 charge for internet I'm never gunna use! And no i don't wanna extend my contract

The $30 is necessary for internet to even function on your phone.

They don't let you activate the ESN (built into the phone, and not editable) without having a data plan.

They don't want anyone with a Smart Phone on Verizon to not have the "full experience". It's lame, but that's how it is.

Sorry, cowboy.

You could probably flash it, but it would probably require opening it up and using some specialized equipment, which would probably end up costing more than the data plan over two years anyway.

Not to mention that it could really screw you over if you even got it to work. Since VZW's network relies on that number to identify the model of the phone, it might start breaking certain network features, and you lose any support, since its pretty obvious that a Eris looks nothing like an enV. It would not be worth it.

They don't care what he does with the phone after he buys it. He could put it in a shoebox and let it sit forever for all they care. But whatever line that phone is activated on will require the data plan. They won't activate the ESN of that phone without it. The ESN is unique to that phone and can't be changed. That's the whole point of an ESN...to identify specific hardware.

thats stupid. you can take the engine apparent and screw with any part of YOUR car and thats what i am asking. So your point is completely irrelevant to what i am asking you but thats for the input.

When swapping a phones ESN (btw everyone its now an MEID # because they started running out of ESNs because there wherent enough numbers lol) You are giving it the old phones ESN so to verizon thats a enV but to my phone its an Eris. Service would be provided all i would have to do is dial *228 to link the phone to my account. =D

lol true i could flash it. but i could also throw it at a wall and hope it doesnt break. When flashing a Phone to change the MEID you have to install a HEX generated that will replace the phones old MEID/ESN with the new one of your chose. That doubles the risk of bricking a phone. lol.

All i am asking for is a SIMPLE way to do it. lol geez i dont wanna here all the "its wrong" and "its illegal" stuff since...my dad bought the phone and i could set it on fire if i want and its not illegal cause its completely my phones no contracts attracted to either of them so once again, i can set it on fire if i please. thanks for the input though

How about this then. You want to put your license plates on a different car without going through the DMV to do it legally. You want to do it to bypass the law. Is that more of a real life scenario for you?
