Question Set an mp3 as notification sound and text message alert

I have an mp3 that I want to use as my notification and text message sound. It was on my computer. I have emailed it to myself and I am able to download it to my droid eris.

On my Eris, it appears in my music section. How do I set it as my notification sound? It is not appearing in the "sound" list for notifications.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Download Ringdroid from the Market. You can trim the song and save it as a ringtone. This should help (I hope) and you'll be able to get just what you want. BTW it's free.

The one I want is not availble on the market. It is a short sound from Harvey Birdman... the "Look out" scene transition sound.

Oh... "Ring Droid".. okay. I'll go look for that.

there should be a folder called media on the root of the sd card. and in that folder there is another folder called audio and in that folder there is another folder called notifications, put your ringtones in there and the system will see them. no need for an app.
