Does anyone know what this backs up and why we need it if Google can store contacts, pictures and market Apps on the cloud server? Thanks

According to Verizon’s web site this allow syncing of your contacts and editing from a PC. Google already does this for me and there's no way to turn off or uninstall the Verizon app. More bloatware that sucks my battery juice that I have no control over :-(
