Has anyone ever found a for-real, sure-thing fix for the HTC Sense Clock app failing? This is the failure where the clock and weather widget show TOD and WX but tapping the clock fails to show the alarm, timer, and world clock functions. Tapping the weather display still gives the weather info as expected. On the HTC-supported Incredible forum, HTC has said little more than "we're working on it" and this from, I believe, low grade worker bees.
Please, don't go on about alternative apps. The question is only about the HTC Sense Clock app and widget as supplied by Verizon out of the box.

Nope, only alt apps have worked for me; never going out over months, i know you said not to go on about them...
The stock widget remains quietly brilliant...
Or quietly ignorant, that is...
...getting another phone might be the only surefire fix, downgrade to 2.2 or root maybe...

Reason: quietly ignorant
I had the problem with Froyo, too, so "dumbing down" wouldn't help, either. I'm thinking hard about rooting and upgrading that way. But... I have to be 100% sure GSM works or I'm toast when in Germany.

May I ask why you're not interested in alternatives? It seems to me that turning to 3rd party apps is a practical way of dealing with the shortcomings of stock software.
Simple - I already use a number of third party apps to work around the problem. BUT I paid Verizon (and HTC) for a working phone. They simply have ignored the many people who've demonstrated the same problem. I want to hear if HTC ever takes their finger out and fixes the problem. I'm not holding my breath while waiting...
And then there is the Settings app disappearing problem....
I assume that I will have to root and ROM any phone I get to get the performance I want at the price (free) I can afford. Folks who don't want to go through that should be able to get a usable phone too.
I finally gave in and installed a third-party app as much as I hated to. I mean this is basic stuff that should work. The lack of a fix is even more surprising. The factory-reset worked the first time, but I refuse to do it again and re-install everything.
In my experience, the factory data reset doesn't really fix the problem, either. The problem (probably) stems from a defective app or widget - almost anything else works, this app and widget tank; kinda hard to blame anything else.
Funny - I did a Check New last night ( [/shrug] why not, maybe Santa will show up early) and... nada. Tonight... I'm downloading 29M of OTA update as we "speak". Thanks for the heads up!
The update is installed and... the Clock app and widget are working. We'll see how this holds up over the next few days and weeks. However, this is the first time I've seen the app revived in literally months.
I just did two app installs, moved them both to the SD, and... added another clock, played with the app, messed with the widget, and generally tried to break it. So far, so good.
P.S. If posting this doesn't cause the DINC2 to go nuclear on me, I'm really doing good!
no idea if this would be the right place to ask, but it has to do with the clock widget, just not this particular issue.
is there any way to make it default to the Alarm screen when i press the clock, instead of opening the world clock screen? i have no reason to ever adjust the settings of the world clock. well, not never, but FAR less often than i would need to change an alarm setting.
In the past, even when the app was working, it resisted coming up with anything but the world clock panel. It would be nice if the app remembered the last panel used but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that. Just be glad the app and widget even work.
Long time reader, first time (in a long time) poster.
I have been struggling with this clock disappearing issue for weeks now. I just happened to stumble upon this thread tonight and was thrilled to find that there is an update available. According to this update on VZ's website, this update is a fix for the clock, among other things as well.
I'm updating as I type and hope to have the same luck as others have.
UPDATE: The alarm clock is now in the app drawer and it launches when tapping the clock widget. All of my previous alarms and world clock cities are still present as well. Fantastic.

Have you tried rearranging the order of the icons? Long-press any of the icons in the clock app and then drag them left or right. Try moving the alarm clock icon to the far left and it should automatically come up when you tap the clock widget, particularly if it is the last utility used before returning to the home screen.

You can rearrange the icons in the all apps drawer by doing this. I took the Verizon ones off because I didn't want to see them anymore. I

The HTC DROID Incredible 2 launched on April 28th and does well enough to follow the original up. It's not going to be a must-have device for those who own and enjoy the original, but folks new to the DROID party who want an HTC phone shouldn... Read More
