Default Upgrade to Dinc 2 or T-bolt

With great deals available at Best Buy and being ready for renewal, I was thinking of upgrading my rooted original Dinc. to either the Dinc 2 (free) or T-bolt ($50.). I like the smaller size and am not a huge power user. I surf and watch stuff on my phone where there's usually wifi, so no 4G isn't a deal-breaker (it's available in my market). I like the smaller footprint. And really, the Dinc 2 is very comparable to the iPhone 4s in size and 3G network. T-bolt seems cool--but it's huge (not very pocketable) and battery life is a major issue. Both are now operating on Android 2.3, right? Are there any other Dinc 2 users who traded from TB with any regrets? Am I stupid in locking myself into a 3G phone for the next 2 years (like all recent iPhone activators)? I started on Android with the Eris and like and am familiar HTC Sense. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Ahhhh, the "age old question"...

I also came from an Eris, and I think you answered your own question.

T-Bolt is not what you want unless you want bigger and 4g and worse battery life.

I love my DInc2, and wouldn't leave it for any phone on the market now.

Thanks. You're right! I think I'll be very happy upgrading for free to a phone that's a natural progression from the original Dinc. Glad to hear you're still happy with the phone.

I agree, not now for any currently.

Not to mention when you show a Tbolt user your battery life stats after it has passed the 1 day mark, watch their eyes get big and they ask you has your phone really been on that long?

I'm assuming many on this forum prefer the 4" screen. I'm in the same camp. The original Dinc screen may be just a tad small. But I think all other new phones are just too big. I saw the Nexus Galaxy and it was as big as my hand. It's like walking around with a mini tablet.

IPhone screens are still 3.7, and very few complain about the size. If HTC made a dual core, ice cream sandwich phone the size of the DInc2, I would buy it in an instant.

I also agree, I came from an hTC wildfire I bought last year around this time that had a 3.2" screen.
It was my first Android smartphone. I didn't really want anything bigger than that but, after getting the Dinc2 (for free I might add, August 1st of '11) I found that the 4" is really the perfect size. I might consider a 4.3 but NO bigger!
Now with phones like the Gnex and the Samsung note (5" + size) it is really getting out of control.

It's like you will have to have a messenger bag to tote that around & practically knock your self out to answer a call. Are we going back to the phone in a bag days with a huge wifi antenna sticking out with a brick of a battery to power a monster screen?
Also Samsung is rumored to release a 6" portable smartphone/tablet device that has an integrated glove you wear on your hand to act as a finger stylus... Crazy!

Got my free Dinc yesterday at Best Buy. Happy with the decision, though the screen is definitely not as vibrant as the amoled screen on my old Dinc. Size, weight, and build are all fantastic. Thanks for the advice.

But if it were HTC, and a "Padphone" or "Phonelet" I think I would actually do it. I already expect my phone to act like my laptop.

Remember when the ipad came out and we saw this?

When blackberries ruled, that was the size to mimic. The first iPhone (and subsequent ones) was meant for one handed use. Remember the Eris (my first Android)? That thing is puny by today's standards. The Dinc2 reminds me of the Eris in design (soft touch exterior with rounded corners) but without the trackball. I don't need a screen or phone bigger than this.
