I tried to buy and Incredible S but the vendor sent me an Incredible 2 -- Verizon's version of the device. The phone is unlocked, and will be used outside of the U.S. But the Skype app seems to be abiding by Verizon's "rules" -- i.e. Skype calls must use Verizon phone services. The phone has never had and will not have a Verizon account.

Does anyone know a way around this? I want to use Skype as I travel (Mexico, Central America), using various SIM cards.

Can I sever the connection between Verizon and the Skype app? I want Skype to forget all about Verizon.

Have you tried the Skype app in the Market instead of the app that came with the phone?

did the trick -- thanks. It is impossible it seems to remove the Verizon-branded app, but I stopped the automatic updates, downloaded the non-Verizon version from Google Play, and it all seems to be working fine. Thanks so much!
