Default Exclamation point on battery icon?

My Droid Inc. 2 has been doing this lately and i'm not exactly sure what it means. i'll frequently look at my phone for maybe a missed call or text message and i'll notice that my battery icon goes gray, and an exclamation point will be overtop of it. whenever i notice this, my phone is not on a charger.

Does this happen to anyone else's phone? Has anyone brought this to verizon's attention as to what it might be?

It means the phone can't read the battery information (charge level, temperature, etc)... I would first try doing a battery pull reset and check the contacts on the battery and the phone. If all looks good consider a new battery, problems still exist the phone might be bad. My Inc2 used to do this on occasion, but I never took it to VZW for that since it was only a rare occurrence. Not sure if it would have gotten worse or not, the phone got replaced for something completely different.

Mine was doing this not long ago. Cleaned contacts, did reset etc, and eventually the battery died. Don't wait until it dies, as once it does the phone won't work at all. At least mine didn't. Verizon did warranty it
