Default Is my phone finished??

Cant seem to figure this one out.

The other day, I couldn't connect to Google play. Thought it was strange, but didn't think much of it. Well 3 days later, I still couldn't. Getting a "connection timed out" message. Did all the normal stuff like rebooting, clearing cache, pulling SIM card, checking settings..blah blah. Nothing seemed to work. Well after 5 days of messing with it, I finally decided to nuke it and start over. (factory reset)

During setup, I tried signing in to Google servers and it still didn't work. Now I'm stuck with 2 year old apps since nothing will upgrade through the market. Tried wiping multiple times, to no avail. The only thing I haven't done is wipe my SD card. Everything else on phone seems to work fine.

Anyone have any thoughts?? Phone has been rooted since day one and loaded with Newtoroot's RLS 1.1 with zero issues, up until now

First: you DO have an internet connection confirmed working on the phone?

Have you tried accessing your gmail account on the phone? Your account sign in is correct and current?

Have you tried both wifi and 3g?

If so,

I would try the SD. Meaning, copy everything of importance to you to your pc, format it in your phone, D/L a good rom (Stock?) to the sd, flash this superwipe zip in recovery, Factory reset, install rom , after booting and letting it settle for a minute make sure you dial *22891 and let it finish and reboot.
If that doesn't do it, I'm outta ideas. But let us know either way.

Thanks guys. Yes, internet works flawlessly over 3g and wifi, and no problems logging in to Gmail either on the phone, or laptop. Ive superwiped till it hurts. No dice. Cant imagine wiping my sd would make a difference, but its worth a try. Phone still works great. Hard to believe a factory reset would not clear it up. Cant be a hardware problem, can it??
