You WILL be able to click and have it dial. It just wont bring up a menu of choices like "save to contacts, Copy, Dial, Send Number".
Email addresses will go to send an email. No other choices like listed above either.
That is the Patent in question.
Well that's awfully inconvenient. I use that on my phone a good amount.
My mostly stock Incredible 2 doesn't give me any choices when I click a number. I have to call it and then save the number from the call log. Annoying.
All I can say is all this BS is really just making me just want to keep my org DInc and say "F" them all until it dies and then just get another one off Ebay. How can Apple patent such a basic thing. That is like Microsoft patenting, clicking an icon closes a window. I use the feature all the time on my phone, and if I can't do it on a new HTC phone...?

Is someone getting nervous of their inferior product???? I think so... it's too bad they have more clout and can play the game of politics better than HTC.... Apple is a bunch of greedy b*tches. Hopefully this latest patent war gets solved soon so the Inc4 can be released before Verizon takes away our unlimited data, or I move to Sprint, whatever happens first LOL

What they're gonna do is have a spot in the settings for you to set a default app for any text click action on a webpage. Like dialer when you select a phone number, or Maps when you select an address, or winamp if you select to play a song sample assuming there isn't an embedded media player on the page. I kinda think this could be a good thing, as long as you're not changing your selections a lot, but all you'd have to do is change it in the settings menu.

I was gonna pass on the Inc4g, but since there won't be any other HTC phones coming out before this shared data comes into effect, and I've been sitting on an upgrade, I may as well use it on this and try it out. If I don't like it, I can always sell it or keep it for when one of the 2 lines that are still on unlimited 3g want a 4g phone. Since the only way we can keep the unlimited data is to buy at full price, I may as well get one more phone at discount pricing. Even if Verizon ends up screwing us out of unlimited, I can always sell it to pay off the ETF.

Hey verizon, launch this phone now. I mean it. Right now. Not playing. Just do it.
If the HTC Evo 4G LTE isn't shipped out to customers soon, I have a bad feeling we're going to wait a LONG time for this phone. Too long and Verizon might purposely delay it a bit longer for their data share plan. This sucks, for everyone who was looking forward to buying one of the new HTC phones coming out.
I don't think Apple users realize it, but Apple is not innovative at all, except perhaps with the design of the iPhone. I do admit it is nice looking, but it just doesn't feel like a phone to me. I had an iPod Touch since around the day it came out. No apps, I'm not even sure there was a music/video store, and a lot of other features were missing. Suddenly a new method called "jailbreaking" comes out that allows you to get apps on your iPod/iPhone. Cydia was still around back then, but pretty horrible to use; instead there was an app called 'Installer' that would install on your device. The community was great, and best of all, everything was FREE. Then Apple decides to come out with the App Store after they realize how popular jailbreaking is, they didn't even think the App Store would be that much of a success at first Almost every iPhone feature is taken from the jailbreaking community/other companies. All they do is combine existing ideas and features into a device that appeals to the every day customer.

Yep, I mentioned this exact same thing in a previous post.
Well I decided to give it a shot and I went on the Verizon chat thing and asked if they knew if the phone was going to be delayed at all because the HTC/Apple situation, because I needed to know if I should upgrade right now or later. I have no idea if they guy actually knew anything, but this is what he told me: "As of present time, the situations between the two companies has not taken affect, so the phones as of right now are scheduled when they are scheduled unless something happens within now and then."
I'm going to try calling later, and asking a few other people on the chat service and see if there's any discrepancies from what they say.

I just went to Verizon's website and no longer see the Droid Incredible 2. Does this mean the 4g will show up soon?
Check it out.
I haven't seen the Inc2 on Verizon's site for a couple months, after they were offering them for free, which was after the holiday promo for the red Inc2. It almost seems like they're trying to deplete their stock of Rezounds as well (recently offering them for $50) before launching the Inc4g. While they are similar, the 4" vs 4.3" screen should each have their own potential customers. Bigger HD screen you want the Rezound, smaller screen with better performance & possibly better battery life you want the Inc4g. Considering they're not planning on offering any new large screen HTC phones (like the One X) I don't see why Verizon would want to only carry one HTC model. Last year they had the Thunderbolt and the Inc2, so they could offer both the Rezound & the Inc4g.
Ahh, ok had not looked recently and noticed it was gone. I bet Verizon has a webpage done for the 4g but we can't access it yet. I can't wait for the reviews to start, I'm so anxious to see if battery life will be good.
I almost considered going with the Razor Maxx but I recently saw a video review and they said the screen resolution was messed up and some webpages distorted the resolution with text not being as clear. I love the fact the battery lasts for days but I really prefer 4" instead of anything bigger.
To be honest, my original Inc1 still works so good I still happy with it and would only be upgrading to get the lastest sense and faster processor w/ slightly larger screen .3 (will it be that much difference lol) I'm also considering paying full price instead of being locked in for another 2 yrs. My contract is already up on my original Inc1 and I want to keep my unlimited.
My question is whether the og Inc battery will fit the incredible 4g. If so, I have a 1800 that I can use as a backup.
I don't worry about unlimited cause I don't come close to needing it but I do want to keep it.
I doubt it. I have an original Inc and a backup battery that I use frequently, A year ago, I was considering upgrading from the original Inc to an Inc2 but I dropped the idea because the Inc2 used different batteries (or so I was told by Verizon) which would have made my batteries useless.

It does use different batteries. You don't need a second battery for the DInc2 though because battery life is THAT much better.
Well, I gave up waiting for the Dinc4g. I just bought a Rezound off eBay for $300. If the Dinc4g comes out and its a great phone I'll sell the Rez. Otherwise I'll just sit on the upgrade until something irresistably cool hits. I can stop worrying and just enjoy the Rezound.

Speaking as a guy who had two Rezounds, you will not enjoy that phone. It is a piece of junk IMO.
Im dying for at least some sort of news .-.
I want to at least know if it's been delayed or have a new leaked release date. I'm going to go to the Verizon store today to check out the Nexus, and I may go ahead and buy it if I like it enough. We have no idea when customs will start letting HTC phones back into the states again, so it could possibly be delayed months and we wont know a release date til 2 days before it comes out. I'm going to see if anyone at the VZW store has any info on the phone.
Edit: I'm on my phone so I can't link the article(s), but it looks like "some" HTC phones have been allowed into the US by customs! Hopefully this includes the DInc4G!
Well, it's not letting me edit my previous post (again lol). But i have some speculation. HTC didn't say exactly which phones came through, this could possibly be because one of them was the Dinc4G and a release date hasn't been announced for it yet. I really want to know why only "some" came through though. It's a good sign regardless!
I don't think the Incredible was one of the phones that were stuck in customs, and if they were then I think you are looking more like a July release.
I don't see why it wouldn't be stuck in customs considering all the other new HTC phones were. And if customs lets it through in the next week or few weeks, why would it be released in July? Mid june at latest I'd think.

I'm not terribly familiar with the One line. The phone in that line for T-Mobile is not delayed as it was before this customs thing. All the others in that line are.
Im at the VZW store and I find that i really like the Lucid's display and the Nexus's display. The Rezound's display is just too dull and colors aren't bright enough. The lucid is just LCD so shouldn't SLCD be an improvement over that? I really hope the Incredible's is better than the Rezounds, or I'll be picking up a Nexus or a Lucid. There's an extremely noticeable difference in color quality between the two, I wouldnt say the Rezounds was more accurate but instead a lot duller.
And they told me the Dinc4G should be coming very soon. But thats it. Also they don't know when it's coming in til 24 hours before hand.

I owned the Lucid for a couple of weeks before returning it because of an unresponsive touchscreen and battery issues. Otherwise I liked that phone. Coming from an LG Ally, you may love it. Coming from an original Incredible, I didn't want to own it for two years. The Dinc 4G and it's S4 processor should blow the Lucid away.

.01 at Amazon is the way to go for the Lucid.
I'll probably end up getting the Nexus and not a Lucid. Anything is better than an Ally though lol. Anyways, all the people who held and saw the Dinc4G said the screen was on par with the One X's, so I'm hoping "super LCD" was just a generalization and they actually meant SLCD2 or IPS LCD. SLCD's viewing angles are just terrible and when watching movies/gaming the colors just aren't vibrant enough. The screen is just too dim, perhaps maybe the problem lies more that screen just isn't bright enough(I had the screen on maximum brightness). I'm REALLY hoping it's SLCD2 or a much brighter screen. I had no problems with the resolution of any of the phones except the pentile screens that were not HD.
I downloaded Minecraft: Pocket Edition onto the Rezound at the VZW store. I opened up creative mode, and I was confused, because I thought it was almost night time because the sky was getting dark already. Creative mode doesn't even have day/night (I'm pretty sure) and the game looked 10x better on the Nexus with its clear and vibrant colors. I've been following this phone for 2 months, and I will be very disappointed if I'm let down just by a screen that's unsuitable for me.
Edit: I'm going to hold judgement til I see it in person. I'm probably worrying over nothing, as reviewers have said the screen is great and sounds like an SLCD2, or at least it's improved over previous SLCD screens.
Now my next worry is the bezel which may completely defeat the purpose of having a smaller screen. FIHDJIQOFUH JUST RELEASE THE PHONE ALREADY lol

I know what you are saying about the screen on the Rezound. My wife has one and I prefer the lcd screen on my Dinc to it, due to the dimness and lack of comparable vibrant colors on the Rezound. I enjoyed the screen on the Lucid which was which was bright and looked great out of doors. The colors were a little washed out though and of course it wasn't HD. The best screen in the store is on the LG Spectrum though, but no more LGs for a while for me.
It's fine with me that the screen on the Inc 4G won't be a flagship screen. The Qualcomm S4 chip will make up for it (hopefully). No more heat issues or a need to be hooked up to a charger everywhere I go.
Again, the in store reps have no information on this phone and neither does customer service. Everyone will just need to wait until something actually leaks?
I went to Verizon yesterday and asked ....and so I thought I'd pass on what the salesperson said..... " beginning of quarter 3 ", so that means July..
IDK what to believe now....
My Verizon store had no idea, so I have no idea why would yours. They definitely wouldn't know this much ahead of time. All VZW said was in the coming weeks, so if it's not out by June 7, then we can start worrying.
I've come to the conclusion that any Verizon rep that claims he/she knows when the phone is coming out, without a source or saying they recieved information directly from corporate, probably read the info online and presumed it to be true.

It's just the screen is too dim and colors are not vibrant at all. I'm not worried as much about the screen on the Droid Incredible 4G anymore because it looks a lot brighter and the colors look vibrant. Just looking at videos of the Rezound on youtube, the colors look washed out. I always presumed this was video quality but looking at the phone in store, the colors are actually washed out.
At the very least, this phone better have a much brighter screen. I'm worrying about it again because I can't tell how good the screen is just from the videos lol.

I spoke to a Verizon Account Executive and she told me, "anytime now" as far as the release date. She has access to a lot more information than a store rep and works with several sources, so I hope her information is somewhat accurate. Obviously we'll never know for sure until a release date is actually announced.

I'm not sure how you calculate accuracy with a date like "anytime now". That could be 3+ years from now or in the next few minutes.

Did you actually read the article? lol. It doesn't contain anything that wasn't already stated before. Infact it incorrectly states an expected release date of May 23rd based on a non existant Best Buy email. They probably were thinking of the HTC Evo 4G LTE email.
