As far as the grounding issues go, Froyo fixed this. As far as the random scrolling goes, there is dust on the trackball. Wipe it off really well and it will stop. Mine did this a few times and I asked on the forum about it and was told to wipe it off and voila. It stopped.
I had a launch (not sure of MD) DI and it had scrolling issues from the start, it would scroll down and the screen was unresponsive till I put my thumb over the track pad. I thought maybe the froyo update + a master reset would fix the issue but it did not. I got a replacement with a M date of 7/14/2010 and have not had a single issue..

Reason: update with new phone
I'd take this all with a grain of salt, though. There's no telling what some folks do to their phones and what facts are missing when recounting horror stories.
Manufacture Date: 4/26/2010. Low space used to come up, but that's because I kept a *lot* of stuff on my phone and never cleared caches (user incurred issue). Otherwise, no problems.
Device(s): HTC Droid Incredible, rooted and cured from LowOnSpace, thanks to help I received here!

No real problems...
Though the preinstalled live wallpapers seem to cause other apps to force close (memory/software issue). Installed a new live wallpaper yesterday with no problems (fish tank).
I had to uninstall Call Confirm and also reboot the phone to avoid Force Closes on the (ESTAT? can't recall name) app that pops up.
EDIT: November problems with Low On Space issue began to disable text messages and downloads.
I wound up having to root the phone and add the fix for Low On Space. Without it my phone was becoming unusable.

Try cleaning the trackpad (cloth + compressed air).
