-"Settings" menu is now divided into more categories

-Added ability to have an unlock pattern or password (like Moto Droids). Unlock screen shows exact battery percentage

-Gmail UI is updated

-If you click on the HTC clock, it will take you to the "Desk Clock" app, which now lists exact battery %

-Speed is greatly increased. Especially noticed with live wallpapers (they added 1 live wallpaper; the nexus one wallpaper). Sense is snappier than ever. I can fly through my seven screens now with the optical button, even with a live wallpaper.

-Emulators running much better. After the update, the sound issues I had with Final Fantasy 7 seem to be mostly gone. Speed is now "perfect" instead of "near perfect" SNES, NES, and GBA running my games "perfectly"

-Still unknown, but it seems like my battery is taking longer to charge. I'm wondering if this means they fixed the "bump charging" and that it is giving me a full charge straight up.

-Flash 10.1, Skype, Flashlight, and a small slew of verizon bloatware has been added

-New startup (with the "Droid" video/sound)

Haven't really noticed much difference with the keyboard yet, but will let you guys know if I see anything. Will post other changes as I notice them.

Tongue 2.2 Inprovements???

I'm having occasional reboot issues on 2.1 Has anyone noticed an improvement (or better yet, elimination) in this problem with 2.2?

Also, I have a dumb question...what exactly is the benefit of being able to store apps on the SD card. Does it somehow improve phone performance?

Yes Bluetooth dialing is now working like my Storm 2. Only reason I wanted the update since I drive a 6 speed.

I tested it out yesterday and works great. Very happy.

I've been running 2.2 since it was leaked over a month ago, so I don't remember most of the differences anymore. There's a ton of little things here and there.

The biggest one I remember was how much better pictures look now. No more edge enhancement/extra sharpeness, and they seem to be better quality, Face detection was added, and now the icons all rotate on the camera screen depending on the orientation of the phone. You can turn the flash on/off when recording video now too.

I don't recall any threads like that, so you might wanna do a search for chrome: but I think you'll need to create a new thread.

...and no, I haven't used Chrome on my Inc yet. I do use it for my PC web browser though and like it. Just like all browsers though, it does have it's little quirks and hiccups.
Chrome to Phone is a 2.2 thing.

Sorry, I'll be more specific: This is a thread about changes that came WITH 2.2 not about 2.2 apps. I still believe it should be it's own thread, or perhaps a new thread about "New apps with 2.2".

assuming the phone was factory wiped, I think that means battery calibration data was wiped too. Maybe thats causing that..

Definitely taking longer, hopefully it means they fix the battery issue.

Will report back in a day what I find.

Maybe they fixed that last 10% issue, where it doesn't really charge it to full capacity unless the phone was off.

It still uses a Lithium Ion battery: So sorry, but no.

I haven't been able to go through normal charging ( Using phone for internet, so it's kinda always connected atm. ), so I can't say anything about an increased charge time atm.

If there really is an increased time, and it isn't either placebo or something else: I can see 2 possibilities.

1) There was a separate problem ( related to bump charging, not off charging. ) that they have fixed. I never had the bump charging, so if I do not see a change in charge time this might be possible.

2) For some reason or another they slowed down the charge rate ( perhaps in an effort to extend long-term battery life. A slower charge will cause less degradation over each charge. )

Basically though: We need a lot more info than 2 or 3 people saying it takes longer to charge before we will know anything.

I've look around a little but can't find an answer to this question, so I appologize if it is posted elsewhere...

Has anyone turned on the 3G Hotspot? I took a quick look at it. When you click on it, you get a pop-up about needing a Verizon Wireless Hotspot feature. Now I have not signed up for any new Data services but it let me enable the HotSpot anyway.

Edit: Okay tried to connect my laptop and it brought me to the Verizon mobile sign up page

There was a bug in 2.1 in with photo's, you had to zoom all the way in on the photo for it to focus. Anybody know if that is fixed?

To get it to work:

Go to phone and dial ##778
Press call
Pick Edit Mode
Password is 000000(6 zeros)
Go to M.IP Default Profile
Look for NAI and DUN NAI
Change the DUN NAI to match NAI
Press menu and commit modifications.

^Props to whoever found that, I forgot who.
Now try using hotspot again

Still unsure if you can get caught, but the guy who found that says it works.

Does the update make the brightness on the soft keys (home, menu, back, search) configurable or make it possible for these to be turned off in low light situations? My biggest complaint about the Incredible is that those lights are so damn bright. I often wake up in the middle of the night and can't sleep so I try to read something on my Inc and I get blinded. Turning the brightness all the way down does not fix this problem.

All fine and dandy, to me the biggest issue (at least in 1.5, 1.6 and 2.1, different phones mind you) is the god awful _PHONE_ app performance. Not a week goes by that I have to either wait 10-15 seconds to switch between call A or call B or right out take the battery out 'cause it locks the phones (G1, Eris and Droid). To me that's unacceptable and I'm not necessarily a "power user," but I know it's a must for business/medical folks. I have not heard anything that leads me to believe that Google is going to put more emphasis on these sort of _basic_ functionality in upcoming versions. Gaming, customization, apps, etc. All good things. However, I would like Google/developers to think that when I buy a "smart" phone, I want a reliable, fast _phone_ with the niceties of a smart phone, not a mini computer with a phone app added as a formality.

So, is this visable to Verizon and do they turn start billing you for the feature?

I can say that I never delete threads in Handcent because it crashes every time. I have had luck deleting threads from the stock messaging app by selecting "Delete Locked Messages" as well. This is the best way I have found to delete large threads without crashing apps.

You can't press the menu button to unlock the phone anymore. sliding the bar is the only way now. :-(

Have really noticed a stronger wi-fi signal with the wireless N upgrade.

After charging with the phone on and unplugging, does the battery still instantly fall to around 93% within minutes?

i was noticing that as well, going to do a full (powered off) recharge and let it go down to see if recalibrating the OS will do anything useful

I manually updated with the RUU. Is it just me, or does it seem like the 3G icon stays lit up all the time now? It seems like it used to go to "sleep" before, but now it's lit every time I look. My up times and awake times are fine and there doesn't seem to be any type of additional battery drain, I'm just curious...

Can't say I notice a difference in charging. But I am definitely getting more bars where I normally don't. To everyone using the ##778 or whatever 3g hotspot method. Rooting is almost easier then using that method. Better than being "caught" and later charged

Default Froyo= New drive mounting = "Verizon Mobile"

Anyone notice how now with Froyo when connected to a computer (XP in this case) the phone mounts TWO drives now. The 1st is a drive labled "Verizon Mobile" which seems to contain the software for using phone as modem and then the 2nd drive which is the normal SD Card mount.

Anyone know a way to stop this from happening (I just want the SD Card mounted)

Mine has two now, even though I'm still on 2.1. One is the internal storage and the other is the SD card.

Yeah, and windows wants to format it each and every time, too. I'm not sure whether I want to get mad or giggle...but I DO want to hit the format button each and everytime.

Turning the brightness all the way down does not fix this problem.
I've found this to be a problem as well. Please post if you get a solution to this issue.

my quadrant jumped from 553 to a little over 1200.

has anyone noticed a lag in the browser?
it lags behind my finger waaayyy more than before.
its annoying.

also, when watching a flash video
after holding my finger on the video to go full screen the full screen pop up has changed.
