Default Best Way To Handle Apps On SD After a Wipe

I'm just wondering what to do with my apps on my SD card now that I wiped my phone. Should I just reinstall them and move to SD, or delete all their lingering folders on SD and then reinstall. I just don't want duplicates of all the folders if I reinstall and Android doesn't know to use the folders/files already there from before the wipe.

I've always just reinstalled my apps. However, it would be easy to imagine that temporary data the original instance created might linger around and you lose a small amount of space. Hard to say. But I can say for most of my apps, the new data just replaced the old.
