I had tried with assurion a few weeks ago and they said they still had incs. My battery has almost totally fried and overheats all the time now, I get paid on friday so I will try again to see if I can get an inc2 or a tbolt and report my findings
*update* just got off the phone with them, they said they do still have them in stock, but that it changes literally every 5 minutes. Basically, luck of the draw if your looking to get something other than an inc.
I filed a claim last week and got an Inc2. Did it online to make sure what I would be getting.
At what point in the process did it say what replacement device was being sent? Before you finalize? I put in a claim, but was not sure how far to go before it says DINC2 and I never saw anything that said it.
I had done one online, and before you submit it gives you the option to talk to an online rep. Thats what I did, I talked to the rep the first time (in may) and they told me they had incs, so I cancelled the claim.
I called twice yesterday and they said they had incs both times.
*edit*
Just called them again, they had no incs in stock, so I'm getting my inc2 tomorrow, woot!

I think there is an option to cancel your claim online. It really doesn't matter though as long as they didn't hold one for you. They shipped me an inc2 using the "claim" I filed yesterday. Just keep trying honestly, if thats what your after anyways. I tried to get a TB out of em, but they wouldn't budge on that. At least its not a droid x!
I buy and sell phones enough that it doesn't make sense for me to have insurance on them. I have been through 9 different phones in about 2 years (Lost one, broke...well washed one, and the rest have been resold) so in my case, since i like switching phones quite a bit, i have never had insurance. bought my Dinc for $200 on ebay. Craigslist was cheaper, but i wanted the scam-proof assurance that ebay provides.
If you plan on keeping the same phone forever, get insurance. If you are like me and want the "newest and greatest" (though actually i generally wait till all of the bugs have been worked out) It makes more sense to keep that money and put it in a fund to buy the next phone.

Unless you have an unusually high risk of breaking/losing your phone insurance never makes sense financially. On average you must pay more for the insurance than you would benefit.
My phone got dropped into a cooler with water and ice yesterday at a picnic, it currently is sitting in a jar of rice to see if it brings it back 100%. It kind of works but the graphics are a little messed up when transitioning screens and the sound is a little garbled.
I went to the Assurian website to file a claim and it didn't tell me what I would get just that I had an Audiovox Droid Incredible. So I'm assuming that I will get another Dinc1.
What do you 'hate' about the inc2 over the inc1 (besides no perm root)?
The root is the huge thing... The power on button is on the other side of the phone lol... And I think my charging port is broken already (going to vzw tomorrow to get it looked at)
Yes a sotwere root is stil in beta slated to come out when they are done with it if that happens... Another thing I hate is the wimpy outer speaker on the phone
so I got my replacement and the screen is definitely not the same as the original. Terrible quality, the screen contrast looks washed out, screen will slightly dim on its own, and it has a blue tint when the sun reflects on it. I don't know if this is common with replacements they send?

You must have gotten the version with the regular LCD screen. The original Inc came with a much better AMOLED screen.

It seems like he/she may be describing a manufacturers defect. I would not describe the Super LCD screen that new incredible are shipped with as "terrible quality" or "washed out" even when compared to the AMOLED screen of the older incredibles.
I just got a replacement DI1 today. Was pretty happy about it, but the screen was buggy and when I did a battery pull all my homescreens were gone. Called for a replacement and now getting a DI2. Guess it's true that what you get depends on when you submit a claim.
Tried to get a new phone through their online claim page and was DENIED! This is phone #5 or so that has a blown external speaker but the reply was that isn't an insurable issue and it was a malfunction that Verizon has to handle. Well my 1 year warranty is gone so I don't see them doing anything either. I think I will cancel the Asurian insurance, whats the point if they won't trade me out for a phone that works 100%?

you have to call... the online form will always tell you that if it is a manufacturer's defect because there is no where to say that your warrenty is up. if you tell a rep that, they will give you a new phone. All you have to do is pay for the deductible.
Or you could just break the screen and put that on the form... broke is broke

Because you have INSURANCE, and not the extended warranty. Do you get mad at you're car insurer because they won't cover you if you're transmission breaks?

Not if he's trying to get Extended Warranty coverage when he's just paying for insurance (ok, I don't know if that's the case).
EDIT: to the OP, many times "blown" speakers just have metal stuck inside then, which you could remove with a magnet and be good to good. If the speaker has actually blown, you can replace the speaker for a lot less than you'd pay for the deductible.

Ready for this...? My brother-in-law purchased his Inc this past November/December and it was an SLCD. He dropped it about two months ago and shattered the screen. He lived with it for a while until he dropped it again and now it is worse. Well long story short he received his Asurion replacement and it is a hardware version 0002. Now unless I am mixing up my hardware versions, wouldn't this mean he has an AMOLED? Thought that was interesting, and reassuring in case my AMOLED breaks.
As a side note, my AMOLED Inc (owned since release date) says hardware version 0003...I am contacting the dev of the ROM I am using to see if this is a program issue.
And lastly, to follow up to the OP that I posted some time ago. My mother-in-law eventually did get an Inc replacement from Asurion.
Yes, I pretty much put most of my family on Incredibles.
its a smart phone and the smart phone deductable is i think 90 or 100 ... the 50 is only for dumb phones if there are anymore still floating around out there

When I call Verizon to try to get my Dinc replaced am I getting assurion on the line or do I call assurion directly? last time I got my Dinc replaced I dialed 611? Is that the same as dialing assurion?
When alltell existed, I walked into the store with a broken phone, only to have them comment that I was not elligible for a replacement as I had made 2 claims in the last year and never notified me I would not be elligible for another phone. Yet I was still paying for insurance? Don't buy insurance... Its so much easier to just go out and buy a new/used phone on amazon or ebay than it is to go through 17 god damn refurbished paper weights.

Alltell is gone and verizon if different if your paying for it you can get as many replacements as you want
Dropped my Dinc Friday night and the screen smashed. Called Asurion this morning and without saying anything they told me "Sir they aren't making Incredibles anymore, will you accept an Incredible2 as a replacement?". Ummmm yeah. I'll have the Dinc2 tomorrow. And about the Deductible... It used to be $50 for ALL phones. At some point in the last 2 years they raised it to $90 but if you insured your phone prior to the rate increase you still only pay $50. So for $50 Im getting a Dinc2 without any hassle.

611 is Verizon's customer support, what you receive through them is usually WARRANTY service.
A lot of folks get confused when talking about replacing their phones.
If your phone is under 1 yr and you take it to Verizon with a issue (not "I dropped it") this is warranty.
If your phone is over a year or you dropped it, lost it, etc. This is insarance replacement. (If you talk to 611 they'll direct you to Asurion's number)

While we're being pedantic, if your phone and develops a defect, and you need an Extended Warranty, not just insurance.
Insurance covers damage from accidents and lost/stolen devices, but nothing that would be covered under warranty.

Personally I think all phone insurance is a waste for most users (unless you're at a very high risk of breaking your phone). And I refuse on principle to PAY for warranty coverage after a year for something Verizon is making me take a 2 year contract on.

But that's just me.
i completely agree with you that we dont get a two year warranty is complete crap but i know my track record with cell phones so i just pay the extra and i know between me and my mom the amount of phones we have had thought warranty replacements alone have paided for the the two years we will be on contract and then SOME lol yeah its that bad
