I'd fight them for my money back or a replacement incredible. My experience with my friend's Moto X has been pretty bad. It is about as laggy as another friend's Fascinate, which is really bad.
Being as I'm on #3 refurb I find this disturbing. I hope they can build up their Incredible refurb stock before I need another. Even though I've had more than my fair share of problems with the Dinc.. I'm not in the least bit interested in something different as a replacement.
As of today I have a new message in MyVerizon when I log in. It says that I'm eligible for a new phone with "Discount Pricing" but if I wait until December 28th I can get a NE2 or Loyalty Discount. I know, I know NE2 is discontinued, but not for those of us that have one last upgrade coming. Anyway, I think I am dropping my Asurion now. I can afford $200 for a new phone if I happen to need one. If I have to replace my Dinc it will be a $100 Asurion charge anyway. I can save $48 x2 =$96 on my phone and my wife's phone. Just makes financial sense now, especially since they are out of my phone anyway.

I only paid 100 for full 2 years of coverage through Squaretrade. They have a $50 deductible for accidental damage only; warranty issues have no charge. Regardless of the problem, they give you a $600 check for the non contract price of the phone; much better than someone's used, crappy refurb. You can also prorate the insurance through them.

That's is not entirely true. I was under the same impression but I too have a Squaretrade warranty on my Dinc. I recently cracked the screen on it and had to file a claim. I sent in my phone and made my $50 deductible payment. Then sent the phone in for inspection. (2 day air that they paid for) They "fixed" my phone and sent it back to me. I say fixed with quotes because when I received it back (it was my phone) the notifications bar would not pull down, so I called and need to send it back. They again replaced the screen and sent it back to me (still my phone) when I received it back it looked great and worked however when I applied normal pressure on the screen the entire screen turned blue, so yup... back to them again it went. I have now been with out my Dinc for 23 days. I have not received it back yet for the 3rd time. Will let you know how it turns out. So to think that they will just send you a $600 check after your deductible, I can assure you that it is not the way they do business. Supposedly if it goes back 3 times for the same problem they will send you the replacement value up to $600. This is my 3rd time, we will see if I get a check or my phone. Also, any claims you make with them, the repair costs will come off of the $600. Screen replacement is $100 according to them. Sorry for the long rant but want people to know exactly what they are signing up for.

i realllllllly hope this isnt true. i have a replacement on the way from a clim i filed this morning.. damn thing fell and the display wont turn on anymore. so i reactivated my old samsung slide phone as a safety precaution, as i am leaving on wed for a week on the motorcycle and needed a phone. but if they give me a Droid X......ill be arguing til i get the upgrade for free to the inc2.
i literally just got off the phone with Asurion...

If mine gets sent to them, I will make sure it is not fixable; thanks for the heads up.

This. Is. Terrible. There's no comparison between the two. I should just drop the insurance and deal with getting a new phone of my own choice if something goes wrong.

and according to the verizon rep i dealt with on the phone, the SKU for the incredible on their system is being replaced, in accordance with the asurion issue, to reflect the droid x swap out.

When you signed your agreement with insurance it clearly states that if the phone isnt available they send you something "comparable" to what you have.
Also, the Moto X should be faster then the Incredible, and my Fascinate is faster than my Incredible and gets better Quadrant scores too. Idk what your friends are doing to their phones!

That is the thing, they haven't done anything to their phones. In fact, both of their phones were brand new when I was messing with them; they asked me to set them up since it was their first smartphone.

They are both aftermarket launcher away from being smooth. I always hated my friends X until I decided to swap Go onto it and kill Blur. Instantly 1000x better. The X is a great phone when set up right, and by set up right I mean Blur is replaced.

You can pick up a very good condition Inc on ebay for around $200. I just did. There are plenty of them out there.
To me that is reason enough to not carry insurance.
I like the X, but I much prefer the Inc, so I would be pretty pissed if I were in that situation.

That's only if you have/can get an upgrade. I, for example, still have 13 months left on my contract and am not eligible for an early upgrade as far as I know (not that anybody is after this cycle), so upgrading to an Inc2/Thunderbolt is not an off the shelf option (although you should generally be able to talk somebody into letting you upgrade if you threaten to leave).

That is all fine and good if you qualify for an upgrade discount. Not all of us are in the same boat. Plus, are Inc 2's even out yet?
Edit: I see that they are out, apparently.
What exactly does that have that the Inc1 doesn't, besides a larger screen (which is not a good thing for many of us)?

inc2 is a world phone and has a front facing camera, there is a review on phandroid.com...not so great...

...which is also the first not stellar review its received. Its no revolutionary like the OG Inc was, but its a solid step forward and for Engadget to give it 8/10 (well, it was the Inc S, but basically the same thing) when they are as big of Android haters as they are, HTC must have done some good with it.

I agree, it's not a bad phone, but I'd personally still take the inc1 over it but then again I have no plans to travel overseas within the next year or so.

Do you have a link...this is the phandroid review I found. 5 stars, "Aside from the fairly disappointing media experience on this device, everything is top notch."

Of course it's top notch. The Inc1 is top notch, and this phone is basically the same thing. lol

Yeah, that's the review. Should of been more clear, I didn't mean the review was bad, just that the inc2 doesn't offer anything much over the inc1. At least nothing that I don't have with ROMS, and the world feature/FFC I have no use for. I'd miss the optical trackpad and the 6GB internal storage.

Agreed, if I was looking to upgrade from some other phone the inc2 looks pretty good. However, with my Incredible Classic, I have little interest.
That's sucks. I think the thunderbolt or inc2 should replace our Inc's
LOL your joking right? you seriously think you should get a brand new 4G phone as a replacement for a year old Dinc?
the fact is ALL these warranties explicitly state they can replace with a "comparable" phone at their discretion. And yes the "droid X" IS a comparable replacement phone for the Dinc. you may not "like" the phone but it is comparable spec wise...
They get the refurb phones in batches. If you don't want to accept a non-Inc replacement you may just have to keep calling in for a few days until they get some more.
Happened to me with my Droid X which back in November oddly enough they wanted to send me an Inc and I said no. It ended up taking about a week before they had X's back in stock, and after receiving the replacement I decided it was just way too buggy a phone and switched to an Inc anyway (but did sell the X for $400 and got a BNIB Inc on craigslist for $200).

The incredible is definitely the better phone from my experience. Also, stargate SG-1?

I agree, night-and-day difference. X was a neat phone but I quickly realized it was way too big of a phone for my needs, and the bugs drove me crazy. The Inc has pretty much been a perfect phone for me. The only issue I've had since switching at the beginning of the year is it wiped the SD card the first week I had it but since then no other issues. I definitely wouldn't accept an X as a warranty or insurance replacement for an Inc!
Wondering if I should drop my insurance, I still have ~11 months on my contract. I would not want a Moto X to replace my dinc, I don't like Moto droid phones...

I'm too trying to determine if I should drop insurance. I am eligible for early upgrade but my wife is not and her phone is probably in more need of replacement. But the main thing keeping me back from doing anything is I don't want to be locked into two more years of verizon knowing they will never have annual upgrades again. I'm so angry at them I'd like to go to Sprint or some other company when our contracts are up, even though everyone we know is on verizon

They will tell you they are "out of Incredibles" and the Droid X is the replacement option...
However...
If you're a little persistent and insistent by, say, demanding that you would prefer to have an HTC device, that you as a consumer prefer the HTC brand to the Motorola brand...
You might find your options changing dramatically. That is, the Droid X might not be your one and only choice. It might also help to politely ask to speak with a member of the "Advanced Customer Care" team to aid you in fulfilling your needs.
This scares me so much I have a full year still left on my contract add I am on third Inc... and I don't think there is anywhy my referable will last another 12 months
And also I am an huge rooter and rommer how and the hell am I disposed to do that with the super crappy d X

yeah i hear ya, but i would rather have an x then to have to shell out money for what ever i find on Craigslist.
This is so weird because I just called and asked if they still had droid incs and the lady said yes
I depends on your region and when assurion may get a new shipment of referb d Inc ... so I guess untilled they are compleaty out its a matter of trimming and luck
I just got a replacement DINC from ASSurion yesterday so they apparently have them. Unfortunately, the one I received apparently is also defective... press NEXT to continue.... you could press next with a hammer and it wouldn't do anything.
According to the manager I escalated to, they are sending me a 'new' DINC that I should receive this afternoon. I'll believe it when I see it.
I called ASSurion to get a tracking number and they 'for some reason' never shipped it yesterday. The story is also changing in that while last night they said they had Incredible-1's, as of this morning they don't have any and are sending me an Incredible-2.
I've always viewed the US Postal Service as the most inept organization I've ever dealt with. At this point, ASSurion has not only passed them, they hit bottom and started digging.
Best Buy has them in stock. A friend of mine placed his Dinc in his softball bag and when he went to get it after the game, it's screen was shattered. He went to BBY and they said no problem, we'll have another for you in 2 days.
i know was the days go on they will have less and less and the chances of me getting one if my phone breaks goes down more and more too but o well ill live with it
