I agree with you on My Verizon, but not Backup Assistant. Your contacts are backed up by Google and sync to the cloud. There's no need for another piece of software that does the same thing.
Bumping this thread back up as we may have quite a few users leaving for the nexus (i'll be one of them later today !)
Don't worry, I'll still be around to keep (try) this place organized and help out as much as i can.

My DInc is done. My DInc2 has made me fall in love with it. I keep thinking I'll do something with the DInc, but haven't so far. It just sits there on my dresser and collects dust.

Saying so long to my DROID Incredible (and so long to my signature). The Galaxy Nexus was too nice to pass up this morning.
It was a great phone, a great device. One of the best purchases I ever made. Despite the issues (low space mainly), it was a true champion. It now will be a backup device.
I said my goodbyes to my Incredible yesterday at 4:40 as I had my service officially transferred to my Galaxy Nexus. While it has left my hands, it is not retired. My son had a Droid 2 with a cracked screen that was getting long in the tooth. I gave my Incredible to him. God speed Dinc . . . God speed. With this post I say goodbye to my Incredible, I am saying to this thread goodbye as well.
Thanks to everyone who has been here and stuck around for 20 months with me. Many of you are now in the Gnex thread or Rizound thread (and maybe even the Razr thread). I expect this place to be even more of a ghost town than it has been. But like every ghost town, there is a story to be told of when it was a booming exciting place to be. There has never been a place MORE exciting than the Dinc thread on AF in it's time.
CBF- OUT!

My plan was to use it as an MP3 player/iTouch like device. There just doesn't seem to be room in my life for yet another device though.
If/when I get one of these fancy new phones, that'll be what I do with the DInc. My wife and I have almost 400 CDs in two 200 disc changers. We're working on ripping all the CDs and moving the music to portable devices. Mostly because the changers take up SO much space in the entertainment center. We're wanting to condense that spot in the living room.
Well, we're needing to move some stuff to make room for the bigger TV we just bought...

It's coming about that time. It's not you, its me. You are the best phone I have had to date. Updated 3 times and only 1 officially. We have had good times with Eclair, Froyo, and Gingerbread. Even though I'm moving to a new phone, you are currently my best portable media device in my arsenal. Since the Low Space issue has finally been fixed, you are a beast among phones.
I'm going iPhone 4S, I'm switching sides but I'll still keep you around for time to come.

OMG... Thanks for the laugh this AM...!! that is great... Did he\she have anything to say back to ya? I am debating on doing the same thing. Just curious, what made you decide to switch sides? Why aren't you going with the Rezound or Nexus?
I said goodbye to my Incredible about 2 weeks ago, but of all the phones I've owned, the Inc was the best phone ive had, and even though I've moved on, my Inc is still my primary backup, and always will be. The DROID Incredible served well, and always will in the time to be used soon.
I am ready to say goodbye to my Dinc but I cannot find a phone that excites me enough to switch. This phone does everything I need.
This is a great phone!
This is where I am also. I'd love to have a Gnex or Resound, but I can't really think of anything I can do on them that I'm not able to do on the Dinc. Sure, they are faster, but I don't find myself waiting on the Dinc. Eventually we'll get ICS, and I'll be a happy camper.

Same place I am at, I got the Rezound and returned it. $299 for what? The Inc does everything I need as well. The Rezound has a bigger bit more vibrant screen, but other then that, no real difference. Are you rooted? or are you saying you think HTC\Verizon will give an OTA of ICS?
I was the first in line for a Nexus on release day. I've enjoyed getting to know many of you here and the Inc was my first Android device so it will be missed. That said, I've still been lurking here and likely will continue to for awhile.

Yep, it's the $299 that I'm really hanging up on. If I could get one of these for under $200, then I'd probably be all over it. I just can't justify that much money for some extra speed (that I won't get much use from) and a nicer screen (when I don't think the screen on the DInc is bad).
I'm not expecting an OTA of ICS for the DInc.
My phone is rooted, and I expect the XDA Devs to do their usual good work and get a working ICS ROM at some point. There is already one in Alpha testing that looks promising, but it's not yet ready to be a daily driver.

Congrats on the new phone Iowa. If I were going to go for one, that would be the one I'd get. Keep us posted on how you like it.

Part of the reason why I bought the DInc 2 was because it's a world phone. I can take it to any other carrier other than Sprint if I want to which is nice.
And you can use it most places in the world :-) - a major plus for me.
I have the original Dinc .. I don't need/want a physical keyboard, and other than the iPhone I don't see another Android phone under Verizon that has the GSM feature. 4" seems like a good size too, not too big. The only problem is that this phone isn't quite "cutting edge" having been out for a while now.
Anyone know of any Android phones coming soon to Verizon that will also have GSM? The latest crop of phones for Verizon are only CDMA unfortunately.
Yeah, I'm keeping my Inc for now. I'm up for an upgrade currently, and my hubby has been up for one for a year now. He still has his Moto Droid (yes, the first one) but he has lots of trouble with it. I think he just didn't want to have to make a decision as to which new Droid to get! There just aren't any sexy phones out there right now and I'm going to wait.
I finally decided on the HTC Rezound Monday. It should arrive tomorrow. Got a super deal at Amazon for $149 for an upgrade! The price point was my main hangup, but for $150 less than Verizon's upgrade price, I had to pull the trigger. No, it's not a major upgrade over the regular Incredible, but knowing how much I've loved my Incredible, I feel that the Rezound will last me a couple of years at minimum because it has the speed and capability that I need. Not to mention, it'll eventually get ICS and the Inc probably will not.
You may reconsider your words that the Rezound is not a major upgrade once you have unit in hand. It's true the migration is easy because the UI is the same but that's why I wanted the Rezound. I loved my Dinc and the UI... I wanted the same experience just faster and more smooth. Not to mention it's beautiful screen, better camera, sound quality, and 4g. I think the Rezound is a major upgrade...in the direction of my liking.
Although I love my Incredible and enjoy it even more now that its runnning CM7, I have to say I cannot wait for my next upgrade. I went into the Verizon store yesterday and played with the Galaxy Nexus for a few minutes. I was worried that it would be too bulky (T-bolt) or too wide (haven't been a fan of 4.3 inch screens). I didn't feel that at all with this phone. It felt nice in my hand and was comforatble to use. Plus, it runs so smooth. Even my girlfriend (who doesn't really care what phione she uses) fell in love with it. No lag, very responsive and runs like a dream. Plus, ICS is a fantastic overhaul UI wise and the features seem like a lot of fun to learn to use. I haven't been this impressed with a phone since I first played with an Incredible. I'll be happy when an ICS ROM pops up for the Incredible, but that will just keep me from being breaking into a Verizon store and taking a Nexus before my upgrade.

Yea I'm with you. I just reset my Inc and rooted getting my low storage under control. Put Go launcher on it and it's running great. When I consider what I do on my phone on a daily basis I can see no reason to spend $299, extend my contract and get a new phone. I think a used tablet would be more useful to me right now.

I've been to Verizon several times in the past few weeks checking out the new crop of smartphones. I'm due to upgrade like a lot of others on the 29th. Been reading up on the forums, have not fallen for any of the latest and greatest. 4g just doesn't seem ready yet. So many issues compared to what I have now. Maybe the next wave of newness will contain my next incredible smartness. The razor is too wide. The nexus too weird. The rezound is tickling my fancy, but the static wallpaper bugs me. I love how the incredible wallpaper rolls with the screens. Now that I've rooted this phone I think I'll make it till the next phase of phonyness arrives. Hopefully my trouble free incredible can too. It's by far the best phone I've EVER owned.
It's funny you mention a Car GPS, that's exactly why I want a bigger phone then the Dinc, is so I can use it as a GPS in the car, I find the Dinc. too small
I use a Garmin NUVI in the car, since I don't want to lose the smaller size advantage of the DInc for pocket carry. Dedicated GPSs are really low cost items now!
FWIW, I once used a Palm Treo 700W for GPS in the car with a bluetooth GPS receiver. It was quite usable for me.
My boss got the OG Droid, but I knew I didn't want a keyboard or the 1st gen. In February, I discovered the Incredible... SOLD! Should be coming out soon right?
I found these forums looking for more info, joined just so I could post a funny quip in the epic thread.
Took a day off from work on April 29 and got there early to get my first smartphone. 20 months later it's in great condition. I had rooted and flashed ROMs, but everyone one of them gave me trouble. For the last few weeks, Gmail hasn't synced, my calendar stopped working, and my Timeriffic stopped working.
Couldn't decide between the GNex and Rezound. I felt as though the Rezound wasn't enough of an upgrade for me. But given all of the hardware problems, I'm happily holding my Rezound.
The Inc will live on as a spare for my wife and me, and possibly to use while in the house for looking up things.
Farewell.

Well i just went got the RAZR and so far i love it. It's snappier and love the screen and the weight of it i just love. Ya im not a huge fan of the size the screens are now but ill get used to it

I've had my Rezound for a week now. I can't tell you how often I reached to use the trackpad that I'm used to on the Inc. I only used it for precisely positioning the cursor in text, but that was enough.

There is an alpha 2 that I have been using as my daily driver for almost a week with no issue except the camera not working.
I'd be interested to see some screen shots. This is just plane ICS right, not with Sense laid over the top? Is there anyway you can post some screen shots or is taking a look at the Nexus about what you are getting with this ROM?
iTunes and the whole Apple control, not to mention no navigation on the stock phone? Siri.. who cares really, it might be fun for the 1st month or two... I do agree on the form factor, the iPhone4s feel and size is an awesome phone in that respect.

There is NO sense on this ROM...pure vanilla. I am using ADW EX launcher because I dont like text under my icons, but the stock one is there and the CM9 "Trebuchet" launcher works as well.
Not sure what all you want to see but here are some shots...

Awesome... Thanks.. I have a backup Inc for toying around with, I may update it. May wait to see when the stable daily driver build comes out though...
However, when this phone dies and android phones keep growing and the iPhone keeps its form factor, Imma go iPhone.
This is the only thing I am beginning to wonder, and I would agree with ya. If all the Android phones continue to grow in size and the iPhone keeps it form factor, I will have to debate making the switch... If you jailbreak the iPhone you can setup the notification bar and install the TomTom navigation app for for free...

I don't think you can get the TomTom app free without pirating it?
I do agree with you both on the size thing. My contract is officially up next month. I went to best buy to look at the current handsets. They all sucked size wise. some of them I can't even reach my thumb across the screen. Others are so huge I'd swear I could beat a mugger to death with them if I needed to. If I was ever shipwrecked, I could make a sail out of my clothes and float home using the phone as a raft. They're ridiculously huge.

.. Yep the size of the new phones seems to be either a like or hate scenerio for most. I say the TomTom app you can get for free after your phone is jailbroke just becaues there is a couple guys here at work that have it on their jailbroke iPhone4... I forgot what site they got it off of. I could find out.
