I was waiting on incredible 4g when I went to get thunderbolt for my wife. Found out i could get nexus for free for me and $20 for wife. So my kids are enjoying the incredibleS without call or text. I'll be around here til the lights go out but I now have the nexus. Like it a lot.
You're who I have to thank for calling around and finding it on special lol.
Well I was holding out for the new Inc 4G and still am, but the screen went on my Org Inc, not the digitizer, but the actual screen. They want to much for a replacement for the Sony SLCD Screen so I found a great deal on an Inc 2 that I now own until the Inc 4G comes out. But my time on this forum will now come to an end. Maybe chat with some of ya on the other forums. It's been fun...!
What a great ride! Like so many others, I was a launch day Incredible convert from an LG Dare. Definitely an iPhone beater of its time. I stood in line at the VZW store at 630am to be first in line and had pre-arranged with a sales associate to get my phone. It has been an awesome device. If it weren't for the shared data plans and the fact that I will lose unlimited data if I wait any longer, I wouldn't be upgrading. This thing still rocks! But the technology changes over the next two years will probably render the device somewhat crippled. Alas, I pre-ordered the GS3 a few days ago and I have to say I'm as excited about getting my hands on it as I was with the Dinc. The GS3 looks like a great device, I hope after 4 or 5 years it's as nostalgic as the Dinc. I can still use the Dinc over WiFi. It will be my new alarm clock or something!
i think this is the end!
being forced into a galaxy s3 to save my unlimited data
maybe something else will come out before 14 days after receiving it..
I am upgrading because I was forced to upgrade to keep my unlimited data. Upgraded to the GS3. Goodbye Dinc, it was a great ride that lasted over 2 years.
Looks like the better half and I will both be saying bye to our Incredibles soon, also because of tiered data. I kind of wish I could hold out for the Razr HD but will be getting the GS3 o beat the deadline.
Sounds like a running theme. It was a great phone. If I remember correctly, I was up after midnight so I could pre-order. Been able to get a new phone since Dec 28th, but nothing has really appealed to me like this phone did. Definitely had the "wow factor". Good Bye Incredible - Hello Samsung GS3.
Dropped it face down onto asphalt last week Laid it to rest and took the wife's Droid 2 and she went back to a feature phone (she couldn't be happier, but that's another story). Can't say I miss it terribly as that memory leak bug broke gmail sync and a previous drop left a dent in the battery cover, reminding me of the questionable build quality. I think this phone may have been the peak for HTC as I haven't been impressed with anything they've made since. I'm eligible for an upgrade in a month so I may get something new and retire the Droid 2 (don't really care for the slide-out keyboard or brick-like form factor).
I'll be passing my Incredible down to my wife who doesn't really want a smartphone, but I think will do very well with. I'm upgrading to the S3 - but I will also keep the Incredible up and running so that I don't lose touch with it. An absolutely great phone that has performed very well over the last 2+ years.
For those Verizon users who are keeping their unlimited data plans, does it work if/when you get a new 4G phone? I still have my Incredible from launch day, and the unlimited data plan. If I were to activate a 4G phone on that line, would it be able to use 4G without modifying the unlimited plan?
Meaning, when the Incredible 4G comes out, can I buy one unsubsidized and just activate it on my account without losing my unlimited data plan and have it work with 4G?

I'm getting the S3 in blue whenever verizon decides to send it to me. I'll miss the Inc. My first smart phone was the Omnia and that sucked. Then I got the moto droid, but had a ton of problems in a row so they upgraded me to an Inc. I've had my fair share of problems with it, but it has been one awesome phone. Fairwell my friend.
The Incredible was my first smartphone. Had this phone for like a year and a half. Phone has been good, except for the battery. Being forced to upgrade because of verizon getting rid of grandfather unlimited data, getting the Galaxy Nexus.

I don't make many calls I love my Nexus. I hope you do too. I haven't rooted even though they have jelly bean roms
I got an Incredible 1.5 years ago and it was my first smartphone. I just upgraded to the Galaxy S3 to keep my unlimited data. My wife isn't eligible for her upgrade until August so I'm hoping the Incredible 4G will be out by then so she has a choice between that and the GS3.
Well, the time has come. I only have a few more days with my DInc and then I'm off to a GSM Galaxy Nexus. The DInc was my first smartphone and it has been wonderful. My contract ended on 18th so I've been free for almost 2 weeks now. The Nexus should be coming next week.
I believe HTC sent me one of their special DIncs because this thing was a tank. I've dropped it so many times and the screen hasn't shattered. I can only hope that my Nexus will be at least half the phone that my DInc was.
Also, we had the best forum on this site. I remember Summer of 2010 and this place was wild. Has any other phone garnered that amount of activity on this forum.

I got my Incredible almost two and a half years ago after switching from an original Iphone. I got it right before the launch day. My friend worked at Verizon and snagged it for me. It was a very good phone most of the time, except for the last few months. Now It doesn't text and I don't get voice mails. Every since my last upgrade it's been a piece of shyte. Will be receiving an S3 tomorrow. I can't wait. Not sad at all to get rid of this thing. It did it's job for a long time.
As long as you buy unsubsidized or use an upgrade from another line you can keep your unlimited
Or just poke and prod people in person until you find someone that caves
Pre-ordered my SGS3 yesterday at a Best Buy and get to keep my unlimited. It helps to talk to managers, but I can't stress that the main 2 keys are A) Try, Try again and B) Talk to them in person!
Anyways, I'll be joining the Verizon SGS3 lot, and hope to see plenty of the HTC Incers over there! It'll be nice to have something new again, get back to the old battery analyses, feature hunts, and new troubleshooting that we had in the early days of the Inc
I enjoyed our incredible run Incredible, but you look tired. Get some rest, Mr. GS3 will take the heavy lifting from here.

Just the same approach I will take. I will be sensible.
Count me in as another loyal Incredible user who pre-ordered the G3 in order to keep unlimited data. The phone should be arriving today, so my time with the Incredible is down to a mere few hours.
This was my first smartphone and I'll always have a fondness for it. It's been a very reliable phone for the most part, but I had to root it to really make it serviceable (and get rid of the dreaded low space error). I also had to carry around an additional battery at all times since the battery life was dreadful. But it rarely let me down and it was a great introduction to the world of Android. I'm now ready to move on to bigger and better... I'm looking forward to mingling with former Dinc users at the G3 forum!

Oh yea. I forgot to mention: Treat them nicely. Don't go in and immediately start demanding, yelling, threatening, etc. Talk to them, make your case, and make it clear that the Unlimited Data is important to you.
I joined AF during the OG Dinc speculation thread's heyday. (FWIW, I always believed the box was real. ) I waited while the first pre-orders trickled out, until mine finally arrived. First smartphone. Loved it.
Watched it grow up from an Eclair infant to a Froyo adolescent, where it began to act out, introducing the now-legendary low-memory errors. Unwilling to wait for an OTA GB release, I gave it some tough-love rooting, and installed Nils' Business Gingersense 2.1/3.0 for a more disciplined experience. But it didn't last. I tried Nils' BGS 3.5 which teased me with a nicer overall feel, but actually was less reliable.
Convinced that I would grab the prematurely announced, badly named HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE, I flashed CM7 to buy some time. It rejuvenated the phone and reminded me why I thought so highly of it.
Still, it's time to let this one go, and for me to move on. The FedEx stork has just dropped a bundle of S3 joy on my doorstep, and I can't wait to meet it.
I jumped ship to the Inc 2 because the screen on my Org Inc died. The Inc 2 was going to be a temp phone until the Inc 4G came out. Well with Verizon's BS antics with getting rid of unlimited data and a $30 "upgrade" fee, I have chosen to wait on the Inc 4G.
Given that, this Inc 2 gets much worse reception then the Org Inc I had. All you people jumping ship, do you have an Org Inc you are willing to part with in GOOD to Excellent shape, preferably rooted? If so PM me, if the price is right I would be interested!!

You sir are the one whose posts convinced me to get a second og dinc to toy around with. Which I still have both. One is wifi only. When and if I upgrade I will still keep these around. Google calender/alarm clock to experiment with.

Yep, I had 2 of them. When word of the Inc 4G came out, i sold one thinking I would be upgrading soon anyway. Well then the one I had the screen died on me as I am sure you probably read in my post. So I got the Inc 2 instead, wanted to try it out. All though it is a nice phone as well. The Org Inc gets much better reception. As you also know I have decided to wait on getting the Inc 4G when I can find one on Ebay or swappa for less then $499... You can sell me one of your nice Org Inc..
Typing from my new gs3. I loved my incredible and held on till it was to slow and grabbed the s3 as my last cool chance option to keep unlimited.
I have to say the incredible was a great phone and the s3? Oh my gosh what an upgrade. I used to run a double capacity battery in the Inc. The s3 just goes all day long now.
I've held and played around with a couple different gs3 devices and they really are sweet. I really believe that I could get used to that phone. If I cannot get a satisfactory solution to an upgrade on Verizon, then maybe I'll switch to sprint when they launch their lte later this month. Might just be the verizon killer move.
Switched from a Windows phone to the DINC almost 2 years ago. I loved everything about the phone except batt life. Went to the double batt almost immediately and still had trouble getting through an entire day without a charge.
But what a GREAT PHONE!!
Others in the company were switching to newer devices all the time, but I stayed with my DINC.
Then the dreaded low memory bug surfaced. After 3 hard resets, I finally threw in the towel. Our main office said that everybody was happy with their iPhone 4s and they sent one to me.
Interesting device. Screen is MUCH better in sunlight but it just isn't as versatile as a Droid.
I expressed my concerns and they told me I would love it if I just tried it for a month with an open mind.
Month is up. I gave the 4s a fair shot but I really miss the DINC in the drawer.
Looks like a SG3S is in my future because I don't see anything else I like.
Heck I would even reactivate the DINC if I knew I wouldn't get the memory error again in a month or two.

No love for the droid incredible 4g lte from verizon wireless?

I left my incredible for an S3 two days ago. I didn;t like it and now I/m back with the incredible. I hope it runs forever.
I got the Inc2 when my Org Inc died. I have been looking at the new Inc 4G, but the longer I hold off the more I think I might pass. I have a couple bids on the Org Inc on Ebay right now. Looking to come back to the Org Inc for now. I like the Inc 2, but the reception of the Org Inc is much better. I miss my Org Inc. I agree with ya, if I get another one soon I hope it runs forever as well!
Whelp I've had my gs3 for about 2 weeks now and I'm in love...but I couldn't resist the thought of jelly bean on my incredible had to break it out again and flash 4.1
Well it's been back and forth for me. Had the Inc for a long time, my screen died a few months back so I picked up an Inc2. The reception of that phone sucks, so I purchased another Inc a while ago and have been using it again. Well Sunday evening I bit the bullet and ordered the new Inc 4G. I gave up my unlimited data to get it subsidized. It really doesn't matter for me since 90% of the time I am on wifi anyway. I am lucky if I use 1/5th of a 2gig plan. I have sold both the Inc2 and Org Inc already this week. New phone will be here tomorrow. I will miss the Inc, but am looking forward to the new one. See you guys on some of the other forums maybe! It's been a fun ride on this forum.

Whoa Nellie. Slow yer roll. No back-up phone? You need a spare.

Naaa.. for what? I just bought a bran new phone with a 15 month manufacturer warranty and the insurance. Something happens to it, I get a new one. I won't go back to an older phone any longer.

I won't give up my incredible for around the house though. Extends the battery of my 4g3. The bluetooth issue is kind of bugging me now. Maybe an update will fix it. And that calculator thing, that's plain silly. Hope it's treating you well so far. It's a lot different, but in a good way.
Wow, it's been almost 2 years since I've been here, but I remember the big fuss we were all throwing waiting for Froyo to push. I bought my Dinc back in June 2010 and had to wait over a month for the back orders to ship. I came here to discuss the phone and hopefully learn a trick or two about my first smartphone before it arrived. I remember eagerly waiting for the fedex truck to arrive home, and how much excited I was when it arrived 50 minutes before my work shift started.
I purchased the Rezound back in April for $50, and ended up unrooting and installing OTA Gingerbread on my Dinc. It's with my girlfriend now who uses it as a wifi phone since she can't afford a plan just yet.
Even with the Rezound going through its ICS dilemma, I can't help but be reminded of how anxious we all were for 2.2 to roll out. Even though I only stayed active for a couple of months, I learned a lot in that time both about phones and android.

I am sad to say that my Droid Incredible took a tumble today and the screen shattered. As an original adopter in April of 2010, I have found it difficult to find another phone that is any better. I bought a S3 to preserve my unlimited data with no intention of using it, and it wasn't any better than the INcredible IMO. I am so disappointed....
...... Heck I would even reactivate the DINC if I knew I wouldn't get the memory error again in a month or two.
I got those for a while, but since I flashed CM7.2 & moved some of the larger apps (Adobe Flash, Adobe Air, Facebook, etc.) to the SD card, I don't anymore.
That's it. Fourteen days have come and gone so the 4g3 is mine for the foreseeable future. So far it's been a kick. Great phone. So it's time to designate my og Droid Incredible to a much respected position on the nightstand. It is still a fantastic device which will still see a whole lot of use for all its abilities, except of course a phone. So no sweet goodbye, I'll run you till death do we part.
For whatever reason, I can't help but come back here and look around. I haven't had my DINC in 8 months. I gave it to my son when I got my Galaxy Nexus. He fell about 3 weeks ago with it in his hand and shattered it's screen. Now he also has a Galaxy Nexus (for free from Best Buy). I'm glad to see there are still those with the Dinc in their hands.

It's actually surprising how many people still have it. A testament to a great phone with a great dev community.

After getting bent over and screwed one too many times by Verizon, I finally cancelled my contract and moved to Virgin pre-pay, and with it, replaced my Dinc with the One V.
I love the One V. It feels very solid, and it's nice to finally have a good option in the sub-4in screen range for those of us with little hands, after a year or two of phones only getting bigger. Battery life is better, UI on ICS is MUCH improved, and over-all I'm loving it.
But I'll miss my ole' Dinc. She served me well for almost 2 years and still worked great. Good-bye, old friend.
Still use my D'inc every single day as my "around the house" backup phone. I love it, tweak it constantly, and lost my Android virginity to it. I have a toss-away LG as my actual daily driver (voice phone communication only), but carry my D'inc everywhere, too. What is the end-all, be-all, root-able phone out today that I should consider looking at if I wanted to replace my current situation with a single daily driver (a brand new model). And what good used models should I consider as well if I wanted to activate with a service vendor of my choice. I'm in Cocoa, FL, if that makes any difference. And again, I must have root access on any replacement phone I get. I LOVE to tinker. Thanks in advance for any feedback or recommendations. Really, thanks gang!
Just preordered the Droid DNA and will finally decommissioning my DINC1 that I've had since before they originally hit the shelves, a real trooper of a phone. I'd keep it around but it keeps overheating into a shutdown when I'm pushing a 3G signal.
