I don't have time to look go through older posts, but isn't HTC sponsoring some parties at the SXSW festival next week? I'm wondering if there will be a few people sporting the "Incredible" who will be touring the various venues and events testing the device and taking video and photo images with it for posting to their Twitter and/or Flickr accounts? I'm thinking this could be part of a pre-announcement buildup for Verizon a week later at CTIA. Thoughts?
I hope "Moley" can do his youtube previews from these.

NKT, can you tell if it has the noise cancelling mic? Looks like the USB plug is on the side have you heard anything about dock accessories?
Edit: Also can you tell what the Verizon specific sense UI features are?
Edit2: So it has the FM receiver, how about an FM transmiter? (Good for hooking to a car radio without a direct input, which I don't have, or a tape deck adapter, which I do and is ugly).

Hey guys, first time poster here, but I've been lurking since the passion/bravo forums. I'm wondering if we will even have to worry about waiting in line on release day. Wouldn't you consider us a minority of people waiting for this phone? I mean, sure, the average Joe Consumer will no doubt want a taste of it after seeing whatever marketing VZW has in store, but by that time we'll have ours pre-ordered and ready to go.
Ah, my faith is restored! Thanks, NKT, for the putting the "credible" back in Incredible!
On a side note, can anyone comment on the inclusion of Google Navigation and speech-to-text on the Incredible? I'm assuming it's standard like on the N1, but I'm not too familiar with Sense UI products. Thanks.

Not sure about the EC mic. I think there's a port by the speaker for that.
As far as VZW branded stuff, the only things I noted were VVM, and the same VZW tab in the market. It's not like it was loaded with VCAST, VZW Nav, etc...

Yep, same nav as the Eris 2.1. Don't know about STT.
so this definitely is not the final version either. There is no name of the device (that may have not made it to final build) but all HTC phones with Sense say it on the back...don't see that here.

Don't mean to pick on you, but I wonder how much it costs Verizon or other phone companies with all the 30 day returns?
I'd like to run out and pick up an Eris to hold me over, but I just don't feel it would be right.
No, I'm not trying to be holier than thou or anything, just stating a point.
Considering the fact they charge you a $35-$45 restocking fee and then probably re-sell the phone as new I would say they make money off of returns. Just my opinion but I think they are doing okay with it.
So, it's quite obvious that this phone has been evolving for some time now. First it was all red on the back, then we saw the pictures of the red buttons on the sides and red usb port. Now there buttons are all black and only the ring around the camera is red. So, I personally think that it will still have a few minor cosmetic changes before it's released, kinda like when the Bravo turned into the Desire and looked extra polished up and slick when it launched.
NKT, do you know if the phone is in final build status yet? Or do you think it could still evolve a bit more before it's released? And by the way, thanks so much for the information and pictures. I had kinda lost interest lately and you've peaked my interest again. Thanks.

I don't think the device name is usually on the device (or has to be). At least not always. There is no device name on my enV2.

I think this is pretty much production. With the stage it's at in testing, there usually aren't any physical changes.

This looks like it's still not a "Final" version because of the red inside, just like the desire had colored guts, but when it was shown at MWC, the color disappeared.

The speaker is no longer behind a grill on the back of the phone like it was when the back was red. Notice the picture. It's just a little oval shaped hole now.

HTC phones don't have their names on the actual device only the prototype/pre production phones do .

Yep, that's what I think. I'm seeing a pattern developing her with HTC perhaps. Notice that the optical track pad is now round and shiny just like the Desire, where earlier it was just a little hole in the front shiny black plastic casing. I think this thing is going look seriously SICK when it finally releases. It's getting closer, that's for sure.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of the restocking fees. They know best, they wouldn't be doing it if they weren't still making boat loads of cash.

This could still be the final version. They might just be leaving those off the backplate for testers so people are less likely to be certain about what the phone is.
I caved an got a Droid on 3/2. Good thing I have 30 days?
I just returned a Droid on the 30th day; I had no problems paying the $35 restocking fee knowing that something(s) sweet is about to come to VZW.
With today's news from NKT, I'm glad I did return it.

good point but the HD2 mini has yellow guts and they kept that?

I suspect we aren't getting second mic since it seems to be very close to the desire.
Good to hear about the VZW stuff.
Any magnets on the back for docking like the Droid?

Welcome...happy posting (vs. lurking)!
And to all you other lurkers...come out of the shadows and give us your thoughts...we want to hear them...we don't bite...(unless you ask nicely)...ok, so some do bite, but you can handle it!
My question - to anyone who might have an idea - is once the word "Verizon" makes it to the hardware (the new black backplate), what's the lead time til it releases? Any input? Thanks in advance!
Long time lurker on this thread.. First time posting...
Thanks NKT and others who have made this a great forum/thread.
Here's my question for those in the know:
Since the QSD8650 is a dual mode chipset with CDMA2000 1xRev 0/A/B and GSM GPRS and EDGE, is the Incredible a World Phone?
I would lean towards no because I don't see a spot for the sim card, but that would be pretty kickass. Also, I don't remeber seeing anything in the FCC filing about it.
Real question is does the optical pad light up with selectable different colors or do we need to root the phone to get that option
I doubt the pad lights up it's not a trackball unless there's a LED in the center of the track pad, I think the only LED would be at the top Right of the phone.
I registered a couple of days ago when I saw this thread. It looked like it was the most active and up-to-date forum talking about this phone.
I am a BB Storm2 user and am waiting for this phone to drop. I was debating on the Incredible or the N1 and I think NKT has helped me make up my mind. The Incredible it is. I am bored and dissapointed with RIM and their outdated OS.
My only worry is the e-mail system. I am spoiled with the best push e-mail system. I use a Yahoo e-mail and remember hearing the problems the Eris had with Yahoo e-mails.

Did you exchange it for something? I got back my full 247 (bought Droid on a 1 year contract) back when I returned my droid and hence did not pay a restocking fee.
Woo-hoo! My NE2 has been up since July '09, and I have been stalking all kinds of forums since then, first for the Omnia II, then for the Passion, etc., etc.... I have been religiously following this forum since the beginning, and now I have decided to join in order to thank all of you, especially NKT, for giving me new hope and helping me not to feel as though I've been totally wasting my time waiting for something that was never going to come. Thanks to that picture I am doing the happy dance at my desk and giggling like Peter Griffin. That phone is FREAKIN' SWEET!!!
Hi all, new poster here. I've been lurking for quite some time, though. A couple of thoughts. Is is just me or does it seem ridiculous that the media outlets haven't picked up the bomb yet? I'm glad they replaced the flaming red back with something less....red. I'm still digging the red accents though. I'm wondering about the optical trackpad. I haven't used one and was wondering what the benefits of having it are if the touchscreen is super sensitive.
