Being that this is still a testers unit, it could be possible that the CPU is underclocked on purpose for testing. I believe that was said earlier in the thread when we heard it possibly has an 850mhz processor. But either way, if this thing is "blazingly fast" and can take some heavy multitasking with ease...i don't care what the final specs say.

I haven't used one and was wondering what the benefits of having it are if the touchscreen is super sensitive.
In their defense there isn't much to pick up on. NKT seems credible but its not as if similar types of post can be seen everywhere about every phone and turn out to be false. But if someone emails them to BGR or something I'm sure it will get mentioned.

Exactly. As long as you dont load it down with a bunch of apps the Eris runs fine at 528mhz. Though I'm sure it will launch with 1ghz just for the sake of bragging rights.

I'm absolutely dying here. Work blocks the tinyurl pics so I can't see any of them. Any chance someone could PM me the original pic and the follow up ones?

Edit: Got 'em. Thanks, Mykpfsu!!!

NKT, any outside chance you can set throttle the processor speed? Android may not permit this. I know the Omnia II actually allowed you to throttle processor speed between peformance and power saver with a few settings in between.

I got my Droid from Amazon and they dont mention anything about a restocking fee.

No, I don't think there's a throttle built into the OS. That can only be done once you have root access.

Could this be done via a 3rd party app? So you could set up different profiles based on the performance vs. battery life that you want/need? Just a thought....don't go making any money off my idea.

Well I just tore up my corporate discount for AT&T and am definitely not going to the dark side (iPhone). N1 with it's hardware issues is also getting pushed to the bottom of the list for this bad boy. I think I may start camping out tomorrow. I can work remotely

I'm pretty sure these settings are buried in restricted code that is only available after rooting.

NKT, would you happen to have any idea as to once the word "Verizon" makes it to the hardware (the new black backplate), what's the lead time til it releases?

If you are looking for someone to turn your idea into an actual app you should check out appubator.com | let's hatch a new mobile app They will give you a percentage (I think 30) of the revenue made after they actually develop the app. Heard about them the other day.

Beginning of the month.

I can comfortably say it's not going to launch until April at the very earliest.

So anything new? I didnt have time to read this whole thing so I stopped around page 80? Nothing new right?

Actually, I just came on here today and saw the last pages where people were thanking this NKT guy and my first thought was newsradio part 2, so then i went back and read all of his posts and found all the legit info he had.

So glad to hear the news, glad to see the pics, and hopefully this phone comes out closer to April than May.

It was an additional line to our account, so no exchange, just a straight up return. Now that you mention this, I just looked at my checking account and confirmed that I was refunded the full amount even better!

Thanks

No problem, just making sure you didn't get screwed. Hell my Droid even had a few dings on it and still no hassle from Verizon about it.

I was just thinking one nice thing about the contoured back is you should be able to case it without actually making it thicker. The back never needs a case, it is tough enough. It is always the corners you worry about. With the contoured back you could make a case that would cover the corners and sit flush with the phone back.

and by the way NKT FTW

Oh they understand, believe me they understand my friend. The secret is they want to know as well. But we give them the information so they dont have to look it up. So they get what they want AND get to mock us for the effort. They're sneaky that way.
That why the next time she mocks you, you use the line "Hey, you get your bitch ass back in the kitchen and make me some pie!"

That would be a nice case, could also help in special docks the might make for it. Also NKT any word on docks? car dock for gps home dock like droid? And thanks for all the info!

No info on docks. But with placement of the minUSB I wouldn't doubt they'll be offered.

That why the next time she mocks you, you use the line "Hey, you get your bitch ass back in the kitchen and make me some pie!"
Whenever I use that line, I get slapped. I usually still push for the pie though

That just means you can't say the line in a good enough Cartman voice.

Yeah I find that very interesting...and disconcerting actually. They usually pounce on that stuff within the hour.. Wonder why not this time...

BTW NKT ....To coin a Palin phrase...

"How's that timer workin out for ya... " LOL

Just kiddin ya pal!

I would of lost that bet too.

Anyways... I do have a question... did ya happen to notice if it had the GPS software in it? Ya know like the Driod did with the turn by turn?

Believe it or not my old Curve has gotten me out of a few jams over the last couple of years. I just hope it stays an option. That onboard GPS is good stuff!

Edit: Oops.. T I M E !! There is the Engadget link...hehhe

Dam nothing like getting shot in the face by your best friend. This is a shocker. Ive been on these forums for months and finally we have pretty much official news and pics. This phone has let me down so much. It looks like a gimmick the way its shaped and colored. Under clocked CPU, Sense, non flagship phone= late updates, no 720p. I just cant get over how bad this phone looks and come on the red. Really Verizon did you have to have red. Might as well put this phone next to the chocolate touch or the juke. Ugly. I know allot of you will disagree but I just had to say something cause ive been waiting for months for this phone.

Being that its android 2.1, Navigation should be on it. If only it would fit in the car holder I had gotten for the droid.

Go back and look at the pics again. It isn't red on the outside.

NKT, does it have a dedicated camera button? If I missed that, my bad.

I believe that is an issue of Android and if I remember correctly, all Android OS 2.0 and up will have the free turn by turn directions/gps. Correct me if I am wrong

EDIT: NM, Mykpfsu already answered that, sorry for the double post!

No. Only buttons on the outside are vol+/-, optical track and power/standby

I think any phone with Android 1.6+ has Google Nav, even the Motorola Devour has it.

NKT can you confirm if Google Nav is on there? I could see VZW stripping that because that is just what they do. Thanks
