About the 6, 7 or 8 internal GB rumor

Maybe we're all overlooking something.

If you call a phone The Incredible, maybe it's because it's going to be the world's 1st true iphone killer...also why Apple's trying to stop it. A true iphone killer would look an awful lot like the Incredible if it had that storage to throw a 1000's of songs on it like an iphone.

Is that crazy? Whaddayathink?

Has anyone reached out or investigated more about Stericson on twitter? I believe this is where the 6-8GB rumor stems from.

Stephen (Stericson) on Twitter

I'm curious what this means: http://pastebin.com/WaJEKi6U - supposedly from the incredible "dump". I'm especially interested in lines 55-58 which look like they may refer to the processor speed.

I realize his twitter has been referenced before. But I don't think anyone has contacted him, nor do I believe that the info from his "incredible dump" has been analyzed.

If you read my post, I was wondering if anyone had contact him and gotten more information.

Already referenced the dump and obviously by posting the twitter, I referenced if anyone has been in contact and/or can contact him. Dump link was posted and a few people have taken a look at it with acute estimations of what certain parts may mean. Now its YOUR turn to read.

Haha no surprise there. Someone screwed up at VZW (either that or the person who made this hoax realized he put up wrong info and is changing it to please the crowds).. Lucikily I don't think any of us really believed there'd be Sense on a GOOGLE EXPERIENCE phone. As for the online only purchases, that sounds about right.

I read those posts sir. To reiterate, I'm NOT posting those links as if I miraculously discovered them, but rather as a quick reference for those who don't want to travel back 6-10 pages to find the links. In addition, has anyone said that they have contacted him? I don't believe so. I apologize if I'm incorrect.

After some discussion of whether or not a screenshot such as the one shown could possibly be modified, the definition of RAM/ROM, and what appears to be a single post about the "dump" information, the discussion surrounding his twitter page fades away.

I should be more clear, I'm more interested in the rest of the code rather than the memory. Especially lines 55-58. Do these refer to the CPU clock speed, or the speed of the memory? Another member here mentioned they would be more interested in a procedure which would display the snapdragon's speed, and I'm curious if that information is not already displayed in the "dump".

Yeah.. or none of us have the knowledge to (referring to the code)

As regards to the ROM speculations, I think there were people asking for a real picture rather than a screenshot. Someone mentioned asking him for one but I don't know if they went through with it (I don't have Twitter so I am unable to at this time)

No problem. I was just letting you know that it has been posted since your original post was unclear and all you were asking was if anyone has contacted him, which I had posted in mine (I see that you have edited your original post to be more specific, which now will avoid any confusion).

does anybody know what kind of lawsuits apple has against htc and if it will have any affect on the incredible or upcoming android phones, i doubt it will on the incredible since it is so close to release.

Ya I saw. But "Coming soon" is pretty vague. If it said "Selling soon" or something to that effect, then I'm probably be more of a believer. It has already said "Coming soon" on the Nexus One website for quite some time now.

In reality, probably not. Unless there is something groundbreaking that will put insurmountable evidence forcing a judge to put an injunction, it probably won't affect the Incredible and/or any upcoming Android phone in the near future. Cases like this tend to drag on for quite a while (just look at the Nokia/Apple case.. its now being said they won't have a court date til next year at the earliest due to all the counter-suing), so it may be a few months/years before a final verdict is given.

NKT, are you still on here? If so, I was wondering if you knew which touch sensors were used on the Incredible. It is said that the multi-touch issues are due to hardware limitations on the Synaptics Clearpad 2000 capacitive touchscreen sensor used on most if not all HTC touchscreen devices. A newer Clearpad 3000 sensor does not have these limitations and allows for up to 10 point/finger recognition.

If your interested there is a great article here:

Yeah, I'm still not sold one way or another. It will be a tough call. I hate to be that guy, but...damn...I really really wish VZW was getting the desire.

Won't bring it up again.

I noticed lines 55-58 last night. Does appear to me to be the info about the CPU (min and max frequencies). Assuming that is a legit dump, it can run at 1GHz (or, well, 998.4MHz to be exact) and can clock down to 245MHz. I'm trying to figure out what exactly lines 59-68 mean, since they are also CPU related. Looks like it was running at 245MHz when he took the dump, but thats only an educated guess, and theres a bit more info there.

Montana, I know you were curious as to what the buzz is about Sense. I found this which essentially goes through alot of the basic elements of the UI (which may not have been covered in previous preview vids). Plus its on the Desire, so it'll pretty much be the exact UI we'll be getting on the Incredible. Only thing that sucks is that the phone is in German.. but I do believe he does a good job going through the in-and-outs of it even if it isn't in English

I believe I read that the Sense UI has native support for M$ Exchange. I don't remember where I saw it but there was either a screen shot or video showing Exchange as an option for email setting.

Personal preference. I like to form factor. The hard buttons. The look...just a sharp looking device with great specs.

No idea on the touch sensors...

I do have some info on the memory question. The 6GB number shown is what's displayed when an 8GB microSD card is placed into the phone.

The phone memory is displayed that way because the 512 flash and 512 rom is a shared pool. So together this is 1gb of memory available to be dynamically assigned for RAM/ROM. So if I understand correctly, the 320mb of ram listed is what's "reserved".

Apparently the N1 operates in the same manor.

As regards to the ROM speculations, I think there were people asking for a real picture rather than a screenshot. Someone mentioned asking him for one but I don't know if they went through with it (I don't have Twitter so I am unable to at this time)
I will ask Devdroidian if he does. Aaron seems to be in touch with that kind of stuff - or knows someone that is.

Default when is it coming?

I'm sure this has been covered but I don't feel like looking through a 100 pages of postings, but when do you guys think we will see the incredible being released? I am up for upgrade but holding out for a phone like this. My wife is up for upgrade April the 8th. We both want to jump on new phones sometime after that.

Flash memory and ROM are pretty much the same thing. I think you meant to say RAM instead of flash? I don't understand the second statement, though. RAM and ROM work in very different ways. RAM is fast read/write access and requires constant power to maintain its state. Take away the power, the information is lost. ROM physically contains electronically written information that is retained indefinitely until electronically erased. No power required (except obviously in a read or write operation). How can it be a "shared pool"?

I'm a little skeptical that Verizon would make all those different errors on their website. I'd think that when they put that information into the system they are taken directly from hardcopy or at least other internal documents which wouldn't screw up things like the Chip model number. Verizon documents would never even have a reason to write down QSD8250 because it's a gsm model chip that they would never use.

Now, I'm not saying that it's confirmed that Verizon will be selling the N1 in stores, but I don't think that's a very good source to confirm that it definitely won't be sold in stores.

Your question will be answered in 11 days. As of right now it hasn't even been officially announced so anyone guessing a release date right now is doing just that, making a guess, and there's really no certainty when it will be released.

why do you say it will be answered in 11 days? are you talking about the rumors of the nexus 1 being released on the 23rd?
