Can you imagine how many people's heads are going to explode when we go from having zero confirmed news, to literally dozens of reviews the minute the embargo ends?

I also contacted the people running the contest at their email below to see when the embargo will be lifted and we can vote on it. Sneaky eh? Let's see if they respond

Just a thought.. Has it been confirmed that they are in fact releasing it with the name 'Incredible'? Maybe VZW reps have seen an HTC device with a different name.

I think it will be released as the Incredible because of the leaked inventory screen shots. IIRC, it was list as the ADR6300 model and description HTCINC ...

Hello all, it's resident sleuth onlyever here with tons of JUICY confirmed information.
I visited my local Verizon store, and talked to one of my friends who works there. The conversation was as follows:
Me:"So, do you know of any new Android devices coming to Verizon?"
Rep:"Yeah, we're getting an HTC model, and the Google phone!"
Me: "So I know you're getting the Nexus One, and this HTC device---it's the HTC Incredible, with an 8 megapixel camera, Android 2.1 w/Sense."
Rep: "Yes, we know about the phone."
Me: "When can I expect to see it?"
Rep: "They don't ever tell us any release dates..."
Me: "Darn!"
Rep: "We're also getting an Apple device!" [This perked me up real quick!"]
Me: "You're getting an iPhone, iPad...?!?!!?!?!?"
Rep: "It's essentially a mini version of the iPhone, we've already started testing... it won't be called the iPhone though."
Me: "cool. So is it true that The End of life for the Eris is April 1?"
Rep: "I haven't heard that, but I know we're about to send out the 2.1 update to it..."
That was the substance of the conversation, as close to exact wording as possible.
I totally belive him, because he's a good guy, and I'm not the kinda person you lie to!
Thoughts???

My gut tells me they are going to announce the 720p recording capability when they make the official announcement. Can't wait for Tuesday even though I will not be able to spend a single minute online to check for any updates.
so just called my local verizon store, and asked for the htc incredible.
Guy knew exactly what i was talking about, said he didn't have them in stock, and didn't know when exactly the new devices (oh yeah, thats "devices," as in plural) would be arriving. he did say "a couple of weeks".
Hope this helps to tide ya'll over till CTIA

Eris was listed as the Desire in the same system. So it probably will change.

?
that goes exactly with what my source said a while ago, who also said "the incredible would be the much better choice" between the two

Just a reminder that the ADR6200 that was captured in the VZW inventory in September of '09 as the "Desire" became the "Droid Eris" upon official release.

Edit: s34n1811 and Nocturnal beat me to it!
So given that do you think the Eris was a special case because of the use of the Desire name by HTC's current device. I think HTC had more to do with the name change then VZW did. In any event we are very close to finding out something it just makes since.

Honestly, I wouldn't even know. I do know that the floodgates opened once we discovered "ADR6300" in the Inventory system. All of a sudden, our resident PI's were able to find pictures from HTC employees, BT certifications, schematics, etc. If "Incredible" does not in fact turn out to be its name, I wonder how much info we could have found - from overseas especially - if we had the actual name.
Just a thought. As we're trolling for info from our "sources". Let's make sure that they're not getting their info from us (AndroidForums.com). Like the supposed press release photo's. I think that we're creating enough waves that they might be reading our posts and repeating them to "us" as fact.
Main point make your source's source isn't your internet alias.

Thoughts: The mini iPhone was rumored for months. I am glad you mentioned it. I hate the big one, so why would I settle for a small one?
Interesting that they are already testing it and that he knew of the Incredible. Good work.
That stated, I don't trust Verizon CSR's. It not that I believe they are bad people, I just believe that they aren't well informed.

Yeah, he complained to me about how they told them about the Incredible but didn't give them any LEGIT information.... he even mentioned how they get release dates REALLY close to launch....
... From the way he talked about the "Apple device" I'm thinkin it's comin soon becaseu he emphasized that its already made the rounds.... quick, call up the FCC!
I trust this guy, but ONLY because he only tells if he's absolutely sure.... I'm sure he's heard more....
... and I hate Apple as much as they next guy... I was just REALLY surprised.

First off, I'm not saying what your guy said is untrue, because I do not know that for sure, but don't you think that if a device from apple was coming to VZW soon, we would have heard something about it? Not that it really matters because I wouldn't buy one even if it did. For me, like the rest of you, The Inc is my next phone for sure.

That's exactly what I thought, but if you look at the current tech news environment... it's easy to see where something could be overshadowed.... plus, there have been Verizon iPhone rumors since Apple first asked Verizon to be its carrier when the phone debuted.
So some VZW locations have the Incredible in house...I guess thats a good sign
Indeed. I'm almost inclined to believe that last VZW rep that talked with onlyever. With the embargo in place, that would seem to indicate that the device has been finalized and produced. It's not so far of stretch to say that it's in-house now.

I totally get that, and wasn't trying to troll, but I guess it came off that way. When I was phone shopping, the palm Pre was just coming out, and I was trying to narrow my choice down between the Palm Pre and iPhone 3Gs. Too many little issues with the Pre that kept me from getting it, although I like the look of the hardware. I guess I'm just not as anxious for the incredible as the rest of you because I won't be upgrading until summer '11, so it's all just academic to me now. Although I love the way Android phones are going, and should be another step up when I'm due for an upgrade! My friend is due in a few weeks though, and he is hammering throught this board HARD for info! I actually am really looking forward to him getting whatever he ends up with, it will give me a year of seeing how Android works and grows, should be good!
That is hard to believe. The reps high enough that work with devices not out yet or announced are not stupid. They would never show it off. They could get fired!
The only thing we can do is force this guy to join the forum. Hey, we're good at it...we have major experience.

This is not intended at malicious or rude (honest), but just curiosity. If you have a 3gs that you're happy with and not upgrading for over a year...what exactly brings you to an HTC Incredible forum and inspires you to create an account?
EDIT: I reread your post a little closer, nevermind.

do u think that means that when the next android update comes (2.2) or whatever it is, are we gonna be able to update just the stock android part?
You would think (and hope) so...but if you read the comments on that video, people say it's not that easy and would still require an HTC issued update. You're essentially making the desire/incredible LOOK like the nexus, but it still isn't...that was the understanding i gained from the comments section...someone more technologically efficient here probably knows better than i do...

No. the Eris has the option to turn off sense as well but everyone still had to wait for HTC to create a sense version of 2.1 because stock android wouldnt work.
Yes, the biggest downfall of getting a non vanilla android phone is waiting for the updates. Google tried to solve this with the nexus one, but it's not as good as HTC sense...yet
The HTC Incredible will be able to use the stock launcher (home screens), but for the updates -- as said before -- we'll have to wait. For example, the ERIS is still on Android 1.5 while 2.1 is out.
One of the things that bothers me about the alleged release date is that historically every new phone that is released has shown up a few weeks before hand on Ebay for crazy amounts of money, and so far no Ebay action.
So excited about this phone, yet overlooking the obvious... I'll need some extra cash to actually buy it when it is released. To the street corner I go.
