Ok, people. There's a lot of info and opinions flying around about release dates. Mid April, early May, June.....it's enough to make your head spin. What I'm wondering is, how many people really believe it will be released within 30 days from today? I'm so curious about it that I created a poll for it here. Cast your vote if you have the time.
I heard that HTC is going to invent a new month and name it Febtober. The incredible will be released in Febtober. My VZW source told me.

Would be good to know the source though. Wonder if VZW is having problems with 2.1. That could explain the delays on the N1 and the Incredible as well as the removal of the Droid 2.1 update. (of course, that's just speculation)
I totally get that there's really no incentive for Verizon to issue a release date because it would only hurt the Droid/Eris/Devour numbers. I also believe there a number of people WAITING for the incredible that are using feature phones on a $15 data plan or no data plan at all.
My question is how much revenue is being lost on these people who ARE waiting for a device rather than just jumping on the Droid/Eris now. Probably not even a drop in the Verizon revenue bucket... I know that if they had come out 2 months ago and said it would be available in June I would have just gone and gotten the Droid.
Then again I'm SUPER impatient and the single month I've been looking into this phone has seemed like an eternity. I'd love to get the Droid to hold me over for a month but I don't know if that option is even available to me. I'm looking to upgrade with my Annual upgrade on a 2 year contract forfeiting the NE2 all together. Anyone know if I could still give the Droid a 30 day tryout?

I had to hear a diatribe from my friend about how his Droid was already supposed to have been updated. I don't think I'll ever be able to forget when quarter 2 starts.

It would have to involve to amount of kickback motorola gives Verizon (they manufacturers do give kickbacks right?) and whether its greater then HTC. I would have to image that unless its like you say and Moto and Verizon have a different then normal agreement it shouldn't matter.
The sad thing is that even if it was announced tomorrow and released next week there would still be a lot of people who would buy the Droid simply because it's the one they saw on TV.

Does it honestly make a difference? If its in April, you'll get it in April and his or her source will not matter. If its it may, you'll get it in may (you know you will) and her or his source will not matter.

That's the situation I'm in right now. I figure if they are forcing me to pay for a data plan on a dumbphone I might as well pay the extra money a month for a phone where I will actually use data. I'm due for an upgrade on 4/10 and the battery on my Chocolate 3 is on the fritz. I might have to settle for a Droid if they don't release the Incredible around that date but fortunately it looks like that won't be that case. I can hold out for an few extra weeks if it means getting a superior device.

people have been calling VZW and getting an April release date and you guys are just gonna say May because "i feel like its may" with no info to back it up?
It does matter, with no info or credibility why would anyone believe it's may.....when everyone else is saying April and VZW reps are saying april. This is a thread on finding out info about release dates, whats the purpose of finding out this info if we just wait until it's released to find out when it comes out.........

If it's not dropping in the next week, I'm actually pulling for a May release. If you do a little checking on the EVO subforum, you'll see that a past reliable source is indicating that Sprint is shooting for first week of June. On one hand, I think it's an absolute failure for Verizon to push the Incredible off until May, but on the other hand it makes it easy to wait just a few more weeks to evaluate the two before making my decision. Right now, I find the EVO much more enticing on a 12 month contract than settling for the Incredible after such a long wait. That would permit me to return to Verizon next summer when they expect to have LTE phones. But maybe the official Incredible spec sheet will keep me from defecting. I'm still curious about the secret bonus feature that someone (was it NKT?) mentioned awhile back.
On the upside, gotta give Verizon props for saving me $24/month since last August with all the foot dragging they've been doing. From a net subscriber earnings standpoint, real dumb move on their part.

I would have LOVED to see it announced at CTIA but the Incredible WOULD have been overlooked after the Evo was released. For me PERSONALLY, the Incredible is a more desirable phone for the smaller form and increased app space (as well as a few other small things). But I think the overall consensus from everything I've seen from the "Media", the Evo is "Beast". I think a lot of sites believe that the Evo is the new standard in Android phones.
The Incredible would have been covered slightly and then quickly passed over to talk about the Evo. Where as if they announce it in a week or 2 it will get more coverage from the Media. The comparisons are inevitable, and the Evo will still probably top most of the lists, but at least it'll get it's own feature.

What are you looking for in 6.1, as a current WM6.5 user I think most of the apps for Windows Mobile are available on the Android Market ... Or at least some variant of the same program.
Then again I'll probably get an Android phone and realize it's missing something I LOVED in WinMo

Hey guys, just wanted to drop a line and say that I'm breaking down and most likely getting a droid this weekend. My storm 1 has broken my last nerve to the point where I don't care about an ETF because I signed my contract before the ETF got jacked up to $350.
Also, I'm wanting to take advantage of the BOGO while it's still out there since my fiance will be getting a DROID as well.
Since I'll prolly be doing it this Sunday, 4/28, that should give me plenty of time to get the Incredible if it does indeed come out in April. If it doesn't however, I guess I'll be rooting, OC'ing, and installing an amazing custom ROM because I'm sure it will be this fall before 2.1 is officially released for this phone lol.
I still plan on following this thread when I'm bored at work, but I have really enjoyed all this so far, minus the outbreaks of insanity that seems to happen every 20 pages haha.

But I read an article today that led me to infer that the HTC Incredible either a) doesn't exist, or b) is not coming out any time soon (for me, b is almost as bad as a).
It features a discussion with Peter Chou, CEO of HTC, who states that HTC hopes to establish themselves as the "top Android brand." Now that sounds great, but what came next got me disappointed:

1. Are we still under the assumption that N1 will be released the same day as the Incredible?
2. Has anyone heard if the N1 is gonna be available to family plan subscribers?
I'm pretty sure that neither of these two really have any good reliable answers. I don't think I missed anything on this forum, but Just wanted to make sure. If they do release the N1 early, without an announcement of the Incredible. I might just get one, and try it out for 30 days while I wait for the Incredible to be announced/released. If I have to pay a $35 restock fee, i'll just chalk it up to a phone rental.

You're right, it would have been overlooked, seeing that it's seemingly not being released much sooner than the EVO. However, an announcement with "available now" would have kept the attention compared with the EVO which likely hasn't been in development nearly as long as the Incredible.
The rigorous, drawn out testing program that Verizon goes through is really starting to bite them in the ass now as competitors get stuff to market much faster with better features. I've said it before. The rapid increasing pace of technology advancement has obsoleted Verizon's slow and steady approach to device release. Unfortunately, they're not going to change which is all too apparent by the way they're rushing LTE deployment. This will enable them to boast the nations best and largest 4G network while they push the same dated hardware out the door too little, too late. I guarantee you by late this year, early next, AT&T and T-Mobile will be pushing HSPA+ (21Mbps capable) phones out the door on their 3G network. They may not have LTE, but they have the better scalable 3G network technology that will rival early implementations of LTE.

I've been paying attention to that VZWOffers Twitter account. It seems that they are responding to a lot of people about the Incredible, teasing us saying real soon. I would imagine that most of the tweets to them are from people here.
In any case, I've been through a few of these waiting games for phones with VZW. From the horrid T720, to the Chocolate to the Dare, I've waited and waited with anticipation and taken the plunge right away. And the same thing happens every time. Some information is released, and anticipation builds. Release dates are thrown around. Those dates pass, and people start talking about how VZW is making a big mistake taking so long to release the phone and how they are going to another carrier. Cooler heads eventually prevail, and then finally, it is released, and then we start talking about everything that is wrong with it.
From Verizon's standpoint, all they need to do is get it out before June, and they can claim to have the bestest and baddest phone in the US on the best network, which is not something that Verizon can often do (except for the best network part). All in all, these are good times to be on Verizon.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Everything with Verizon is a secret! Their business model is to sustain sales until the last minute which is why sometimes phones just show up on their website or stores with hardly a mention. When you have the nation's largest 3G network and 90+ million customers, maximizing sales and revenue from the existing customer base is more important than adding subs. Sprint's advanced EVO announcement, on the contrary, is about curbing potential losses and luring new customers. Big fish vs small fish strategy.

They are. They are just moving ahead with enhanced 3G first.
And that is where VZW shines! They have such a big 3G network that they don't need to improve it -- they can go right on to working on their new LTE 4G network. 1/3 of the country will be covered with VZW 4G by the end of the year.

Do you know of any maps or lists of those areas that will be covered and when? I would love to live in one of the lucky cities but don't know where their coverage will be.

Originally they were planning on starting deployment in 2011 (vs Verizon deploying now) but there have been rumblings about just upgrading the network to HSPA+ which is a simpler upgrade to the HSPA network. If that's the case, they may take their time with LTE. Understand that EVDO revisions give marginal speed increases which means CDMA carriers like Verizon and Sprint need to push forward with 4G sooner to push the envelope. HSPA has much more head room for data rates.

Yes the Incredible would be the best phone in June, if none of the other carriers introduced something new. Unlike Verizon, they seem to introduce new phones without an agonizing wait. I wouldn't just assume that the we won't see something from the other carriers before we see Verizon put out the Incredible.

VZWOffers is absolutely worthless. Back in August, people were pinging them about the Omnia II when that was the next hottest phone coming to Verizon.
