I can see it now.... Verizon rolls out the Incredible on April 1st and everybody on here calls bullshit in anticipation of the expected shenanigans and we all miss out.

we need to get everyone to take the poll on the above site and choose this:

I hate the iPhone, will never buy it from anyone, and just want to hate-vote on this poll.

We need to lay off all these posts that are absolutely not related to the HTC Incredible before we get scolded again by Mods or worse.

Ok, so since I am in a huge high tech company, here in Silicon Valley, I decided to hunker down and start a research project, based on the information I have gathered here. I have some budies that are freakin wizards at writing code and I recruited them to help.

Basicaly, what I did was start with the naming conventions for the various code names and actual product names of the phones, such as "Incredible, Desire, Passion, etc..", then plugged in some key features, like 720p video, dual camera, 4g, haotic feedback.." and crunched it all through the program.

You won't believe what came out....

So here is the name of the next phone we can expect and a list of the next killer features:

Name: Insertable
Features: adjustable speed haptic feedback and vibrate ringers
Features: water resistant
No other features detected calculated by program

So, as I learn more from my research, I will post updates, but that is all I have discovered so far.

I don't have a release date yet, but the program should spit something out soon.

-Norril

I think we're fine... the disclaimer on the first page warns people that this thing may not always be "on-topic" and unless we let ourselves degenerate into "The Second Incredible War," I believe we'll be ok, bud!

Yup. You guys do realize there is a VERIZON section don't you? This thread isn't meant to be a verizon updater.

Maybe so, but since Verizon is also the carrier of the Incredible, I believe it's relevant. Let's face it - the iPhone is the top competitor to ALL other smartphones out there and it's healthy to be informed as to what your primary adversary competitor is doing. Just ask Bill Belichick about the virtues of spying on the competition!

I have thought of 2 possible scenarios that have not been discussed at length as of yet:

1. It is entirely possible the phone was not due out to be released until May, but VZW is scrambling to move up the date because of competition and hype. This would explain the lack of an announcement and overall lack of knowledge by employees. Announcements would come at the last minute when they were sure the phone was absolutely ready to be launched, and launch would follow very closely afterward.

2. The phone was due out in March, but was delayed by issues. According to a PhoneArena article I read a couple weeks ago, the Nexus One was supposedly delayed because of the multitouch issues and that means the Incredible could have been too because they use the same screen (yes I know NKT reported he did not see the issue, but I dont believe this can be ruled out). Another issue that was rumored was that Skype Mobile and Android 2.1 were having compatibility issues. This sort of problem would explain the lack of an announcement for both the Nexus One and the Incredible, and it also explains why the Droid 2.1 updates keep being shoved back.

Just food for thought. I am hoping it comes out in the next 2 weeks, so I can have it before I go on vacation.

You need to remember that Return/Exchange rate affects them DRASTICALLY.. It's much more profitable for them in the long run to make sure you get the device you really want and need

Expect a ton of Droid exchanges when the Incredible is released.

I thought this was a terrible marketing plan all along, but maybe your right. Verizon could have dropped the ball on getting newer phones because they felt the Droid would suffice for longer or that customers will continue to not complain because of their network and now their just playing catchup. It would explain everything except for the N1 which appears to be ready to start shipping within 2 weeks for sure. Either way its not a good thing for us

well what i see in there is that the device IS capable of 720p encoding... other than that i don't know much.

i did do a search on this pastebin site for 'HTC incredible' and i found a number of posts from our friend STERICSON from weeks ago...

if i find anything.. i'll post.

apologies if this is already common knowledge..

One thing that I noticed is the build ERE27 is an old build. The new update for the Droid is ERE81 I believe.

if i find anything.. i'll post.

apologies if this is already common knowledge..

one post with his name on it has processor and memory dump info in it that i can't really make heads or tails of, other than seeming confirmation that the idle processor speed is around 245 Mhz and throttled up it's 998 Mhz:

cat /proc/meminfo MemTotal: - Stericson/ HTC Incredible - WaJEKi6U - Pastebin.com

there's also some info in there about memory... and only one mention of a memory size that approaches 5 gb. mainly 512 mb with 133 free and numbers around there. if anyone else knows more please elucidate.

thanks

Yep! You found Stericson's device dump for the test device he had on hand, and the source of a lot of the confirmed specs. I actually reached out to him to see what was in the pastebin link I posted above, and he simply confirmed that it is the Incredible, and in fact another device dump.

Since this is an actual build taken from a device, I didn't know if this was anyhow related to the leaked Incredible ROM that was discovered several days ago or whether it would provide any further information for someone that knew what they were looking at. I just see words and numbers...aside from "ere27" which looks to be the multitouch update for 2.1

Here is hope for another day where we here some credible news on the Incredible. Maybe if we are lucky we will be able to read another 100 replies in one day about how I went to verizon wireless and talked to a sales rep post.80p

yeah i saw something about the 2.1 _update 1 in there i think...

in addition, a lot of the posts that are presented on the site when searching stericson have either expired or been deleted. guess it makes sense when sharing code and the stuff can become obsolete pretty quick.

thanks for the info... it's nice seeing all these specs with the carrier name verizon in the same build file. maybe one day....

The admiin isn't the one who got that info though, they were just reporting that they read it on the Vzw website. Not saying it isn't legit, just trying to make sure you're aware

I went into an actual corporate store (not an authorized retailer) with my fiance so that we could get a pair of droids by taking advantage of the BOGO that's going on. She is the primary on the account because she gets a discount, and she was able to upgrade because her contract was at the 1 year mark and did the early upgrade route.

Me, on the other hand, feel like I was screwed royally unless there is something completely missing that I failed to read. I'm not really up for an upgrade at this time, I know it, but I am willing to pay an ETF to get out of my contract. The lady told me, but I cannot find evidence of what she says anywhere, that if I terminate my contract that I will lose my phone number........how is this even possible. Nowhere on the site under the customer agreement does it state anything about your actual phone number being attached directly to the contract, because if that were the case wouldn't you have to get a new number every time you upgraded to a new phone?

Normally, I would just say screw it and pay the ETF, but there is another situation behind the story and I have an upgrade attached to my phone number / account that isn't mine to use.

I hope I've explained this well enough for one of you VZW guys to help me out. I would post this in the verizon forums, but I have a hard time believing that I will get any true answers there and you guys are all techies like me so I figured my best route was here.....sorry for being off topic mods and admins. If you want to reply to this by sending me a pm instead of in this thread that's understandable, I forget which of you work in VZW stores.
It's just how it is- there's no way to end your contract without terminating your line of service- not that I know of anyway.. But yes, theyre completely correct about losing your number..

I've brought it up before... Has anyone considered whether or not the Incredible can be made to dual boot to Android & Windows Mobile? Why would anyone want to? you ask... to see if it can be done.

Slightly off topic... I think I found what I'll replace my krzr with until the Incredible is in my hands. Celsius X VI II LEDIX, the $300k tourbillon dumbphone, gets handled -- Engadget

I'm feeling right at home seeing Flaring Afro and Steven58's avatars. I'm so sick of this Touch that I would have ran for the Droid if it wasn't for the Passion rumors and the nice folks at xdadevs making the android roms.

I hope we only have a few weeks left to wait for the Incredible!
