One of the things I find humor in is that verizons big move at ctia was skype but its another networks EVO that has a front facing camera
Wasn't the big thing about how fast they were going to bring out 4G? I thought they talked about that there too.
Also, it''s possible the Incredible will too. This could be bad though. I can easily see some people driving with their phone in their hand on the steering wheel trying to have a video call. Some people are stupid.

We never intended to launch Skype now with the purpose of video chat.
Now, when we start getting our 4G handsets next year, that might be something to look for

The saygus vphone might be taking advantage of skype. it has a front facing cam. or maybe verizon's putting a front facing cam and that's why it's taking so long
Ya you can tether. There's an app at least for the moto droid which using the same OS. I wouldn't tether all the time though. maybe for desperate times.

I have the mobile hotspot by verizon. Whats unlimited is when you go to a place with wifi (starbucks, panera, etc) or from somesones open network, that wifi is unlimited. But when you want to connect to the internet without mifi (connected with WWAN, dont know what that is but it connects me to the internet automatically) its a 5mb limit. you have to pay extra if you go over 5mb

This I'm not 100% sure on, but I don't believe there is a front-facing camera on the Incredible.
If there is, sorry, I used to remember cool stuff like this til I started working on phones 8+ hours a day and I have to remember what goofy features other phones have so that people will buy them lol

Thank you viperboy for clearing that up. No tethering here, just wanted to make sure on the phone itself it was unlimited. Even though I doubt I will go anywhere near that.

I gotta deal with this stuff all day... People threatening to beat me up cause I can't just give them a free phone when they dropped theirs in the toilet, people getting ticked off about the smallest stuff when I am trying to help them, the "I'M GOING TO AT&T!!" crap all day (Those aren't magic words, by the way).
Alot of people on here are complaing and begging for the phone to launch. There is also alot of BS info out there. It's just annoying. A little bit of knowledge is dangerous and go forbid anyone say one rumor around this place about this phone and everyone starts to believe it.
I just wanted to correct some things and clear them up.
No problem. Just had alot of stuff to say.
WOW! Now that I read that, I see why would be fed up. That stuff really happens? Jeez! I know what it's like to have people up your ass all day -- I am a public school teacher. Last week they published my name and salary in the local newspaper.

I have been following this thread since before it was called the "incredible." I watched the rise of Nash and the fall of news radio. I checked the thread with every twist and turn. I contributed a photoshop comparison on the nexus and incredible... So much passion, so much folly, so much time with silence from verizon.
Over the weekend I hit my wall. No more waiting. This is how it went down:
I I walk into best buy. They have tons of ipads. I ask about the return policy. They say 14 days. I buy it just to check it out. I think... I wonder if I can get some info out of verizon since it is right next to best buy. I walk in with my iPad in hand. I talk to the dude that runs the shop, he knows nothing about the incredible or nexus one release dates. He is a cool guy, he would tell me if he knew something.
I walk over to the palm section before leaving since they have the free wifi hotspots for the life of the phone special going on. The sales woman convinces me to try it out. She says she will pay my restocking fee herself if I don't like the phone. She puts it in writing. I get 30 days to tryout the pre with free wifi hotspots for my new iPad. What a sweet deal. Now my iPad had 3G and gps via the phone... For free.
So here I am, at what could be the final goodbye to this fine group... If there is no incredible in 28 days... I am sticking with the palm pre and free hotspots for my iPad. The setup works amazingly. If there is no incredible by the end of april,it is time to get something else. By the beginning of 2011 there will be more phones that will destroy the incredible than you can count on two hands. Buying now and getting free wifi is a great deal until the really great phones with front facing cameras, and dual core CPUs are the norm. The longer it takes to release the incredible the less desirable it becomes.
I still hope for an April release but if it does not come I have a solid phone and a quicker upgrade path with a 40$ savings every month.
By the way, the pre plus has a brilliant os, but the hardware is just ok. The os, is truly fantastic though... Makes it a fun phone to have.
Oh well, good luck all. Hope we have something good in a few weeks!
There shouldn't be a restocking fee on the phone at Best Buy anyway.

I hear ya viper. People are freakin crazzzzzyyyy! I've been a waitress for 7 years now and you wouldnt believe how some people are. If anyones seen that b**ch lady in "Waiting" yeah....they exist!
On topic- I hope the new info is correct and we finally get this phone this month. If not, off I go to Sprint
You have unlimited usage from your phone. If you wanna browse from your phone all day and all night, go ahead. But that's all it is for. If you are using it for tethering 1.) you shouldn't be, that's why you pay extra for tethering and 2.) yes, we can tell if you are tethering (hell, I can look at your account and tell).
Now, if you are constantly going over 5gb from legitimate usage, I don't know what they would do, I would doubt they would do anything but if they would, they're likely to just use PFO on you (Packet Flow Optimization) and just slow you down. Again, I doubt they would even do that.
And EXACTLY how can they tell if you are tethering? Please be technical. I'm in the industry and I don't know of a way that Verizon could tell. Data flowing through the phone to a tethered PC looks pretty much like data consumed by the phone. Hard to imagine what would be a reliable tipoff. You can make random guesses, based on things like usage, or maybe content (flash), but for web pages, images, video, most apps... no difference.
3/29/10 is only last week...it could have been put into the system on that date and found today...no need to jump to conclusions and say its fake...what do you have to base that assumption off of...a date thats only a week old?? do you work for best buy??...you have a weak argument
Yes, no reason to say it's fake. That definitely looks legit. It's the inventory system screen. The date is usually the date it is entered into the system as some people have said.
I was reading from where I left off and responded to things as I went along. I felt some things needed to be addressed.

Possibly via the HTTP User-Agent header sent by the browser.. which is easily manipulated.
I used to work at best buy for 3+years. Looks like a pretty legit shot of their inventory screen. "RSS" I believe it was called. Who knows since then I worked for Circuit City as well so I mix the two sometimes.
I will second that BBY = Best BuY
and yes they use it for almost everything
Yes its called RSS at Best Buy, at Circuit City it was screen 14 for inventory in the DPS system.
Yes they also use BBY for everything, it's also their stock ticker symbol.

I get what ViperBoy is saying, that we shouldn't know about this phone. But the fact is: we do. The first video we ever saw of this thing had a huge honking Verizon intro movie on it, and that was months ago. HTC's ROMs are coded with identifying numbers. Why wouldn't Verizon take measures into preventing leaks like that unless they really thought they could build some buzz around the phone? Why hand the phone to people who would show it off with no punishment? Every company — not just Verizon — has to have something in place to do damage control on information leaks. And a way to do triage when a planned leaked backfires.
I just find it annoying that someone on Verizon's marketing team tweets about a phone by name and can't say anything about a release date. A month. A season. Hell, I'd settle for H1 of 2010 at this point. I just don't understand how releasing that sort of information (even if/when it changes) hurts anyone's interest in the phone, even if they are more interested in selling Devours or Droids. This forum is proof the demand is high for a next-gen Android phone with HTC Sense.
There's just a lot of attitude I get from Verizon employees. "We release new phones all the time," some manager said to me, all pissy-like. Fine, I get it, dealing with ticked off customers sucks, and everyone and their grandma has something they printed off something from PhoneScoop. That doesn't mean you get to treat customers like garbage.

Yes, I understand that and I did know that going in. What I am annoyed with is that it's at the newspaper's discretion whether or not they print it. The paper where my first school was located never published it outright. The local paper where I work now does. AND I have never seen a specific newspaper article published that listed the salary of every DOT worker or state government official. I can deal with public record, not putting it out there to piss people off!
OH YEAH and I totally agree with Misterdoop on the last page!
One person told me there wasn't ANY new phones coming out until June and then I also got we release new phones all the time in the same breathe. Probably in the same tone of voice as Mister Doop heard it!

Can't really go into it (not saying this because I have no idea), but to say a little, the mobile/app version of Youtube will look different in the system than lets say streaming youtube through your phone from your computer.

I wouldn't be in retail if I couldn't handle people. It's all about how you are when you come into the store. If someone comes in screaming and yelling right off the bat and telling me what I'm going to do, you bet that won't fly. I am not the type to throw whatever you want at you to make you go away. But if you come in and realize that I am trying to help you when your battery is shot and out of warranty, sure I will give you 25% off your battery.
I don't enjoy when people just run their mouth in a thread that has nothing to do with the topic or people who continuously spread misinformation. That is one thing I don't have patience for. Oh, and you don't have to read my posts either if it bothers you so much.

Appreciated And honestly, I'm not entirely sure about it, but when a phone is going to be released, they roll the phones out to teams like QA (Quality Assurance) and the Data Team for them to test it and see what bugs they can find and things like that.
However, with the Nexus, I would doubt that anyone would test it internally since Google is selling it through them. Maybe a few, but not like when we normally launch a phone.

I'll bet the delay on the Incredible is so that they can have all the red accent colors changed to..... PINK! They want it to color coordinate with the new Microsoft line. Yup, that's it!

First off
1. Sorry no additional spec detail.
2. He received his info from his insider at his regional distro. and not forums (important). He even accidentally mentioned his name. Don't ask, sorry.
3. Once again like last time it started out with several employee's and then ended up just He and I. He could tell me because he hadn't gotten his info from official Verizon channels but through contacts he's close with. See Flame suit on item 4.
Flame Suit on:
1.He reconfirmed his original quote to me of 70,000 units on order but added that it was regional.
2.He said that it was in what he called "Friendly testing" which is the last step before release.
3.There is no question that it exists!!!
4.Any and all details (he specifically mentioned the Cellebrite & insider pages) is intentionally leaked by Verizon. Not intentionally announced but put conveniently where it can leak out to those who are looking (us).
5.He mentioned that it could even release this week because the BOGO went off last week and was scheduled for another one in two weeks. But . . . not to hold my breath. But that the release was imminent.
* * * He's not been wrong so far with me. You can go back and read all my posts but everything he's told me has been spot on. * * *

Cool, and I'm assuming someone like you doesn't receive word of the phone until it's officially announced?
Btw: I noticed that you started a "Verizon tech here: ask away" thread. If you're the same poster that started a similar thread on droidforums.net you realize that you're gonna get swamped again right?
1) You all got a request to stay on topic by anonimac...(thank God I stay on topic)
2) We're getting our phone this month as it's in final testing.
3) We're getting an iPhone-type phone this summer
4) Viper was able to confirm some specs from his internal screen sources at Vz.

Viper had a bad day. (thanks for your help)
Haha, not a bad day but all tend to be irritating to some degree. As you can imagine, no one comes into the store to say "Hey, the phone and coverage is great, thanks!!" haha lots of problems, but hey, that's the job. Doesn't mean I can't get irritated and be an e-thug on da forums, yo

Well, sorta correct. I'm lower than whale sh1t on the Verizon ladder haha but I am good friends with some QA people and others that work with devices and test them so I get some information that others wouldn't. Plus as I said earlier, if you dig a little through VzW's internal stuff, you can find some pretty cool things
And yes, that was me haha I just couldn't keep up with that anymore and hence, am not a mod anymore. But that's understandable.
I think I will head into the live chat for a little if anyone wants to ask questions there and not clutter the thread.

Not necessarily true. Traditional YouTube uses Flash on the PC vs H.264 on the phone. But you can also load H.264 on the PC. HTML5 is now available which uses H.264 on the PC. So it does not necessarily indicate tethering. As I said, its at best a guess.
So it sounds like you're saying Flash implies tethering. That won't be true either as the phones begin to support Flash.

i have been reading the forums for the last 3 weeks on a daily basis and im sure like everyone here i am very anxious to get my hands on this phone. i read earlier that someone had a friend that was a best buy mobile manager and that she had found in the system a new phone for verizon arriving at the end of the month. i did some digging and found that indeed a new phone will be available at best buy on the 29 for verizon. i also found that the in stock date is going to be on the 25. In the inventory system the phone does not have a model or description but i dont know of any other new phone that is suppose to launch this month. This coincides with a lot of information from sources that have posted a date in the end of april. Now this could very well not be a solid release date since release dates can be pushed back but typically what has happened in the past with verizon and best buy launching phones is that verizon usually gets them a week before best buy mobile is able to sell them. i know this still doesnt give a concrete release date but at least we know best buy mobile will hopefully carry the phone at the end of the month. here is a snapshot
Yes that's the same screen I saw. It was the only phone for release this month, for Android, in that price range. I figured if BBM gets it by the end of the month Verizon will get it no later. I can't freaking wait.
