Congrats to those coming off of probation!

And I'm super excited to be close to finally have this phone in my hands, hopefully attached to a "Happy 21st Birthday Darling Daughter of Ours" Card

Let's keep the optimism of this forum going!!
Yeah, I'm getting it from my DH as a belated b'day present. Of course if the supposed March 25th release date had been kept/correct, it wouldn't have been late...

Oh well, it'll be worth the wait in the end.

Not sure how long it should take. If you don't want to wait any longer, you can always resort to ebay. Someone posted earlier that they're going for $0.99. That's what I had to do for my first gmail account "back in the day".

This was PM'd to me earlier by the poster who said he found the information. I had asked him if he still had it b/c I wanted to know how to do that as well.

Hack: use Google Voice to add visual voicemail to your G1, Dream, or Magic -- Engadget Mobile

But just to add, now it's possible to switch your VZW voicemail to Google Voice directly through the Google Voice interface. Just go to settings>phones (assuming that you've already added your VZW phone number) click the "Activate Google Voicemail On This Phone" link next to the number. Then follow the instructions.

But then again if I can't stay away from AF after the Inc's release, I'm sure jealousy will get the best of me.

Oh, not sure if this is true or not but while I was talking to the rep at Verizon tonight I asked him how long it takes for them to start getting accessories ( i.e docks, screen protectors etc.) in when they get a new phone- He said they usually have them right away. so hopefully we will be able to get our car docks, screen protectors, and cases right when the phone comes out. So you ladies are pretty close to convincing me to return my Eris tomorrow, but I have a question...

Does anyone think they'll catch that I've installed 2.1 on it? My guess is no, because in the past when I've returned a handset I've already deactivated it by using the online ESN changer to switch to my new (old?) phone, and I've had reps not even bother to power the phone up. Just don't wanna get busted, refused a return, AND have my warranty voided!

Montana Man: You've taken a lot of grief from us. You are a great guy. You're the type of guy who I know people go to when they need a real friend. (Boston Sucks.)

There should be a way to return it back to the previous OS. I would try to put it back if you can, would just be simpler- have never had to return a handset to VZW before so dont know if they would check or not.

How was 2.1 on it? Thinking about doing that for my wife's Eris. It looks like the official update may never come. Any speed improvements?

It's got to be a lot higher than that. How about all the women who read this thank me for this post? I'm not trying to get a high "thanks" count, it's just the quickest way I can think of to get a better number. It certainly can't be more OT than what's for dinner, and it'd give us a better idea of this thread's demographic.

Default HTC Sync on a Mac?

According to the HTC Sync download site, Sync will work on the following OS's

Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2
Windows XP Professional Edition Service Pack 2
Windows XP Media Center Edition Service Pack 2
Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition
Microsoft Windows Vista Enterprise Edition
Microsoft Windows Vista Business Edition
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic Edition

So it looks like if you have a Mac, it won't work - hopefully it will work with Parallels (or similar).

Hmmm, if you just make sure that the home screen looks remotely like the original ROM, I doubt they'll go any further even if they do power it on. I'd highly doubt they'd think to check software version and even so, they'd have to realize that it shouldn't be 2.1. With all the stuff about the Droid getting it, it would likely slip by.

Of course, if the worst happens and they did notice, you could always play dumb..."WHHHAAATTT??? Are you serious??? You're telling me that somehow there was an unofficial, unreleased, buggy update that downloaded itself on my phone?!?! No WONDER it was acting up! How in the world could that have happened? Now I DEFINITELY want to return it!"

But I highly doubt they will.

I know this GV thing is getting old, but I also know people still need invites. If anyone on here is in the military use this link to get a free invite. I can vouch that it works well. I know that I saw at least on Air Force person in here.

Unfortunately, there isn't. The tutorial says something to the effect of "you don't like 2.1, tough $%&#, you're stuck now."

It's a bit speedier. I've had 2 issues today - one, the dialer (which I never liked anyway) has gotten sluggish and even unresponsive a few times, and the browser completely crapped. It was just stuck on a site - no back, no stop, no refresh, no clicking a link - just had to reboot the phone. So the glitches are a minor (so far!) trade-off for the improvements. And it's so easy to do - I thought I had to have missed a step or something because it was so simple!

LOL! I like your thinking! The home screen looks pretty much the same; some of the icons are slightly different. Guess those are the ones I'll remove, huh?

I'll 2nd that. DH is military so I have a .mil email by being a mil spouse. I submitted GV requests from my .mil account and my Gmail and had the invite in my .mil the next day; got it in my Gmail a week or so later. BTW, I still have the 2nd invite - not sure if it would work since it's the original invite (not one of the 3 you get once you're already signed up), but if anyone wants to try it, let me know.

Well, THAT horse has left the barn! Fortunately I have lots of toys to play with that will work nicely with my new Incredible, which I hope comes sooner than later.

Now It's almost a certainty that one of these phones will be one of the MS "Pink" phones because the "It's Time to Share" tag line in the e-mail....

But what if
"It's Time to Share"
"Lets Get Social" and
"It's New, It's Unique, Living exclusively on Americas largest and most reliable 3G network"
Are 3 separate tag lines for 3 separate phones (Pink, Turtle and Fill in the blank)

Man, I might need to get a new job.....it's taking up too much of my Incredible Thread time.

Since I haven't said it, Happy B-Day MM, and it's nice to see MM and Kappy out in the general public.

We like it fine. It is not a GREAT Italian restaurant, but it is good quality. I like the penne rustica, shrimp portofino, Chicken scalopine, Mamma's trio. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. I live to serve.

And to keep the OT police away, I'm now vaccillating on getting the Incredible or keeping my Eris. I installed the 2.1 leak last night, and now that I'm reading about class 6 microSD cards possibly helping the phone's responsiveness, I may just hold onto the Eris until LTE launches. But then again if I can't stay away from AF after the Inc's release, I'm sure jealousy will get the best of me.
I know us girls are the minority, which is why I started us our own little group. See my signature or look for "Android Gals" in the Social Groups area.

If you can get it without having to pay full retail, I think you should go with the Incredible!

I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that we'll have some kind of Incredible Support/Tips and Tricks forum to get the most out of our new great phones.

I saw someone else recommended YouMail. That's what I would suggest too, I used it until I got my GVoice invite.

I hope...I don't speak ever, well 2 times actually, but I have gained quite a bit of knowledge just listening to this so called off topic rambling. I know when I pick mine up I def will have one or two things I need answered and why not do it with people you like.

On a side note I was telling my friend who doesn't have a 3gs that shes going to have to get a new iphone to take advantage of the new OS...I might just have her converting not only to an Android OS phone, but Verizon. GO CARDS!

I haven't had a smartphone yet, (I have an ipod touch, and I've seen/read what the Android OS can do) but I'm ready to learn as much as I can about Android. I'm also a software developer, and the development system for Android is much more accessible than the Apple (Nazi) system.

I'm psyched and can't wait to get this phone.

As a rep, I never, ever, looked at software version prior to returning a handset.

I agree completely. I have an LG Voyager and while the texting on it is decent, the browser on it makes me want do bad things to kittens. I actually end up stealing my friends Iphone and browsing the forums while at work. The power of the Incredible and the accessibility of Android just is better than Iphone OS hands down...imo of course.

Ha! My husband has been attached to his new video game all week, and usually I'd be kind of sad about it, but its given me an excuse to be on the thread all night!

Plus I'll be able to remind him of all the time he spent playing the game when all I want to do is play with my new Incredible!

Hello forum

I sent VZW an e-mail yesterday asking them what they thought of all the information leaking... the April 25 and 29 release dates... and I just got a response saying that they were "unable to provide information regarding approximate release dates"

I'm just kinda baffled as to why they wouldn't want to come clean and just tell us the information?

I know some of you are tired of the microsd talk, but, I was thinking with the 8 gb of moviNAND, might the speed not be as important. On the thread talking about the eris the faster card made some difference in general speed. However all the testers that we heard about say this thing is really fast, might that be because of the very fast moviNANd. If this is the case we may not see a difference when using a class 2 as just a file repository.

I guess we won't know till we get the phone.

Nice! I've got a Visa gift card I've been saving to use on some accessories. I'm hoping for a nice thin silicone case like BlackBerry makes for their phones and car dock.

I will admit that this thread has a strange addicting quality to it. Hard to leave it...

I'll agree that I'm really looking forward to NOT using my Voyager anymore and saying goodbye to it. I guess overall it's been a decent enough phone and to its credit it's survived several falls (functionally at least) but the browser isn't fun to use and lack of calendar syncing is a real PITA. The Inc will be my first smartphone as well (I've owned PDAs but never combined with my phone!) and I really, really can't wait. I've worked hard to try to be sure my Google account/contacts, etc are all cleaned up and ready to use with the phone...LOL.
