I have a question for you folks in the know on how VZW works. My DH and I are on a family plan. My line is the primary line and is eligible for my NE2. His was activated last June w/o contract because it was a phone we had purchased outright off of ebay. Anyway, he's been eligible for an "upgrade at a discounted price" according to VZW pretty much since we activated the phone. I had always assumed it was a "NE2" because that's how it was worded. And when I used that Best Buy upgrade checker that was posted on here yesterday or the day before, it showed that both lines were eligible for an upgrade and discount. So my question is, what discount amount would normally be available on a second line? I've heard several folks say that you don't get two NE2's so what does the second line get?

On a fam plan, only the primary line gets NE2- he's eligible to upgrade because he's not under contract.
Did anyone else notice that the car holder mentioned the phone won't automatically switch to navigation mode? I wonder if there will be any holder that does this or if that feature will remain unique to the droid.

ok, so this brings up a topic i've been kinda discussing with a few other folks (staff)...
It's actually kinda depressing...we'd like to participate more in threads but the "presence" of a Mod or whatever seems to make people uneasy...like something's "going on"...or they're there to discipline someone...or we're about to get shut down...etc... And it's not nearly as bad for me as a Guide vs. Mod (i can't even imagine what it's like for Phases!)
Anyways...just sayin', when i started this thread, it was to be a general participant, community member, etc... I certainly don't mind the role i'm in, i enjoy it, i think it's helpful to our little community, we have some good sources now who trust that i'll keep their identity in confidence as they give us good information (a lot of it exclusive), etc... but in some ways I do feel more detached from just chatting, funny comments, etc... Sometimes i'd love to just RIP INTO some people for some comments or whatever but end up swallowing some pride, taking a step back, and either saying nothing or coming up with a measured response that is in the best interest of the thread, forum, and overall community...

I have come here with a history of many sites both technical and social. This is the first site I have ever seen where MODs are reluctant to just participate in the threads. My opinion, which being new is not worth very much, is that MODs have every right to participate and if anyone is so paranoid or thin skinned they can not handle a MOD participating they are likely not going to last on any site long.
I was at the Shoreline Verizon store today and the mgr stated they get the Incredible next week. No waiting lists for it though. That doesn't mean it's sold next week just that they get the phones.

This has been the LONGEST 2 weeks of my life... it started about 2 weeks before CTIA.
That's right about the time I began following the thread. My sympathies to those that have been following the Incredible for even longer. I can only imagine how hard it has been...
Man I remember when the Dare was the hot $hit when it came out. I was so excited to get it. It's honestly served me quite well for almost a full 2 years. Granted its limited in its abilities, it has served its purpose quite well.
Yeah, well I'm ready to smash mine! Got mine almost 2 years ago also. The touch screen isn't working on the top right(right where the shortcut tab is.) Sending a pic text takes forever. Opening the Navigator takes forever. I gave up counting all the places where it freezes for like 15 seconds responding to a command. The favorites button in the browser reboots the phone. And I can't recalibrate the screen since part of it isn't working. Texting sux! I need an incredible replacement ASAP! My NE2 has been up since March 4th.

phone will come out for verizon on the 29th, and announced the monday of that week 100 percent certain well 100 percent certain about the release im guessing the monday announcement

Gosh. I just wanted to upgrade my wife's phone. She is only eligible in December and only wants a dumb phone, but this guy was brutal. I want to have our upgrade dates to be the same so in the future, we could use a BOGO offer. This guy said we would have to hold off BOTH our upgrades until our contract expired (4/2011)! I don't think that's right.....and then I asked if the second phone on a line was eligible for upgrade prices after a year and he told me no, I would have to pay the full price. Then I asked about the incredible and he told me any information I have heard about THAT phone was a lie and that no such phone exists. He told me it was for a different carrier.

I'm going to be broke after I buy...the phone, the extended battery, the new cover, that awesome case, the care mount, the screen protector,...
Just a note to people..
The car mounts like that, that are specifically designed for the phone, only fit the phone itself- not any extra cases, etc. So in order to use that mount, you either have to have no case, or take the case off every time you wanna use it. Also remember, that the extended battery will cause the back to be distorted- to my knowledge, VZW does not make cases that fit an ext. battery- you might have luck with a 3rd party...

By take my business elsewhere I mean I'll buy a BB Curve for the time being just to have a decent phone until the Incredible releases and I'll bitch and moan about their lag and call customer service every single day and ask when it will be released.
So as I've been reading this thread I always see people talking about their "source," and I think to myself...I wish I had a source...it just sounds cool. Well it turns out I might. There's nothing too special here...yet. But I just found out an old friend works for verizon and we just had a lengthy facebook chat. He is as excited about this phone as we are. He says he should have some hands on time with this phone very soon and promised to try and get some pics/vid for me. He said he'd get at me as soon as he had anything. I know this is standard BS we hear everyday, but he's a really nice guy and I completely trust him to come through.
A small note, he said he overheard some higher ups talking about increasing initial order numbers. I'm not sure if this is in reference to a specific region or what. But overall point is, I'd love to be posting up some pics in the coming week... We'll see.

My Dare is worse... I can send about 10 texts before the screen turns all black then it does some random flickering and turns off. Only way to get it back on is to plug it in, at which point it says battery fully charged. Then you unplug it and the process repeats itself. Annoying as hell.
It's gotta be always plugged in. Basically, it's an expensive landline now... When I go out, I have no phone service. Two weeks ago I got stranded coming home from the airport and had to walk with my luggage from the train station to my apt about a mile and a half.
But I guess it served me while when it worked. I got the phone the day it released (July 3rd, 2008 was it?) so my new NE2 has been up for a couple months now.
I have been waiting for the Verizon Nexus One since it was announced in January. I'm a sap. No more waiting for me... Incredible here I come!
