What are the options for purchasing an Incredible. I've had my droid since November 09. Verizon is charging 550.00 for it (plus tax), Wirefly is 530.00 shipped. Anywhere else that may have it cheaper?


Also, when I setup the incredible, anyone know if it will detect all the apps I had on droid (both purchased and free?)

$529 is the cheapest I've seen full retail. Ebay is even higher than the Verizon store so don't think you'll find it anywhere else for at least the first few weeks.

At Wirefly.com you could get $50.00 bing cashback but its not clear if it will work. The banner says "restrictions apply", but can't see the restrictions anywhere on the site. =\

And to answer your questions about the apps and contacts. Those are all tied to your gmail account. So when/if you get the incredible, use your gmail account during set up. You should be good to go

You might be able to sneak in a free bluetooth headset too with code wireflyblue11, it says contract required but it allows you to add it to the cart at checkout.. we'll see.

Is it ever possible to break your Droid (with insurance) somehow and pay the difference for an Incredible or something like that?

I do have insurance on my Droid, but I love my Droid too much to break it for an Incredible. I think it'd have to be something better to break my Droid for.

I don't think you should openly suggest committing insurance fraud on a discussion forum. Those types of things never end well.

Breaking your Droid will cost you $75 and you will just get another refurbished Droid.

I have been around a little on a different forum, and there, I have also seen several posts re folks changing from a Motorola Droid to the HTC Droid Incredible. I have only had my Droid for about 3 weeks, (and I'm just getting to know it, and liking it) and I will assume that most of the folks talking about going to Incred are going to sell (?) their Droid, and then add $$$ to whatever they get, and buy a new Incred! Is that the plan? I gotta say, I find it interesting to be in the company of tech-savvy people. I hope I keep learning around these forums, (my next [or mebbe the 2nd next] challenge will be trying to root) but only enough so that I don't get addicted to changing out phones every three months or so. I had to almost threaten oil embargo's and the stability of peace in the Yucatan to get vzw to let me have an early upgrade so I could afford to pay the $199 after rebate to buy this phone.

Anyway, just wanted to weep a moment since I'm new to this forum And if there is a secret as to how to change devices every 3-4 months without incurring extreme expense, let me in on it, please.

BTW...I just looked at eBaY~seems like a lot of Droid phones going for BT $225-275. And the HTC Droid Incredible are jumped in at a staggering $500-all of the way up to $799 SEVEN HUNDRED and NINETY-NINE BUCKS!

What are the key differences?
- no keyboard (I'll call that a negative for the HTC)
- faster processor (no issue with phone speed now)
- thinner (see no keyboard)
- has red underwear
- more mp on the camera
- flash (which we are supposed to have soon)
- more home screens

I am missing something? Why would you spend even $100 let alone $500 to switch?

As far as apps, purchased apps are backed up to your google account. Free apps can be backed up with apps like Titanium Backup, or even Rom Manager, but it isn't always cut & dry even for just swapping roms, let alone devices. Rom Manager is specific to the Droid, and almost every single setting can swap from rom to rom, but it isn't guaranteed. I especially had data backup issues going from cyanogen to smoked glass. These apps are dependent on root access, so even there, until you have root access on the Incredible, you can't restore.

Contacts will restore from the cloud, altho I'm not certain about all the data there. I think Facebook info and contact pics are separate, and will not back up, but I'm not certain.

My son got an incredible today and I've had a chance to play with it a bit, and I have to say, wow. Nice phone. I like my droid, but if they ever get root on the incredible, I may have to make the jump.

You're right that its somewhat weird with the underwear. You forgot to mention that it has 8GB internal storage. Big selling point.

No physical keyboard and the form factor were the deal breakers for me. I checked out the Incredible in the store today and realized I am happy with my 2-week old Droid.

From what I've read...It doesn't have flash...it has the "light" version. Basically it has what we all have now with the Skyfire Browser. Like I've said in other posts about this topic...Droid owners that jump to the Incredible will kick themselves in the ass come late 2010 or early 2011 when the "real" upgrades to the Droid come out!

We are close to getting to the point where most of the upgrades will be comming from the software and battery sides. Amoled HTC EVO with an over the air DTV tuner. Not more more I could want until they make software capable of using better CPUs and GPUs.

I posted this somewhere else, but after using Incredible a while, Skyfire performance blows Flash Lite 4 away. Flash Lite 4 has even less functionality than Flash Lite 3.1 has (I have it on the Archos 5 with Opera).

Skyfire is an outstanding bridge until Flash 10.1 is released, which Droid owners will probably get before Increds do (Sense dev lag time). Sure, Skyfire is converting the vids, but the end result is MUCH better than Flash Lite 4.

Still makes no sense why they took the full screen feature out of Flash Lite 4, but it works in Flash Lite 3.1. Zooming the vid in the page sux (blocky).

crap, didn't pull trigger fast enough, its at 599.99 @ wirefly now making the BCB deal useless. Might as well buy in store with tax.

I got a chance to use it yesterday again, setting up a relatives, its really slick and worth upgrade, if i can get it down to the 150-200 range (after deals and selling droid).

Well I'm one of those that bought an incredible out right and I must say its fast. Smooth but I miss my Droid. I miss my Android gallery 2.1 and many other things. So I will say the Incredibleis an upgrade but not a big upgrade.

I did the same thing and kicked myself in the ass for it. It's still has a better camera, way faster and smoother. Droid screen is better in my opinion. I like the thinner body though.8 G storage was great too. That's really the selling point to me

I kinda want to get the Incredible. I am going to wait until November though. VZW told me I get a new phone in November and by then I'm sure there will be a better phone out.

I played with the Incredible for a few minutes with the intention of switching just to get rid of the physical keyboard, but after reading through the Incredible forum it seems that there are a lot of things folks don't like so I think I'll keep the Droid. If I could find a way to move the cursor in a text field reliably I'd glue the damn keyboard shut and be happy.

Incredible has significantly better Exchange Activesync support, including PIN lock and remote wipe built in, much better exchange UI and features...if someone is a heavny work email/contacts/calendar user that alone might be worth the switch. Pretty much kicks the Droid's exchange support butt. And 3rd party options like Touchdown are a weak fill-in.

A buddy has an Incredible and that's the main (maybe only) thing I'm really jealous of...

One major issue that would worry me is the number of broken screen posts from light drops...saw a post today from someone who dropped his Inc from two feet onto it's back and lost his screen.

I've dropped my Droid from as high as 5' onto concrete and asphalt several times, and the only damage is a little scratching on the metal case. For someone like me, the Incredible might be a very bad choice for that reason alone.

Not really..they'll just sell their current phone and jump to the next. Some people love to switch out phones every 6 months. If you have cash burning in your pocket, why not.

Played with it today some too and boy it's so butter smooth. But I like stock android and a keyboard. Can't wait for the MOTO Droid 2.

Isn't the Moto Droid 2 rumored to use MotoBlur instead of just having stock Android? If so, automatic pass on that.
