Thought I would post up some information in case anyone else runs into this problem. For some reason I could not get my Gmail accounts to automatically sync today. Tried several reboots, changed settings, switched to WiFi, back to 3G, removed some apps I thought could be causing the issue, but nothing. Then while taking a break from this annoyance I decided to switch scenes to see if I liked my old one better. Minutes after switching scenes my Gmail started syncing and notifying me of e-mails. I have no idea how or why, but I switched back to the scene that was having the problems and it's all working just fine now. Don't know if this will help anyone, but I was close to removing Gmail and accounts, so this simple fix was a welcome surprise.
