What is your dBm value in that situation (phone at 1 bar, car at 5)?

I've rarely found the bars on any phone to be a true indicator of service unless it says "No Service." All that matters is whether your call quality is good, and mine has been no matter what phone I've had or where in the U.S. I've lived in the last 7 years I've been a Verizon customer.

yeah been watching it. Its weird the incredible will have 4 bars drop to one but my car will stay the same. I think maybe the bar is way to sensitive on the incredible. I get 1 bar in the car with 100dbm 2 with 93dbm, and and 5 with 80bdm

I would think the signal meter that your car is showing is the bluetooth strength between your car and your phone. Not the signal your phone is getting from the cell towers.
