Does the EVO 3d battery fit in the EVO 4g?? Does it provide any better battery life?? If so ill get one on ebay. The quick 15-20% drain on my evo4g really grinds my gears...
These batteries 2x 3500mah For HTC EVO 3D New Extended Battery Black Wall Charger + Cover Sprint | eBay
seem to work fine under normal use, and they ship from NY, However, They initially sent me the wrong charger for the HTC sensation, emailed them about it, couple weeks later (yesterday) received the new charger in the mail and it too was the wrong charger for the evo4g. Needless to say I'm furious, sent them another email threatening negative feedback blah,blah,blah...
I got a 5 word reply... "Did you received white one" to which I replied "no". I've yet to hear anything back from them.
Needless to say these batteries haven't seen a full charge yet, but I've gotten about 50hrs of up time with about 6hrs. of awake time.
I'm thinking about asking for an extra battery for my trouble.
I've been searching for a while now and I can't find an answer. I have a non-rooted EVO 3D. After the Oct 11 update my battery life went to the toilet. Before the update I was getting battery life of 12-14 hours and now I go from 100 to 0 in 2 -3 hours.
The battery monitor shows the biggest user is Android OS. Which used to take up very little CPU or battery time now it's taking up 72%. The biggest user of CPU time is mhl_sii9234_wq. Not sure what that process is.
I'm using a Seidio 1900 mAh battery. I've also used the stock battery. I've done several hard resets with no joy. I'm going crazy cause I have to keep my phone on the charger all of the time. Just an example. I took my phone off the charget when I started typing this. It was at 100%. The phone has been sitting here idle with the screen off. It is now at 95%.
I do have Netflix installed but I rarely use it. Right now the only app that would even be related to video is Qik and it is not using any CPU time.
I don't have any task killers. I'm running Juice Defender Ultimate which doesn't seem to do much. Fast boot is on.
I'm in the US on Sprint. It is a new phone, not refurb. Never been rooted. I'm the only owner.
This particular handset is about 2 months old. I had two others and they were replaced due to bad screens but each time I was given a new handset out of the box. And with the others the battery life was fine until I installed the Oct 11 update.
netflix can still be in the background running. maybe uninstall it for a bit and see if you notice any changes?
ive not noticed any battery decrease after any update and i am stock unrooted also.
i would look at your screen brightness, and turn off any RF services (BT, WIFI, 4G) if you dont need them.
but if you noticed decreased runtime with a hard reset and no apps installed, i would look at possibly a faulty battery. could also be something physically wrong with the handset. have you taken it to sprint repair? if not, this may be a good time to do so.
OT but you are an EMT? in a previous life i used to be a firefighter and would also work on the ambulance in that county. 9 years... good times..
I found that I had a horrible battery drain after turning on the Instant Upload feature in Google+. It first happened on my wife's phone and it indicated Android OS was the problem, so I couldn't figure it out. I then turned the feature on my phone on and my battery started dying quickly showing Android OS as the culprit. I changed the Google+ Instant Upload feature to happen only on Wifi and turned off Battery uploads, problem solved. Now the only issue is when my kids play Netflix and games on battery power for an hour or two, drains the battery fairly quickly.

I was thinking maybe my Seidio dock was causing MHL to run so I'm rebooting and am just going to charge from cable without the dock for now and keep an eye on the processes. Unfortunately if it is the dock I don't know how to tell it not to load mhl.
One of the things I have found to really drain a battery is the (best wifi perfomance ) option in the wifi advanced setting , they were not kidding when they say on it may consume more power , I was testing it and forgot I left it on for a week or so (adhd) and could no figure out what was draining it so fast i was using system monitor to log and it was not showing as an app obviosly so I didnt catch it right away it was in the system , but as default it is not active you have to activate it so anyone with battery loss check to be sure it is off it doesn't seem to help anyway, it literally cut battery life in half.
I have the exact same problem. My battery drains 10% an hour without any use. It happened immediately after the Oct update. I tried everything (even buying a new battery). I finally figured out that when I have Wifi on it sucks the life out of my battery. I have checked all my Wifi settings and they are the same as they were prior to the update. If I turn Wifi off and use just 3g my battery loss is about 2% an hour. I'm at a loss because I love to use my Wifi for speed but a cannot. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Maybe I should just call sprint and see if they can "help"
by the way I did a factory reset and have turned off all syncing with the same results.

wow... usually 3g sucks up the battery (compared to wifi).
When you noticed 10% an hour drain, did you check in battery usage to find what was really using that 10%? Was it really wifi being number 1 in battery usage page?
Hey guys , I have a evo 3d and just now I have had bad battery life again, I look at whats using my battery and its mostly display but when I look at the chart its like a staircase and every certain time it drops a 90 degree angle then flat again, So somthing is killing it then lets off back and forth. I unistalled shazam which killed my battery last time and now it looks like it came back and I dont know what it is. Any ideas ? my awake time also is up alot compared to screen on
I have shazam and a lot more running applications on my phone...and my battery drains at a normal pace. There might be an app that is causing this to happen. Or you just might have a bad battery.
If the display is showing the most percentage then that's normal. For example, take a look at the screenshot below of my chart. If you notice the display has the most percent - but it doesn't show any apps that I've installed. If an app is draining the battery it would show on the chart. If you really think that something is draining your battery, then one good way of finding this out, is to Uninstall all installed applications.
Now its updated more battery info and the awake is almost always on ! its driving nuts , i think i might just uninstall everything .. Its like somthing keeps getting pushed or a bad app update
well I took it to Sprint and they said nothing was wrong with the battery. They did a factory reset even though I told them I just did it within the last week. Well since then my battery is back to normal lasting the whole day and well into the evening with moderate usage. go figure. sorry i can't give any better assistance. just thought i would give my experience.
My 3Vo uses a bunch more battery with WiFi, and / or GPS nav. With 4G on, or anything else, battery life is fine for me. I do keep a charger in the car, and add a bit of charge when I'm in my office to be sure it never runs out.
Personally, I don't even worry about battery consumption anymore. My phone is always on charge, and I carry three spare batteries whenever I go out. I'm sure one day they'll actually make batteries work the way they were meant to be.

Reason: typo adjustment..
I'm going to say it, the battery usage in android screen is wrong, it lies. It likes to blames the screen, but it's wrong, it's really the GPS, and 3G & 4G radios. How do I know, I tested it.
First I surfed the internet - my battery drained quickly. Next test I downloaded a whole bunch on content and turned on airplane mode. Then I read the content in airplane mode - the battery barely drained at all.
I've ran versions of this test over and over. It's not the screen that's draining the battery, it's getting a bump rap.
The phone also really uses the battery when the 3G signal is weak, and it's switching back and forth between roaming and the weak 3G signal. Like I said, the radio is using the battery. But if you check About phone -> battery -> battery use you won't see that.
I'm give you this info because I'm trying to make my battery last a full day, and as long as we are all misdirected we'll never figure this out. In a few years the battery problem will be solved, but until then it sucks.
This is consistent with my observations as well. And I've tried to spread the message in various forums here. People didn't listen. Keeping 3G off until you need it is probably the best battery-saving tip in existence. And it's easy to automate with Android. On CDMA phones, SMS messages and phone calls still come in even with 3G off, so all you're losing are push email notifications or notifications from other social apps, etc.

+1
I've thrown this out there as well in the OG forums, more of a regurgitation than an epiphany.
3G only takes about 2-3 seconds to turn back on, so it really isn't a major P.I.T.A. At least for me it isn't.

At the first time using an evo, i was thinking the battery life were so poor, mate.. But after read a couple things in the forums and i do whatever they said, I can save my battery life about 75% with a usage just like you, most of my work time is on my desk with a computer in front of me, I never do a browsing or listening radio with my Evo, just see an update from stream or twitter, streaming a youtube, and it using a wifi not a 3G.. And after lunch time, I still have 60% battery.. I'm rooted and used a LeeDroid ROM, and it's awesome, eh.. So by changing your evo with an iphone, i don't think that's a wise choice, some of them above said very clearly, you need to maintain your phone and all that stuff to save your battery life, and that's true.. I did it, and my battery life was saved..
It's literally been a year that I've had my Seidio 4000mah extended battery, and I have to say that it sucks right about now. Sure, I have chargers everywhere I go (work, home, car), but I don't leave it charged for excessive amounts of time. Now, I'll be lucky if I can get 4 straight hours out of it. That's longer than the factory battery. WTF?
I've had this setup for so long that I'm use to carrying this brick around. But now it looks like I'll have to cut the weight and size in half again, and go back to my original battery and case. I don't want to, but I'd hate to buy another extended battery and have the same thing happen again next year... Yeah, I plan on keeping this phone until the next generation of 3D phones from HTC comes out - sadly, which may be never.
Just downloaded 4.0.3 Android... Not happy with Battery Life...
I've had my HTC EVO 4G 3D for about 6 months now... just recently, notice came on my phone saying upgrade available... I did it... took approx 20 min... my gmail completely changed along with other things... my MAJOR issue is that BEFORE I had selected the BATTERY SAVER option from the 'pull down' menu... I would swipe down the screen like I was checking for new msgs or missed calls and select the QUICK SETTINGS option and I 'think' it was called the battery saver or power saver option.... (leaning towards 'power saver')
anyway, I have android 4.0.3 which I guess is the 'new' software and my battery dies instantly again... before, on the 'power saver' I was getting more than decent battery life... now, it's horrible again...
My issue...... I can't find the 'power or battery saver' option in the menu..... is there such a thing in my version 4.0.3 ???!! I wish I could just go back to the previous version of android cuz I really dislike the Gmail... I liked it a lot better the way it was before....
If you can help me with a power saver option, that would be great!!! I downloaded "process manager" from the app market and it doesn't kill the apps... it's always running in the background and I don't like it...
You can try juice defender - it should allow you to set options similar to what battery saver did earlier.
P.S. Don't really worry about processes/apps running in the background. Unless it is actually (noticeably) slowing your device down, let android OS manage background tasks. Killing it (in most cases) is useless because the OS will have to start the app up again when it is needed, thus using up a little more battery. Leaving it up in the background is not consuming CPU cycles and the OS will free up RAM if/when it is needed by other applications.
wow, the consumer reviews of juice defender on the android market look great... everyone seems to be happy, so I will def give it a shot! thanks for the tip jj14x!

I wish I could l remember how I did it but I have the EVO 4G LTE and I'm pretty sure it was on this forum. I downloaded something and them made a shortcut and my shortcut looks like my settings shortcut but it's a power saver shortcut. I know that doesn't help but I forgot what I downloaded and then it took me to powersaver and I have it as a shortcut on one of my screens.

No I don't have Juice Defender but whatever it was I clicked on something and made a widget and now when i click on this widget which looks the settings icon. It takes you to a hidden power savings feature. I may have seen it on Good & EVO not here.

WOW!!!! Turning off 3G when not using it has made a HUGE improvement. I also made sure WIFI was always on even when sleeping and I get twice the battery life now. (Of course make sure you have WIFI available) Otherwise, just turn on 3/4G when you need it.

I don't know what it is, could be the new ICS update, but my battery drains so fast now.
Just now it was fully charged at 100%. I surfed via facebook app for 5 min using 3g data. It lost 5% of battery (using a battery widget). WTF...how can 5 min of facebook use up 5% of battery?
It's not just that, other times I will have notice a huge drop in battery power from doing things that used to barely take up any battery power.
We'll I'm not complaining about my battery life because I can basically watch a 10+ hour video if I want but why does it not show all the apps I use anymore in the battery details? Such as youtube app and internet? Stock everything on Evo3D, nothing rooted, had the phone for about a year (since it came out) running ICS.
Also the reason I have almost 10 hours of "on-time" is because when I'm at work I'll watch videos on youtube and pause them and set the phone down to do other stuff and then continue were I left off. If you turn off the screen you have to reload the youtube video again for some reason. Same goes when I'm on the internet, if I turn off the screen it reloads the page, so basically I just leave the phone on all day and get a full day of "on-time" with just youtube and internet browsing. I believe the information that shows up in the battery details are not accurate, my device never shows more then 3 things ever, even when playing games, youtube, facebook, netflix, zenonia 3, internet, etc etc. It has been like this ever since ICS update, when I had gingerbread, everything was accurate on the battery details but now I don't know.

Depends on what you are doing with your phone in those 4-5 hours.
If your phone is sitting idle, no - that is not normal.
If you are watching videos, or playing games continuously for those 4-5 hours, then yeah, it is normal.

4-5 hours of screen on, active use isn't horrible, but as some other users have indicated, you can get a few more hours. Try to get the battery tested to see if it is ok.
I barely use my phone for 15 to 30 minutes and it'll run out from fully charge. I check the phone battery use and it shows
Display:89%
dialer:5%
cell standby:2%
internet:2%
Pandora:@2%
The display is using a lot of battery, does anyone know how to fix that? I adjust the screen brightness and screen timeout but nothing is working. I really need to find out why the Display is using so much battery?

Your brightness may be on 100%? The brighter your screen the less battery life you'll have
I've moved your thread to the Evo 3D forum for you. Hopefully there'll be another kind member here that might have another idea for you to help you with your battery life issue.
89% for the display does seem a bit high...for what it's worth, I've always left the "automatic brightness" box unchecked on all of my five Android devices and set the brightness manually. My thinking is that the phone will be adjusting the brightness for me when I might not necessarily need it. So, perhaps yours is doing that, too, but to the extreme. Turning that setting off for a day or two might reveal that its the issue (or will quickly rule it out).
Another problem that I see is that the battery bar is unusual, when I charge it for a few minutes it show half charge from low battery which it can't be that fast. It only happen time to time. Even when the phone is fully charge, the phone sometime turn off when I'm using the market app or on youtube so this phone is really stressing me out. If anybody knows the solution, I'll be humble for the help.
Sprint continues their EVO line of Android Phones with what is certainly a first for them - a 3D phone. The HTC EVO 3D boasts 3D technology on a beautiful 4.3-inch screen and get this: you don't even need glasses to enjoy the 3D experience!
