Market Apps missing - aka - how to save/restore your apps to the HTC EVO 3D
Going from the EVO 4G to the 3D, I noticed I am missing some apps that I downloaded before. Do you have to download them again or will they take a few hours to show up? I know I had a Cardio app that had about 2 months of data saved.......didn't want to lose that.

You should be missing all of them. Only stock Google/Sprint/HTC apps should be there, everything else needs to be reinstalled (unless backed up).
My recommendation - once you get the phone set up as before, sign up on Appbrain website and manage your apps through it. Priceless at times like this.

Yup you have to redownload and install. I saved time by going to Android Market on my computer via browser, logging in and then clicking on my library. From there you can select the App and then Select the Device and install and it pushes the app to your phone and installs for you. It is fast, I would go into Store Account settings and name your device HTC EVO 3D.

My assumption would be that since you're moving to a new device, you'll need to re-download and re-install all your apps. Any data you want from your 4G would need to be backed up and copied over to your new device also.

Thanks everyone for the help. I still have the EVO 4G active (wifi) so I will check out app-brain or another app that will backup/save info/restore apps. I don't remember if I had to do this going from the Hero to the Evo......

If everything on your phone was just normal, it has a record of your previous installs - you can simply re-send them to your new phone (it goes by phone number).
(This is basically a re-hash of sikclown's advice if the AppBrain.com thing doesn't work out for you.)

One thing I noticed with the official market...There are some apps that are installed on my phone, that indicate they aren't installed on my phone.
I still back up all my apps with Appbrain because of this.

Hahaha...Glad I'm not the only one, EarlyMon. Then again, maybe it's because we got the early versions of the EVO 4G? I dunno. Never bothered to even trouble shoot because Appbrain still worked just fine (although, the Execute Changes button doesn't seem to actually connect and install the updates like it seems to on the Epic and Optimus S that I have on my secondary lines).
Originally, this Market bug borked it for everyone. Then, it seemed the fixes came in waves. I think it hit the earlier phones hardest. My wife got her Shift after the Market was online and she's having none of these issues.
Tomorrow I pickup my new 3D and am trading up from my old EVO 4G. I get email, calendar, etc. via our Exchange Server, so that should not be a problem in terms of re syncing all of that. All of my music and pictures are on the SD card, so again, no problem there. But... How'z about all my apps? Is there any way to transfer those, or will I have to re-download them all? And I do have to re download, is there a way to at least save a listing of the apps that I currently have without having to hand-write each one down?

You can get an account at AppBrain.com to ensure you have your apps registered there for quick restore (assuming the Market doesn't have all of your apps listed, an early bug) - or you might try to just back up your apps with Astro File Manager (they'll go to an astro backup folder on your sd card) and restore from there. Or both.

For apps that you have on your old phone that are no longer listed on the Android Market, you can just get the .apk from the original phone and stick it on the SD card of your new phone. Then, if you enabled the ability to install 3rd party apps, you can install the apk from the SD card.
@drexappeal: i forget if it was you I was talking to, but I found out my weather app that's no longer on the market is called "Weather Forecast." I had to copy it from my Evo. I think it's the same app you (or someone else) were talking about. I use the 4x1 widget with clock on left and weather on right.

Yup! That's the same one I have! I think the developer still had it on the market, but it's a "paid" app and super expensive now.

Wow... I find this to be second nature at this point. Almost forgot not everybody flashes ROMs all that often from this forum.
Yea, appbrain is a good way to back up everything easily, granted it's in the market is the only requirement. If you have something that's no longer in the market, you'll need to use something like app monster to save the (.apk) file.
Also, all the stuff you paid for will be remembered in your list due to them being tied to your gmail account.

Thanks, EarlyMon. So Astro will allow me to backup all the apk's that are on the phone storage? I had Astro when I first got my EVO, but switched to another file manager.

Yep. But - maybe not the system apps. Hate it when I misspeak (nice euphemism for screw up) =- checking now.
Astro will do most of them - all of the downloaded ones, a few from the system pre-installs.

Anyone Wiping there Evo 4G tonight for tomorrows release?!?
If so can you explain to others how you are doing it? Also what will be saved in terms of when you sync up the 3D for the first time (google contacts, does that include facebook information as well) I am wondering if i should or not prior to tomorrow mornings big release -
Also whats on our mem cards right now that would be worth transferring over ..
Sorry but never had some much on a phone until the 4G and want to make sure i dont loose anything - (have music, photos, apps etc..)
I've moved your thread over here - a few posts up discusses the ins and outs of getting your apps from one phone to the other.
To wipe your phone to ensure it's blank, perform a factory reset (settings, SD & phone storage) then unmount and format your SD card. (Be sure to back that up to your PC first!!)
Personally, I'd grab the whole SD card - you can always toss away later what you don't need, but you can't get back anything once you've formatted the new one.
I dont remember what i did on my Evo but in the end i had all my contacts in one gmail acct (Email #1). Then i had my market apps on a different gmail acct (Email #2).
When i got my Evo 3D at the Sprint store the guy asked for my gmail account to sync my contacts.. so i gave him the account i had my contacts on (Email #1). I dont know how he set it up but he gave me back the phone with my contacts showing. Which was fine.
I later got on market and started downloading apps. Thats when i realised that my market was tied to the same account i had my contacts on (Email #1) and not the one i had my apps on (Email #2).
I need market to be synced to my other gmail account (Email #2) because i purchased some apps on that account.. what can i do?
I hope i make sense lol
Any help is appreciated!

Factory reset, before you waste time on widgets and wallpapers, or money on apps. Then set up your market Gmail account first, as your primary account. Then just go to accounts and sync, and hit "add account".

Thanks for the response! Well if i have to reset in order to get my other gmail account on my market then i will just wait a few months to see if root comes out for Evo 3D.
On my wife's EVO the market app like others have experienced don't have all of her apps showing so she can't update them. I have tried the different techniques of: Force stopping the Market, Clearing the Cache, and I cannot clear the data because the button is always grayed out even though I have stopped the updater, or google frameworks. The other technique people have said that worked was downloading and uninstalling a free app, but did no use.
Anybody know a way to get the apps to show back up or how to get my Clear data button not grayed out?
I had this same problem after I downloaded the new market also couldn't get any of my apps to show up my apps once I got the new market. I tried lots of different options and couldn't get it to work so I just put the old market back on my phone and will wait for the OTA update for the new market-

back them up to your sd card via third party app(appmonster, appbrain, astro file manager) on the Evo then move your card to your 3D and used the same app to restore them
Assuming you used the same Google / Gmail account to buy apps on your 4G as you did on your 3D. If not, make sure you get the new market and put your old Gmail in the accounts section. Then you can switch to your old account and use the apps you bought with that Gmail. I have 2 Google accounts and I do this. Really easy.
But, if you want to back up save games and such, yeah, TB will do that. Mybackup Root will probably do it, too.
I'm not rooted, sorry about putting this in here. So if I install appbrain on my new phone will my apps come with me?
Your apps are always linked to your Google account. If you go to the Android Market, you'll see "purchased" and "download" for the paid apps you've already purchased.
Restoring the apps from astro but the apps don't show up at the market. Just wondering if there's anyway I can relink them? I search the forum and some people said astro has fixed the issue but some said not. According to my situation, it's not fixed.....
I know that contacts sync but do app sync? A example would be if I do a factory reset will mylst of all my apps I had downloaded before I reset my phone be able to be redownloaded without having to write down a huge list of all my current apps, this is not to be confused with the complete list that includes all my downloads on the gmail account, because of course I deleted a lot of apps I didn't like and don't want to redownload all the apps I uninstalled in the past
Sprint continues their EVO line of Android Phones with what is certainly a first for them - a 3D phone. The HTC EVO 3D boasts 3D technology on a beautiful 4.3-inch screen and get this: you don't even need glasses to enjoy the 3D experience!
