The HTC version was my favorite. I like the way you can turn it on and off without having to go through the lockscreen everytime to turn it back on. I use this app a lot!!! Hopefully there is one on the market that acts the same way.

I found that app, and it works great! New to the Android - the 3d is my first, my daughter has an Optimus S. I may start a preferred apps thread, there are so many duplicates out there. My last phone was a Palm TreoPro that I held until I could get the 3d instead of the 4g. Big jump fro a Palm.

Welcome to the forums and Android. We have a thread for apps already..
I had just started using Tiny Flashlight + LED and it was OK but just wasn't the old 3 stage one on my Evo. Saw your post momoceio and downloaded it...it's working great.
Thanks!
Got it set up. Thanks for that link. Works great. I wonder why HTC left this out? It is such a handy tool.
My guess: Deadlines.
I hope that's the reason, and we can expect an OTA or two within the next month to address these issues. I don't mind being an early adopter and not getting all the bells and whistles immediately, just as long as I get them within a reasonable time frame.

I'd rather they got the bootloader unlock out first.
Very interesting that it isn't there because it's in the user guide
Flashlight Never be caught in the dark again. Use the Flashlight application to turn on your device’s LED flashlight to shine a light wherever you need it. 1. Press and tap > Flashlight. To adjust the brightness of the light, simply tap the onscreen power button on the flashlight handle. Press to switch to Auto flash, SOS, or Manual mode. 2. To close the flashlight, press .
At least the guys over at xda could get the old one for us
Since I won't get my 3D til tomorrow, if anyone has tried the flashlight app, is it the one that looks like an actual flashlight like you see on the commercials, or something different? Just curious ahead of getting my own to try.

It's the same one that looks like a mag-light...same that's on the EVO 4g pretty much. It was pulled from another Sense 3.0 ROM.

I downloaded the .apk, but the phone said it doesn't recognize the file?
Presuming settings, Application, check for install unknown sources:
Use Astro File Manager, goto to /sdcard/download - click the Flashlight.apk - choose second option to go install manager - press install on next screen.

The other (insanely easy) thing that you can do is after checking install unknown sources, email the apk to your gmail account. When you open the email, it allows you to install the right from there. Sure it's wasting a little upload/download, but if you're not crunched for data transfer (I loathe that people call it bandwidth), it's fast and easy.

I noticed that the flashlight app was missing the first day I got the phone and thought to myself, oh no! How could they leave this out. I forgot about it, but glad I read this thread and now have my good old app running great! Thanks guys for getting this out there!

Ditto! I didn't realize how much I missed this app until I needed it the other morning. I had to be at work earlier than usual so I was up before dawn. Didn't want to flip lights on and wake anyone up so I grabbed my phone and...no flashlight app. Downloaded and installed and works great!

But...when I switched from my Hero to E3D I logged into dropbox and bam! Otherwise I'd have to hook both phones up to my PC and copy everything over or swap SD cards (Hero had 4gb so that wasn't gonna happen)

WIN!!!!!!!!!!
Until dropbox doesn't work. Then again, you could just make your own dropbox on your phone -
