The green matrix-like screen is the exact one I had on my first Evo 3D. The touch screen then failed to respond until I pulled the battery and rebooted three times.
Returned it in part because of that but also because of the screen tilt that is the result of an apparent mis-mounting at the factory.
Anywho, very happy with the replacement

Start with a blank homescreen, long press, Widgets, bookmark widget, scroll left right to choose icons or list. Any bookmarks you set in the browser will show up in the widget.
You can long press bookmarks in either the browser or widget and get the same choices.
Upper right arrow on widget takes you to current page if browser running in background.

I already have the bookmarks screen/widget setup on one of my pages. I was just wondering how to save my favorite pages from my browser to where the screenshot icons are, or if it automatically did it.
I guess "long pressing" my favorite pages was the answer I was looking for. Thanks.

New problem now... I was about to watch a YouTube video and put the phone down while it was loading, and while I was doing something else. With the phone shutting off, and without out looking at the video I put the phone in my pocket...
Now it won't turn on at all. I have a charger here with me at work, so battery power isn't the issue. I've tried long pressing the power button a couple of times, but nothing. This is the first time this has happened (with this replacement phone).

Miren does this. I'm not aware if other browsers do this.

screen will not turn on after watching youtube 3d and put the phone down
Hi guys,
I just encountered this problem 3 times today.
Each time, I have to remove battery to reboot the phone.
I thought there was a thread on this issue, I just tried to search for it but somehow came up with nothing. I remembered reading a thread about this the first time I encountered this issue ~2 weeks ago. But could not find it now.
steps:
1. go to youtube app. watch a 3d video
2. while playing the video, video appears to be paused (probably still buffering).
3. put the phone down while it is loading
4. after a while, press power button to turn on the screen. but screen won't turn on.
5. try long-press power button, no help
6. all four buttons on the bottom bezel lights up. but pressing on it does not have any effect.
7. try to press any physical button on the phone, no effect.
8. I think the phone is still on, just the screen is not turned on. because sometimes I can hear the sounds from youtube.
9. the only way to turn the screen back on is to do a battery pull.
thank you very much.

What version of YouTube are you guys running? Is it 2.1.7? To check, push the Menu button. Then Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All, then scroll all the way to the bottom. Click on YouTube. The version is listed at the top. If not, go to the market and update YouTube and please report the version here.
If you have 2.1.7: When the player is buffering, does it do the circle animation? If not, something else is wrong and I am not sure what it could be. Try loading the 3D YouTube videos from the web browser. If it still locks up, I'd recommend you try to get a replacement.
Edit: Is this happening over 3G, 4G, WiFi, all, or none? Did you try A.02 in the FAQ?

Thanks, jerofld,
youtube version 2.1.7
The video just stops in the middle. I do not see the circle animation. In fact, I am not even sure if it is buffering.
Happening on both 3g and 4g (with 4g turned-on or off). However, I am not sure 4g is really on. I have not tried a.02 yet. Sounds like it require me to Master Subsidy Lock from sprint.
For anyone who has this problem, please try to report it to HTC as well. This will let HTC know that it is happening so that they can fix it.
Thank you, everyone.

If you don't want to call Sprint for MSL, it's fairly straight forward to get it with CDMA Workshop. It takes some patience, though, and careful reading of the instructions.
How do I access the information at the header level on the home page at the very top where it shows the download icons, 3G, 4G, battery level icons and so on? The EVO isn't like my previous Touch Pro 2 where I could use my stylus to access this information.
I need to find out why a couple of the apps I've paid for and attempted to download haven't downloaded yet. The confirmation emails I've received said I've successfully downloaded the apps, but they're nowhere on my phone, including the SD. I've had the error triangle ever since I've attempted the downloads, which was two days ago. It was late at night, and my reception was so-so. So thinking it was automatically downloading the two apps I bought, I let the phone be for the night, but then woke up to them not being on the phone at all.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Grab the notification bar with finger, pull down - or - homescreen, Menu, Notifications.
I learn new things about this phone every day... Thanks.
I've cleared out the downloads from that pull down, but the two apps in question aren't on the phone at all. I've even checked the "Unknown Sources" box to accept all downloads. Did I just get ripped off?
If a server error happens on the Market side, it can get wonky, but otherwise you should be able to download and re-download to your phone provided the gmail address didn't change.
Try going homescreen, Menu, Applications, manage all apps, see if you can find a stub or any reference to the app there and then if so, uninstall - then re-try Market download.
Assuming these were Market purchases.
PS - If not, use Astro File Manager, goto /sdcard/download and see if you don't find the .apk file there. If so, single tap it, follow screen prompts to get to the installer.
To re download apps you purchased from the market, you can do one of two things:
Do a search for them.
Or push the Menu button. There's an option called "My Apps". Click that. It'll show you everything you've installed at the top. Scroll all the way to the bottom and it'll show you the apps you have purchased but haven't installed.

Hey all, I'm having trouble syncing my new evo 3d to my computer. It's not showing up as a drive when plugged into my computer via usb and I'm not able to download the htc sync app to my computer currently using my hotspot...anyone have anyways around that (i don't currently have the adapter for the sd card either).

I was having similar issues too when I needed to copy specific files.
Go to Homescreen > Menu > Settings > Connect To PC > Ask Me > Check Box... By doing this, you will have the 3 options to connect to your PC. 1) Charge only 2) Disk Drive (the one you're looking to do) and 3) HTC Sync. So each time you plug in your USB cable, you'll be prompted by your phone to select which of those three options you want to do.

I've had that happen to me and I think I ended up just restarting it a few times until it actually restarted. Once it did, it has been doing it since.
Happy New Year everyone! When I am entering text into a field the entered text disappears and when I attempt to re-enter the text that disappears as well; also the keyboard disappears and the screen will flicker sorta when I tap for the keyboard or the keyboard will pop-up then disappear. I hope that I explained this well enough...does anyone the fix to this?

They only appear on text I receive. They never appear as droidicons when I insert them, just as regular smileys. How can i correct this on my htc EVO 3D to make the green guy appear properly when i insert a smiley?
Now the green guys are showing up when I insert the smileys but no explanation why they weren't before. Seems like i have to constantly tweak my HTC 3D or reload it because the apps rarely work right... Might have had something to do with It. Still i wonder If anyone else that cares Is having this problem? Also has anyone ever actualy been able to use 4G on htc EVO?

Did you install any emoticon packs?
I've never had this issue and my 4g works flawlessly
Did this issue start after you installed any new apps?
I havent installed any emoticon or sms apps. Now my EVO will only show green Droid smileys when I receive a text from someone. The only green smiley i can get to show when i send a text is the teardrop smiley. Not the mist important function on the phone but still annoying that some smiles suddenly don't register.
Uh...why? Why us the phone inconsistent with showing the green guys? Now it only works from insert smiley but not the preset keypad text. Why? I just want to understand. Also why can't I go online during a phone call? My 3g icon disappears from the status bar and I'm told I have no connection whenever I try on speakerphone. Thanks in advance.

The smilies should work but are dependent upon being typed how the phone's programming would recognize them. IIRC, :-) should produce one... :-( another. If they don't have the dash, they don't show up (and even then, some of them are just plain odd).
In regards to internet during call, that's the limitations of the CDMA network that Sprint uses. If you were in a 4G area or had your wifi on and connected you'll find that they will stay connected during a call. 3G uses the same connection that a phone call does, from my understanding. GSM networks (such as ATT or TMob) don't have this issue.

Glad Kelmar could help. But something I've noticed is with the default HTC keyboard, it can be frustrating to do the emoticons. Actually, I find most of the stock HTC keyboard frustrating. Other keyboards, like SwiftKey X, Swipe (I think), and the one I use (Ice Cream Sandwich keyboard) usually have much easier ways of inputting emoticons. Usually holding enter or shift will give you a key of all available emoticons. Showing what they look like and/or how to type them.
I was deleting my cache files in clockwork mod recovery and it seems in my tinkering I deleted the system cache folder located in the advanced section. Now when I try to boot the phone it stays on the white HTC screen and will not do anything.
System Restore does not work, reflashing the rom does not work, I need the files for the system folder located on the SD card.
It's a Evo 3D that has been rooted and flashed with Android Revolution HD rom. I can still access the Fastboot, Recovery, and ClockworkMod.

What do I do now?
You deleted your /system folder, which houses your ROM. Reflash your ROM and you should be OK. Remember to use fastboot to flash your kernel if you're on HBOOT 1.5.
Got my FM radio widget to work but it only works right after I power up my phone. And only once. After that if I plug my headphones back in it always force closes until I power off and on again. The only thing I can think of is for some reason I get into the habbit of clearing out a lot of data on Apps (some of which I have no idea what they do) (rosie utility???) under 'manage applications' and it seems to keep my phone constantly re-updating Apps and starting from square one everyday.
Anyways, I'm just wondering if there's something I can do or stop doing to make the radio app work every time instead of only once immediately after a power off. It's just annoying is all...

Reason: oops
Rosie utility is a part of your Sense framework. What that means is that you're clearing data on the foundation of your operating system. I would really recommend that you don't clear out the data/cache on Rosie Utility unless you think something is wrong with the way Sense is running.
As for the radio widget, I don't run Sense launcher anymore, so I can't verify. Try clearing it's cache and data in Manage Applications.
No luck with that. No matter what I do it just force closes unless I power off and on. Maybe when I get rooted and go with a non sense based ROM that'll work. Hopefully. Thankyou for the rosie info.
Will do. Here's a dumb little question...When I go to change vocoder settings under ##data# what's the option to check USB charging about other than the obvious? Is that just another way to set the default to charge only when you go to connect to pc under settings? Or is it used for performing a different function?

Reason: ???
I just want it to be known that as of today - I have no thinking of upgrading to another device at this time. Tried them all on Sprint.. and I'm back to my same phone. (Htc Evo 3d.) I just love this bad beast of a phone.
It's to allow app developers to change what the phone thinks is it's actual location, so to test location specific apps. Like lets say I was developing a weather app and I want to make sure it pulls the right data for other cities, like San Diego, Seattle, or Oklahoma City. Using that feature, you can trick the phone into thinking it is in those cities.

So here's my latest doosey...I can't call Sprint customer service from my EVO. Not by dialing *2 or the 888-211-4727 number.
I remember reading somewhere on here about this but I can't find it. So I apologize in advance if this has been covered. I changed the vocoder and proxy settings via ##DATA# as per forum advice but I'm convinced this is why I can't call Sprint.
Either way, customer service says the only way to fix this is by doing a factory reset. I like having better voice quality, streaming quality AND being able to call customer service from my phone. Is there another way to fix this? If I do a factory reset, im gonna want to change those settings again and if l can't call Sprint as a result, I'm not sure what to do. I don't have a landline. Anyone?

Sprint continues their EVO line of Android Phones with what is certainly a first for them - a 3D phone. The HTC EVO 3D boasts 3D technology on a beautiful 4.3-inch screen and get this: you don't even need glasses to enjoy the 3D experience!
