Default [OFFICIAL SOLUTION FAQ] Having trouble with your EVO 3D? Click here!

Hi guys and gals!

I am building a FAQ-style thread to reference the more common questions revolving around our new device, in an effort to cut down on repeat questions. If you wish to contribute, by all means, please do! I ask that we keep the replies in this thread relevant. As much as I would appreciate people posting how useful this is, I would like to keep the clutter to a minimum. The format will be: 1) The question 2) the answer and 3) the source thread (if applicable).

This is a forum-member generated FAQ to help people solve issues with their phones. The most commonly asked questions are highlighted in RED.

General help and information sources:

Generic Troubleshooting Steps:

Section 1 - Switching to the EVO 3D from a previous phone?

1.01) How do I transfer stuff from my old phone to my new EVO 3D?

1.01a) Need to transfer your contacts and calendar information?

1.02) I have another Android device with Google Authenticator, how do I move it?

Section 2 - General EVO 3D issues:

2.01) I can't connect with 3G [Official Solution]

2.02) The Sync icon won't go away!

2.03) How do I turn off the haptic (vibration) feedback?

2.04) How do I remove all the Facebook friend birthdays?

2.05) Can't find the USB Drivers to sync your EVO 3D to a computer? Where can I find HTC Sync?

2.06) My 3D pictures are showing two pictures side by side in 3D, how do I fix it?

2.07) Can I stop my text messages from previewing on the lockscreen?

2.08) How do I upload pictures and videos to YouTube or other apps?

2.09) How do I save my phone's contacts as Google contacts, so they save to the cloud?

2.10) I deleted the files on my SD card, where can I download them, again?

2.11) The ringtone/notification volume is too low, is there any way to make it louder?

2.12) Head phones causing songs to fast fwd/skip?

2.13) Apps and/or shortcuts to my SD card disappear, how do I fix that?

2.14) My battery doesn't charge to 100%! Even when plugged in!

2.15) I'm having problems with WiFi!

Section 3 - Archived Issues:

Section 4 - Advanced Techniques, Tweaks and Rooting.

A.01) First steps: Getting your MSL

A.02) Support Streaming Media through bypassing the Sprint Proxy

A.03) My voice quality is low, is there any way I can improve it? [Official Solution]

A.04) Connect to 4G faster and stay connected longer

A.05) What is Rooting? How do I do it?

You, as well as the other mods, are openly invited to modify my original post to keep it up to date and add information as it becomes available. Not that I could stop any of you, anyways, but I know you all wouldn't normally edit a post unless the post fell outside of the rules.

I also appreciate this thread being stickied and added to the official forum guide! I look forward to expanding this thread, just not today. I have a new toy to play with

I synced Facebook for the pics, etc. I don't want the birthdays/fb events showing up in my calendar app. I can't find a setting to remove them?
I tried Settings/Sync/Facebook and unchecking the calendar, but they're still all there...

Does anyone know if I can change the grid size/icon size in Sense?

I miss having 5x6 grid of icons under ADW

Another question, can I use Sense widgets (friendstream for example) when running another launcher like ADW?

Open the Calendar application and then click All Calendars at the top. You will get a drop down to Uncheck the ones you don't want.

The problem is Youtube hasn't enabled filtering for 3D videos, at least not on the mobile device. They need to set it up as a category. So when you search for 3D, you're getting trailers for "Lion King 3D", which is a trailer for the 3D movie - but not necessarily in 3D.

Search for "3D Video" and select GoPro 3D: Highlight Reel 2011. Its one of the best I've seen on Youtube for viewing on the Evo 3d.

Does anyone know how to make my Evo3D come out of sleep when I get a notification? So far this is my only complaint with the device. When I get a text I have to manually take the phone out of sleep to view it. I'd prefer if it would take itself out of sleep so I could simply view the message.

When I get phone calls it comes out of sleep and shows the caller. I would like it if it did this with messages too.

I use a program called "SMS Popup" for this. I don't get my EVO 3D for 3 more hours though, so I haven't tried it on there yet. But it's always worked great on my G1 and Cliq.

One minor issue/ I loved the preloaded 3D pics and all the other pics and videos but after I took out the memory card that came with it and put in my bigger memory card from my original evo all those sample 3D pics and everything were gone. As Im typing this I just thought in my head maybe those sample pics were saved on the memory card that came with it maybe?

I got one, that might be good for the sticky if it is a common issue. My sample 3D photos don't show in 3D, they are just 2D double exposures. When I hit the 3D/2D button on the screen it will flip to the regular 2D picture, but when I try to set it back to 3D it will just do the same flat double exposure. Is there something wrong or a setting I have to turn on? When I take a picture it takes the picture in 3D, but then when I try to view it, same double exposure crap. Is there something wrong with my phone?

Resetting the phone seems to fix this issue.

Ok, now this is going to sound really stupid, and i really do feel ashamed, but how do you go back and view 3d videos you made on your 3vo? I know they are saved in SD card as Video001, Video002, etc. But only the last video shows up at the bottom left corner. How do you go back and view "Video001"? I'm usually not this much of a n00b, but I can't find it anywhere

LOL!!!!!!!! /FACEPALM big time!!! never mind... DOH! Just needed to swipe to the previous ones..

HTC Mobile Phone Support - HTC EVO 3D (Sprint) - Help has a FAQ of sorts that I think could be very useful on this page or the forum guide. It is very generalized stuff, not as precise as this great thread. It could answer numerous questions for people though before they go and make new topics (if they take the chance to look first).

I'd also like to know if there is a way to do this... I used to use LP+ and had the grid set to have the icons closer together and missed that option when I went to mikg and started using sense, and now on the e3d the problem is even worse because of the larger screen size...

I'll keep looking.

FriendStream is simply an app/widget. It'll work with any launcher. But it doesn't seem like there is a way to change the grid without a soft root, unfortunately.

Default 3D wont go to sleep

Hey guys,

just got my new 3D and noticed the phone is not going to sleep after its set time of 1 min. Checked my never sleep setting and it is not checked or enabled to never sleep. I noticed is also never sleeps while charging. I have to press the top button to make it sleep...any ideas?

Edit - Sleep seems to be working now just fine. I got my first full charge of battery last night. Woke this morning to a fully charged battery and sleep works perfectly. Not sure if this had something to do with it but it works.

could be some apps you have installed preventing it from sleeping.

have you installed all for the OTA updates that have been released i the last few days for this handset?

I tried ADW launcher though, and cannot find Friendstream or any of the other HTC widgets under my widget list. I think they're only meant to be used in Sense? Can someone please confirm?

And btw can I change the gallery icon to display the last picture taken, instead of always displaying the first?

Confirmed. I was skeptical too when I first read that Friendstream would work on any launcher. HTC has proprietary widgets that only work with Sense. Those won't work on 3rd party Launchers, which only support Android widgets.

That's unfortunate about FriendStream, then. It must reference something in the Sense framework, which wouldn't be there with another launcher. Sorry for misleading you.

2.02) The Sync icon won't go away!

This appears to be a common problem with the Watch accounts. To fix it, push Menu (button) Settings > System Updates > HTC Software Updates and then push Check Now. You should get two updates.

Thanks to sikclown for this information!

If this doesn't work, please let me know. I've noticed that the sync icon likes to pop up a lot and stick around for 5 minutes, then goes away.

Go into sync and hit cancel sync. If the sync cancels, try doing a manual sync. Give it a minute or so. Let me know what happens, please.

Hey guys, my spinning carousel gets stuck when I unlock the screen. The weather animation plays, but the carousel gets stuck in the animation and after a few seconds the home screen just appears.

I've tried restarting w/ battery, and everything else I can think of, still no fix :\

Try playing with the animation settings. Menu (button) > Settings > Display > Animations

If not, I'd try a force stop/clear data on "HTC Sense" with the clock (or both of them) in Manage Applications > All or a factory reset. If that doesn't work, I'd take it back. If we could reflash our devices (*shakes fist at S-ON*), I would recommend that.

Please respect the OP - this is not a general go over anything thread - this is for listing specific solutions to specific problems.

If everyone uses this as a talk-about-every-problem thread, then it loses all value as a FAQ.

Default Charging Cable / TV Out Cable

I have the need to get another standard charging cable (usb type). I'm not sure what I should be searching for on ebay. ALso I remember the TV Out (Phone to HDMI) was called MHL or something to the sorts. Not that I will be using the TV out that much but would like the option so if anyone has info on either of these cables it would be much appreciated.

Hi - what's not available on your phone??
I had assumed he meant that he couldn't get FriendStream to work on a non-Sense launcher. (Almost a pun, there. Almost)

Any USB (sometimes called USB A) to microUSB cable will work. They are probably just listed as "microUSB cables".

I am a newb and I work in a pretty loud enviorment. I could usually hear my old phone okay but not this Evo 3D. I have the volume pegged but I can never hear it when a call, email or text message comes in. Is there any way to make it louder? Step by step would be appreciated.
Also I noticed that the phone can tell if it is in a pocket, how does it do this?
Thanks
