The OTA may have been pre-installed if you exchanged the phone after the OTA was released (June 28th IIRC). Check About System > Software information. If your software number ends in .7, you have the OTA. If it's earlier than that, you don't.
1.11.651.3
I really believe that one of these updates was killing my GPS.
My navigation is near useless. It takes minutes to lock in and 90% of the time driving its searching for GPS. 10% of the time it actually works. In metro Charlotte that's just silly. Places the Pre and the EVO 4G never had issue.
Is anyone else experiencing a GPS drift when you come to a stop at an intersection?
My GPS displays accurate readings right up to the time I stop at an intersection. Then its starts drifting back, sometimes as much as 200+ ft, (when I am less than 5 - 10 yards from the middle of the intersection).
Not that this is huge deal, but it certainly makes me wonder whats going on.
I have a problem where my map is showing me placed in a bad location (about half a mile to a mile off). It's a consistent problem at my work especially where I am never shown in my office. GPS is turned on. I'm wondering if it's the GPS placing me wrong or if GPS isn't connecting at all and I'm actually connecting to the closest wireless tower. Thanks in advance
What should I be looking for with the GPS Status? Also can some buildings block GPS? I am going to test it out, I have 5 days to do an exchange. Thanks for bringing my thread over
Apparently Sprint doesn't like the building I work in. As soon as I leave it it's accurate to within a couple meters. Strange thing is that my co-workers on Cricket and on Verizon show up accurately inside of the building also....
When you are in the building, do you see the little radar icon in your notification bar? The presence of that icon means your GPS is on.
Now, that icon can be in 2 modes: scanning, and locked-on. When scanning, you'll see the green part flashing. When locked on, the green part stays on and does not blink.
If there's no blinking, you're locked on to actual GPS satellites, and your position should be pretty accurate.
If it's blinking, it means you aren't locked on to enough satellites to get a good position. At that point, the phone may be using other, less accurate means of determining your position.

Help me out: Sign up with Dropbox and we both get 250-500MB extra space. Thanks!
Yeah it just keeps blinking when I'm inside of the building. It's an old building made out of a lot of concrete so I'm not terribly surprised. Dealing with getting a new unit because it doesn't work inside of one building seems....unnecessary. In every other place I've tried it's within 2-5 meters. I will think about it over the next couple days
ok i have searched through all of the threads that are similar to my problem and still have found no answer, so here is my problem.
first of all i use to have the htc evo 4g, i never had any signal problems with this phone, even at my work in a hospital were a lot of people have signal problems. then it broke and the asurion people gave me the htc evo 3d, and now my signal strength is non existant at work and many other places.
so when i am at work i log on to my jobs wifi guest network, so i am able to get online with no problem, but i cant receive calls or texts.
so i use an instant messanger program for some people who also use it, which is not a lot. but there are still some texts that i need to get during the day and i cant. i have tried different apps, some want to give me a new number, i cant do that, and others the people that i'm texting need to be using the same app, so that is pointless because they might as well be on my instant messanger.
so i found on sprint that i can send and receive messages through the internet with zipwhip, which costs $2.99 extra a month, so i downloaded this program to my phone, and my job has it blocked so i cant get on it either during the day, so i am now at the end of my options.
so my question is, am i missing something, or have i done everything there is to do, and im just screwed??
very frustrated since this is not the phone that i orginially bought, and i cant send it back to the insurance company because i dropped it right after i got it and it a little damaged so they will just say it was my fault the phone is acting like this and that i need to pay for the replacement, but that is not the case because this stupid a$$ phone acted like this before i dropped it and it works just fine except for the dumb signal strenght.
HATE THIS PHONE AND I AM ABLE TO UPGRADE ON JULY 1, 2012 WHICH ISN'T LONG, HOWEVER LOOKING AT THE PHONES AVAILABLE I DON'T THINK THEY WILL BE ANY BETTER, I HEARD THE HTC EVO 4G LTE HAS THE SAME SIGNAL PROBLEMS AS THE 3D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
since your handset is used/refurb, it could have issues with the radio.
you should take it into sprint and have them run some diag tests on the device. again reading over this thread will get you familiar with what others did with similar issues.

Well sorry to hear about your issues, but I will try my best to guide you the best I know, you could either try getting Sprint to give you a Airave for free, and set it up at work with your WiFi there, hoping that you are not traveling throughout the hospital, or you can install a few apps that give you similar talking like the old Nextel service Push to talk, one is called, TILK, I think another one is called Hey Tell, see if those work for you, but the other parties would also have to have those apps installed on their phone

GPS Problem: Most apps can't lock on location, only Google Maps can
As the title suggests I have a problem with GPS...
Foursquare can't find my location, Sportstracker can't find my location, Locations can't find my location... Even GPS status can't find my location, sometimes he finds and locks to 3 or 4 satellites, but that's it...
But when I open Google Maps, he finds my exact location in a second...
Can anyone explain this to me and tell me how to fix this??

Try downloading an app called GPS Status from the Play store, and try to lock in your GPS with that and then test your GPS again and see if it works
I assume you are on ICS with Stock Rom and not rooted ??

Not rooted and as I wrote GPS status can't find my location... Sometimes it locks to 3 or 4 satellites, but still can't find location... And sometimes it can't even find any satellites... But Google Maps works just fine and finds my exact location everytime...

I am sorry I missed that, well I would take it in to a Sprint store, they can check it on there system, this was a know issue early on in the release of the EVO, I will try to find the thread and post it back here so you can go through it to see if there is anything relevant to you, if not I would stop by Sprint and have them check the hardware.

Ok, the update is, that outside, everything is working fine, but when I'm inside Foursquare and other apps can't find my location, Maps are working fine every time... I also found what's causing this... Maps are using other ways of finding my location then just GPS, that's why they have no problem locking on my location... For some reason, other apps use only GPS...
I have been using EVO 3D and apps like Foursquare and Sportstracker for a year or so and never had a problem locking on my location in seconds, even when I was inside... It has to be some kind of sw problem, because Maps work fine everytime, other apps only outside...

Sprint continues their EVO line of Android Phones with what is certainly a first for them - a 3D phone. The HTC EVO 3D boasts 3D technology on a beautiful 4.3-inch screen and get this: you don't even need glasses to enjoy the 3D experience!
