Default Where to download 3D movies

Is there a way to download 3D movies from the phone? Or do they have to be downloaded on your computer then copied over? (if on the computer where do you download them from?)

Lots of good ones on YouTube. Search for 3D Maestro and Go Pro 3D. They will lead you to lots of good stuff.

Legally, the ways to do that will be through an online service such as HTC Watch or Blockbuster, or by making legal copies of movies you own (we have a Handbrake thread with tips and info on how to do that).

Details on downloading free copies that bypass copyright owners cause no end of trouble - to avoid the inevitable legal issues, we can't condone discussing that.

Thanks, I forgot about the blockbuster app. Now is there a way to filter the movies so only 3d ones show or is there any identifier to know if they are in 3d?

Has anyone used that Blockbuster App yet? How is it, how much is it and how much 3d content is available through it? Thanks!

I'm interested to know this as well. I can't find any setting or filter to do this. I can't believe they're charging $15 to buy a movie for your phone though...

I see an average around $4 to rent and $15 to buy. I haven't been able to figure out what sort of 3D content is available.

With all the 3D movies and TV's, it would be nice if Netflix started streaming 3D

I just downloaded Battle LA last night from blockbuster, and it is not in 3d. however, it supposedly was not recorded in 3d because of all the shaky hand camera work. So I too am still looking for a cheaper way to find out what movies are 3d, and which ones aren't. What the help is taking so long to get this figured out? Lol

It really does suck to not have that kind of content available on Watch or Blockbuster. When Sprint and HTC designed this phone, you would think they would have put forth a joint venture with those companies to provide full length 3D movies. I mean, if Sprint is going to feature their apps in their advertising, and make it a standard feature on the phone, the least they could have done was to have them make a few 3D movies available for rental or purchase. Knowing me, I'm certain I would have bought at least two or three 3D movies by now.

This is going to take time being that there is one 3d phone from HTC and sprint that hasn't been out for a month yet.

I bought a x box kinect when it came out and I'm still waiting for some new games to come. Patience people...

You're probably right, but being in the industry a career ago, that's just bad marketing. And for some EVO 3D owners, probably a deal breaker for them to be repeat customers for the next generation of HTC 3D phones, if HTC should continue to make them.

That's like selling a car without the gas in it... Someone on Sprint's side should have planned ahead, and thought out what available content and apps could be applied to this phone, since the 3D feature is their main selling point... That's all I'm saying.

Maybe they figure people will play with the camera, camcorder features and 3D games long enough to forget about the other 3D features the phone is capable of. But seeing as that it's an entertainer's device, I don't see why they might assume that. I just hope we will start to see 3D apps coming along soon. The revolving home screen carousel or weather animations would have been a start.

Don't get me wrong though, I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this phone. I just wish there was more exploration into the 3D feature it has.

Not sure if you noticed, but if you click "recommended" on the lower RH corner of WATCH, you will get a list of movies you can either rent or buy.

Watch is one of my default widget screens, so I see the new releases and "recommends" on a daily basis. Unfurtunately, none of those movies are in 3D. Which kind of goes back to my original point.

Well I ended up getting the 32gb class10 micro SD card this weekend, and decided to upload a couple of digital movies that I converted to the MP4 format. Nothing in 3D, but HD quality movies that I've enjoyed over the years. I'm really hoping I get a hold of Avatar in 3D, and a couple of other 3D movies. In the mean time, me and my coworkers are enjoying my new smartphone quite a bit.

I know Vudu has a streaming service that lets you rent and buy movies. It has a 3D section where you can find lots of 3D movies too.

HTC and Sprint should have worked something out with Vudu to get an app on this phone.

Here is the link to Vudu's 3D section. It's the only place I know of at the moment that streams 3D movies.

No you can't. At least I am not seeing it on mine.

I think some company had an exclusive on Avatar 3D so you can't get it from anyone else yet (assuming their exclusive hasn't expired yet). I think you had to buy a bluray player or tv or something form them and they would include the Avatar bluray or something.

So I found a few Amazon 3D for sale on Amazon, and they all say "Panasonic exclusive Avatar 3D promotional Blu-ray disc. Not available in stores."

So that must be when the Panasonic exclusive agreement ends. In any case, saying the poster could buy it from HTC Watch was incorrect info. The fact is right now the only way to get it is to buy a Panasonic bluray player or Panasonic tv and get it from them at that time, or buy it from someone who got it with their Panasonic bluray player or tv. Nobody is streaming it though (legally).

I have quite a few full length 3D movies on my device already. In total, I have about 32 movies that I've collected weekly since I've bought the 3DVO. 7 from YT3D, 22 recent 3D motion pictures, and the rest are regular 2D movies that I just like. It helps having my 32gig class 10 micro SD card, and I still have about 6.5 gigs of free space left.

Next on the list is Thor 3D, X-Men First Class 3D, Priest 3D, and a couple of IMAX 3D movies.

I just bought my phone yesterday and I don't even get the free Green Hornet movie because everytime I attempt to play it it says the promotion has expired. I am becoming discouraged about finding real 3D movies to stream. Watch has only 3 and they aren't even for rent, they are $27 a peace. I'm not paying $27 to see a movie on my phone. How dumb would that be?

Not on Android devices. Why bring it up if it doesn't even work on Android devices. I believe this is the Android forum, am I right?

Because, as I said, that is the only place I know of that streams 3D movies.

Rather than take issue with me for providing information, why don't you take issue with them for not having an Android app?

Go email Vudu and tell them you want an Android app...

From buying them

Before posting like this, read the site rules and regulations. Make sure if by full movies, you don't mean copyright protected stuff for free

We'll assume he's talking legal locations (because otherwise I'd have to close this as it's against the rules).

Doesn't amazon sell them in a digital format that will work on the phones? Perhaps the Android Market as well.

Default answer to 3D media

there is a group on facebook that offers a free service of making 3D movies once you verify you own the copy its pretty cool. Search Facebook for the group.

It;s possible to watch 3D movies on the phone (provided that the source movie has a 3D version), but not without needing to do a bit of conversion work beforehand (not that difficult once you have the process down).

I believe that circumventing the copy protection of DVDs and/or blu-ray is illegal EVEN if you own it. I don't want this thread to debate that issue. For sure, this site doesn't condone the discussion of the cirvumvention of any copy protection. That said, for general conversion of 3D movies/video to the E3D:

There's a piece of software called Handbrake that is useful for converting videos to play back on the phone. For 3D videos, you need to start with a video source that is 3D (obviously) but also in a side-by-side format (aka SBS). Anaglyph 3D won't work. Well, they will display in anaglyph, which means you'd need the cyan/red glasses, which defeats the purpose of putting it on the E3D, since we want to use the AUTOstereoscopic property of the screen.

Google "Handbrake Evo 3D" for some detailed steps on how to get the most ideal conversion to the Evo 3D. Most important settings are to get the width to 960px and to constrain the aspect ratio. That will give you the best resolution for the E3D's screen.

The E3D doesn't detect 3D videos that you make yourself, but when you play the video, there's a setting that allows you to force it to show in 3D. That's what you want to use.

FYI, it's totally legal to make a copy of your own DVD/Bluray. You are obviously not allowed to share that copy with anyone else, but it's totally legal to make your own copy (which you obviously have to circumvent the copy protection in order to make a copy).

As for me, i always gain 3D videos or movies from Vudu, Sony PlayStation Network and Comcast Xfinity 3D for my newly bought LG 3D Optimus. In addition, sometimes i also turn my DVD movies to 3D movies with a 3D turing program.
