Default Sound not loud enough

I looked back a few pages and didn't see anything to answer my question. Also didn't see much online either.
I am a newb and I work in a pretty loud enviorment. I could usually hear my old phone okay but not this Evo 3D. I have the volume pegged but I can never hear it when a call, email or text message comes in. Is there any way to make it louder? Step by step would be appreciated.
Also I noticed that the phone can tell if it is in a pocket, how does it do this?
Thanks

the speaker is low. everyone knows this now. you are not alone.

if you want change how the phone behaves whilst in your pocket, go to your sound settings and either check or uncheck the setting that refers to when its in your pocket. also you have others settings in there...

experiment to taste...

I have the volume pegged as well as selecting the loudest ringer that I can find in the choices. Not sure what they did different from the 4G because my son had that phone and I could hear that ringer three rooms down the hall. I keep missing calls because I just don't hear it. Thanks for the help. I hope this might be something they can fix with a update. I looked back a few pages but didn't see anything mentioned about poor ringer volume, so sorry if it was a repeat request.
Thanks

The media volume could be louder, but the rings and notifications seem fine

The volume on this phone is definitely low, noticeably lower than the 4g

i think as they made the phone thinner, etc. compromises had to be made. the speaker is most likely smaller due to all the components packed into a tiny space. this issue was with the touch pro2 and there was a mod done to the back cover to increase the speaker volume "throw". perhaps someone will do the same in this case..

My guess is the light sensor; if it is dark it assumes it is in the pocket

There is a tool you can buy off the andriod market called volume+ that will allow you to boost the volume a bit. I use it on the asus transformer. If you boost it too high you will get a bit of static/distortion (nothing is free). Unfortunately I cannot tell you if this app will be effective on the evo3d but if you check the reviews periodically I'm sure someone will try it.

There is sound DSP management or something built into Gingerbread, allowing for the use of Equalizers and such. One that I'm using on the CM7 Gingerbread on my Nook Color is Volume+

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.TEST.android.lvh&feature=search_res ult

Apparently it may or may not work on our phones --- yet, but it seems like a bug issue that may be fairly straightforward to rectify when the dev has a chance.

Perhaps on the of the other similar apps may work instead.

With Gingerbread you can use an EQ that will effect all noises on the phone, I like this one called Equalizer

Just enable the EQ (I think it's enabled by default) and slide the sliders all the way to the right to max the sound out...maybe that will help.

I've been using it for a couple days now and definitely makes a difference. Doesn't distort the sound much either

The developer posted an update that now includes support for the EVO 3D, that I saw on market.android.com but I want to see some 3D user reviews before I try it.

Yep as posted in one of my threads in this section, I also use the EQ and has made a difference also, at first I was not sure, but now I am convinced, I as have a link in this thread that will take you to a thread I started over at the HTC forum, and many peeps have been posting there now, hope they keep posting and HTC will read, as of now not one word from HTC support team at all.

Guys and Gals, please post your volume issues, click HERE

The thing is, have you heard the FM radio volume on this thing? It is LOUD. So the speaker is definitely capable of handling higher volume levels...

I didnt care for any of the factory ring tones, I use Zedge for my ringtones, I think its best to find a loud ringtone, something that gets your attention. And Go SMS texting has a way to customize how many times the phone vibrates which makes it easier to feel it ring in your pocket.

Default Holy Crap. help with volume

Just got my Evo 3d today. The Volume is so low that I can not hear it in my pocket. Is there a fix to this? If not, this thing will be going back for a Photon.
Please help as I want to keep my new phone.

What exactly am I looking for here? I am brand new to Android. I am not very tech savey, but trying to learn as I go. Is there an easy step by step to help increase the volume. Sorry I sound so stupid here. I am jumping ship from Apple where it was all easy but boring

Hi and welcome to Android There is a link in this thread to a developer's website who has created an app that will increase the volume. Once you register to his site, use your phone's browser to log onto his site and download the app to your phone. It is called Volume + Sound Boost. You don't have to be rooted to use it although the dev recommends a different kernel. You must be on Android 2.3.4. and it will work on the stock ROM. Just be careful that you don't turn it up too much because you could blow your speaker.

This is what you will want to download... the one that says Current Market Version. Once you see in the notification bar that the download is complete, slide the notification bar down and tap on it to install.

The Photon was a Kick Ass Phone...Some ways far superior to the 3D...But I had the Photon for three weeks...Too many freezin issues...No freezin issues at all for me on my 3D and I run a ton of apps with everything runnin off my 4000 mah Battery...

But once the Prime gets here the 3D will be history and on EBay for sale...
Epic 4G is the phone to have for now...But I settled for the 3D...

Check out Flossy Carters reviews on all 3 phones on You Tube...

Ill try it. Thanks so much. I like the HTC UI and the evo so that's why I picked this phone up. My Wife got the Photon today. Call quality is most important to her..And she has something about only using Motorola for some reason.

Did you enable pocket mode under phone settings? This setting maxes out the volume when the phone is in your pocket.

All I can tell you is that it works great for me. That combined with the HTC music player hack with Beats audio improves listening through headphones a lot. The reason I posted the link to get to the dev's site is because apparently for the time being the app is not in the Market.

Simply would be nice of HTC would acknowledge there is a volume issue and offer a patch to fix the issue. no brainer to me.

True--but at least we have people out there who have the know-how and desire to take these issues on and fix it for the rest of us. I actually think the devs would be very disappointed if all phones worked perfectly. They wouldn't have anything to fix!!

There are apps in there that can help alleviate the problem until htc fixes it.

Your not telling us something we haven't discussed here already, the point is this has been an issue since day one, and something should have been done by now, and the best part is that HTC does not acknowledge there is a volume issue.

So, I'm not rooted at all, so Stock ROM, Android 2.3.4..can i use this volume+ app as long as i dont turn it up too high? like between 0 and +8 on the speaker settings? for those who have used this app already, if my issue is mainly music through speakers being too quiet + mostly text notifications being too quiet, what setting would you recommend for max volume on speaker settings?

Thanks, in the future, would you mind posting the accompanying link to sites. Androidcentral blocks links for non registered users and I have no need to register on another forum.

I've done as much peak and tweaking as I can to mine, and though it HAS made it slightly louder, it's all I'm gonna get out of this.

I mean, really. Out of a 1mm x 6mm SLIT, how are you going to get any MORE out of it? It's about the only thing that annoys me with the 3D.

Angry Faulty headphone port design

I found the issue when I closely observe the headphone jack port. The headphone pin is not going all the way in and it is not touching the last point. So it is causing various issues including not able to get full volume and other issues mentioned in this post.

I bought Evo 3D a week back. I cant get the full volume out of the headphones. When I connect same head phones to iPhone I get better sound.

I even tried with bose headphones. When I connect them to my HTC Evo 3D I cannot feel the base at all. This sucks as I love music and with out good quality of music there is not point of having smart phone.

This is a major design issue fo EVO 3D. We cant solve this issue with just software upgrades or any music players. I dont know if HTC refunds my money back for this wrong design.

Use equalizer, it is excellent, much better then volume+ IMHO, I had both, and found Volume+ to have way too many options with the sound, and I had no clue what tose the settings on, equalizer is a hell of a lot easier to use, and it works a lot better, I can hear my phone loud and clear from another room, highly recommend it!

I'm with Don on this one. I tried Equalizer and found that Volume+ was significantly better at least for me. I've posted my settings in here if you want to base on those. They work great!

The description for Volume+ says it's most likely not going to work if you're not using CyanogenMod. Is it working for you guys on 3vo?

I tried this as well and noticed that the EQ only cuts the frequencies and doesn't boost them, thus not making the volume any higher. Hopefully somebody gets the Beats software and makes an apk out of it

Weird, I've been using EQ for a while and it helps a lot; I find myself turning the volume down when I'm in the office since it's too loud with the settings set to high.

Here is another app you all can try, and report back, Volume Rocker allows users to easily switch between audio profiles

Default Is there a way to make my music sound louder?

When I listen to music I have to have the sound 3/4 of the way or higher at the gym. Is there a way to boost sound volume ? Perhaps that I can flash in recovery or an app ?
