I got it, too. I'm wondering what its for; Google was surprisingly unhelpful.

Based on what I've seen it is an HTC update, not Google.

Personal Communications Service - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The second one therefore likely decodes into something like Sprint PCS Corporate 4G. I'll see what I can find out, no promises tho.

The first one is minor, it's a widget update.

Did anyone notice an increase in speaker volume after this update? (some other folks reported that) - I don't see the update yet (tried manually), so can't confirm.

I've done it. Very small, as reported. Two separate downloads.

Added later: the rest of the info here was well intentioned but wrong.....

The only Widget I see that I hadn't noticed before is identified as an Android Widget, it is called "txt msg away message". It's a little 1x1 widget of the green robot either standing alert or sleeping with "zzzzz" coming from him. When you click on it, it switches between them and tells you "text away message on" or "off". I haven't tried it, but I assume when activated it responds to texts with a message that you are occupied. If you open it in applications, it gives an opportunity to input a custom away message.

It may be that this was here before and I'd missed it, but I don't think so. Apologies if I'm misreporting. I suppose it might have been installed with Android 2.3.4, and I just didn't notice it till I went looking for a new widget.

I can't tell anything about the other update, but I don't have a corporate email account on my phone, and seldom use 4G. So that may not be surprising.

Again, I'll dine on crow if this has been here for a few days and I just didn't notice it till now.

Well I can tell you I don't have the the update, so I checked to see if that app is there and it is not.

Text Msg Away was the free app a few days on Amazon - possibly came from there?

I can't tell, that's where I got mine...

Ok - got it.

Go to a 1x1 free on your desktop, select HTC widgets, you now have 81 instead of 80 - the new one is called Corp 4G.

I don't have 4G, so I'm not sure what it might do.

While we're here - what's up with the Sprint wallet (Sprint Mobile in the app drawer)? Has that always been there?

I have a sneaking suspicion earlymon is right. I am not going to eat crow yet. But I'll drop by the store and pick some up on the way home so it will be on hand if needed.

Added later: I just checked my Amazon Apps, and this app is among them with the same widget. I will dine on crow tonight.

Default New maintenance update EVO 3d 08-26-11

So i just downloaded the brand new maintenance update for my EVO 3d and i noticed there was no reboot required and one of the 2 updates listed that installed were Sprint corp 4g....well if u search under widgets after update you have a widget that has Sprint 4g then a small divider with corp 4g below on 1 widget u can place it on any screen.. but it seems as if It's disabled!? It won't work no matter how many times you click it?! Any info on the general purpose of this update would be appreciated I'm very curious :-) thanks lol

Yes, the Sprint Wallet has always been there. I confirmed on my phone (have not done this or the other recent HTC update yet).

I keep getting a "temporary space full" error message that says maybe I need to restart the phone when I try and download it. I have tons of space (32gb SD card), space on the phone (more than half is open), and I have tried removing all my widgets and stopping all tasks...nothing works, resets, nothing...

What is going on? The only thing that isn't stock is my SD card. I read another forum with a few people saying they had this problem to with no answers.

Please help!

I am running sense 3.0, no launchers, no rooting, none of its...straight evo 3d as HTC intended.

Try doing a factory reset, wipe dalvik cache?

A factory reset would be semi-scary I'd think. I'd lose all my texts and many other things right?

What is dalvik cache?

There's a temporary cache that clears on restart of the phone, as I recall.

If that doesn't work, try a battery pull to clear any stuck bits.

After that, all I can offer is that MyBackup Pro eases the pain of a factory data reset.

Now I am confused, is this an HTC app/widget update or a HTC maintenance SW update, I didn't get it because I had the OTA updates disabled, is it safe to download if we are rooted, or best not too?

That widget came with the last update. I still have not updated to this new one yet today. But that widget does nothing. Does it do anything with this new update? I am referring to the Corp 4G widget.

Yep, my GPS widget is screwed up too. Tried removing it and then putting it back on, but it does the same thing. Just replaced it with the new HTC battery widget.

Also, I don't know if this is normal, but if I have 4G on and reboot it is off on restart.

I did a few restarts and a battery pull. Crap. I saw two other people post about this in about a 10 post thread on another site. I was thinking this problem was a bit more widespread...maybe not. Reset...ugh. Thanks for the help.

Default My experience: 4G speeds improved

Was putting off the update in hopes of finding more info on it first... but, I went ahead this evening and my 4G speeds have increased significantly..

At home, with a "fair" connection according to the 4G settings screen, I was getting around 2000kbps, sometimes it would spike up to 3000kbps.
After update, same location in my house, same "fair" connection, but speeds are now consistently in the 9000kbps range down and ~1400kbps up.

Just thought I'd throw that out there, for those still wondering... Also, my GPS widget seems to still be working (I noticed some people saying that it was broken with the update). Atleast, I *think* the GPS widget is working.. it does seem to be clicking ON and OFF a *LOT* faster than before, but the GPS indicator on the top of the screen also switches, so I think it's working fine.
Haven't noticed any other changes, but haven't poked around much either.. -Bob

I took the 2 updates in the OP, didn't bother my root at all - just an app update, not a system update.

Sorry if that widget was there before, guess I hadn't noticed.

From what I can gather, it is either a new widget or an update to it and radio as I read here: Sprint HTC EVO 3D Gets OTA Update, New Radio And A Widget .

Has anyone seen an appreciable difference with the radio update? I have not applied it yet.

anyone dload this update? I am on my 28th day with my photon, the radio of the evo 3d was my biggest problem, so if this solves that, I may go back to it, just dont want to chance it because my photon has excellent reception and call quality, but I would be lying if I said I didn't miss htc sense

If this did in fact improve the radio...I wonder if those of us that did changed the vocoder settings need to revert back? Anyone have any ideas?

rule of thumb,

if your voice calls are still acceptable to you then there is no need to do anything.

if you are curious, then revert back to stock and test.

There was no radio update here.

The GPS widget isn't broken per se, but some have likely tangled cache area(s) causing issues. More likely than not, the actual problem began with the system OTA and this is a symptom.

Hope this helps!

Update:Apparently the update doesn't contain a new radio but a software patch that fixes the way the phone handles signal in general and 4G to be more specific, thus the improvement in signal.
I only got an average of 4M at home before the update. Since then it's been in the 9M range, so in the end I don't care what happened, only that it did happen.

My last test:

I'm not sure what you mean by this... are you saying there's a solution to fix the GPS widget?

For me it says 4G is still on, but 3G shows up as live connection and 4G has an "!" next to it on left side of notifications and my speeds are that of 3G. Hitting it again gets me back to 4G.

Is the 3G widget causing trouble for anyone? I performed the hard reset after installing the GB 2.3.4 update and these updates (and had to reinstall these updates again because the reset wiped these out). But now, the 3G widget has trouble turning 3G off.

When I go outside of my home's wifi range, I usually turn off wifi and turn 3g on using the mobile network widget. But for some reason, I'm unable to turn 3g off (or on) using the widget anymore. (I can go to settings, wireless networks and turn 3g off/on from there).
Has anyone else run into this issue? If so, any suggestions on how to fix this?

(I did try to remove the widget and reinstalled it from htc widgets - didn't make a difference)

True, and that works just fine. I was wondering if anyone else had noticed the problem with the 3g widget? I noticed that it is having trouble even turning on the 3G too (using the widget). When I go to settings/wireless networks, it shows that it couldn't connect because service is unavailable?!? But right then, if I uncheck and check mobile network from that screen, it connects just fine.

(This problem started for me only after I did the hard reset and applied these two updates, and re-installed some of the apps that I already had. The only new app I added was gameloft's Nova. Other than that, all stayed the same)
