I don't understand why they phrased it this way. Anybody have any input?
Well when you buy a phone from sprint, it's already very different than if you buy the same phone from verizon. They all have their own bloatware and garbage (and on the rare occasion, useful things) they want to throw onto your phone for varying reasons.
None of them would be very happy if a new OS came in, tabula rasa, without them getting their fingers in the jar
This guy was good, and he fooled a great deal of people for a long time. But even toward the end when he clearly had no credibility with most of us, there were still some people strongly defending him and giving him the benefit of the doubt.
But it all comes out in the wash, as EarlyMon likes to say. In 8 days, the last of his predictions will come to pass. What do you think? Will we have ICS next week?

LOL, that made my day. I remember that guy. Hey lets see in 8 days. PS i will not unroot to take ICS
Well, he was right about us having ICS by Nov 23rd. We do have ICS. You just have to compile it from source, build a kernel to run it, and flash it. See? Easy! You'll have ICS by next week...No problem!
Wait, what? Even CM7 doesn't have everything working, yet? Pfft! Semantics!

Ice cream on demo EVO 3d phones at walmart/Sprint stores?!
My friend that works at Walmart in the cell phone department told me about an hour ago he was at work (Walmart) and there demo EVO 3d got an update to ice cream today!? So that must mean HTC put their finishing touches on it now sprints doing theirs but my ? Is why would the demo phones at walmart/Sprint get the update cause the general public can easily view such phones?! And how Long do we think before sprint will push the update out to us?! And while he was telling me this his Droid incredible 2 on Verizon got an update to android 4.08.... Is that ice cream!? He's obviously through Verizon but still !?!? If anyone has any idea or information it would be greatly appreciated and this is 100% serious no joke to get everyone all riled up!!! I swear this information is 100% true!!!!

I'm not joking around..I swear on everything I love this is what my friend Brian told me and he is very reliable! I wouldn't make something stupid up like this why would I? I know there's a lot of idiots that do that but I'm not one of them.. I only use this for information about sprint/android/my phone not to cause a whole heep of drama or lies trust me!! I just wondered if there was any credibility behind this anywhere else? Because in Erie pa there is as far as I know I haven't physically seen it myself but I'm going to have him send me a screen shot of it from that demo EVO 3d tomorrow!
A screen shot of the system info non rooted and I'm also going to check this out for myself because it seems hard to believe to me as well i just figured id throw it out there to see if anyone else has seen or heard about such things?!

It's not unheard of to see a phone here or there get an early leak of the latest OS build. But those are usually not seen for a few months after the OS is released. I remember the frenzy over Gingerbread with the DX.
But, often enough, someone does claim to have the newest build on their phone and offers nothing to back it up. So most forum users just don't believe it until there are pics to be scrutinized or leaked builds to be flashed.
Personally, I'm in the 'it's too early' camp. I wouldn't even hope to see a leaked version until early to mid January.

Okay well my friend came into my work this morning and he told me that, that specific EVO 3d demo is FROZE!! he did a battery pull and a reset and It's froze 100% on the firmware version screen and the sprint rep is suppose to come today and swap that phone out for the photon?! And he called his sprint rep about that issue and the rep said "yeah i know" when he told him it was froze!? So Idk if that release was by accident or what!? But this seems strange to me..but things like this have happened before where the website for Verizon, sprint said a phone had a newer firmware with release of phone than it did and it magically changed back to the old firmware When a new firmware was set to release so Idk!?

Okay well the update on that EVO 3d I mentioned ... Apparently the sprint rep came last night and bought the phone back and hadto pay full price!! And i got word that Walmart aka other retailers that sell cell phones (radioshack) etc... Pay for the phones and just receive a discount from sprint, Verizon,at&t etc... So basically the sprint rep came there last night paid full price to pick up the demo phone that somehow got upgraded to ice cream and now the demo EVO 3d with ice cream is gone!! take from this what you will but in my opinion because this is 100% true it shouldn't be too much longer before we get ice cream!!

I have seen previews of ICS on youtube and read about it. I do however wonder if anyone has an idea of what features will/wont be integrated with sense?

I just don't understand why wait till 2012 when Sprint clearly won't be getting the g nexus? So what's the hold up.. they have had ice cream probably since the public release if not before so why wait?

They won't release it vanilla, they're working on implementing Sense into it
The Following User Says Thank You to strat1227 For This Useful Post:
oh, oh... and Carrier IQ too! Along with all the other crap that they simply HAVE to integrate into the stock ROM!
UGH
I personally love sense. Much more than I do vanilla flavored stuff. I'm sure CarrierIQ will not be integrated, that company is lucky it doesn't trade publicly (that I know of, might have a parent company).
I'm stuck on HBOOT 1.50.000 so I won't be able to upgrade until they release ICS OTA or unless Revolutionary guys figure out how to back us down to 1.40 or 1.30 or get past 1.50. I have read too many issues with the HTC way of doing it.
I just want an updated Swype on the 3V0 along with no blurry contact pictures.

The blurry contact photos are from syncing facebook contacts via the Facebook app. If you use "Facebook for HTC" to sync FB contacts then the pics will be fine.

Thanks but that isn't the issue that myself and the majority of people I know using Android encounter. The blurry pictures come from people who backup their contacts to gmail which is downsizing the picture to the default size on the web browser gmail. Therefore, when the picture pops up as a phone call it is larger than the gmail size is therefore causing it to be blown up and pixelated/blurry.

I wonder if Htc will keep much of what makes ICS good. They make a lot of mods to Android, so I'm curious. I wonder if they'll keep Android Beam when they put out NFC phones.
Well when it does finally come (i could care less when) i just hope it has more ice cream then sense. If that makes any sense? :O
If I had to make a guess...middle of March at the earliest. I'm sure they will throw Sense all over ICS. From what I have seen, I'm sure Sense will be UGLY. I just want the new version of Swype.
I really hope they make a good blend with ICS, I like Sense but its becoming a bit boring, I'm SO tired of the clock/weather widget... lol. I really hope they keep the app draw launcher very much so similar to the one in stock ICS.

If they wait until June 30 that's Damn near a whole year since ics was officially released that's rediculous and let's be honest by then all current phones up for available ics update will be "outdated" by then!! Your crazy if you think June 30 and so is Sprint if they wait that long to release that update!! Christ by then there might be a bigger and better galaxy nexus from Google so I highly doubt June 30th!!!
I prefer to hope for the best and expect the worst.
Fine, early 2012? March 31, 11:59 PST.
My previous phone was the Epic, and that didn't see Gingerbread until 5 months after I got my Evo 3D, which either came with Gingerbread or got it shortly after. (can't remember which)
I always assume HTC is better than Samsung for updates, but for some reason these delays seem to love to follow me, so I'm not going to let myself get caught up in the rumor waiting game. Not to mention Sprint seems to create an extra layer of delays on top of the manufacturer ie Sprint ID.
Given the proprietary 3D hardware, I'm guessing that'll buy at least a month's extra delay for the official stable ICS release.
I'd be more interested to see if or when Sense 3.5 comes out.

You're coming from a Samsung explains things. lol. HTC is pretty good about updates. It seems Samsung is not from what most of us have seen. And yes the EVO 3D came with Gingerbread. As a matter of fact it came with Gingerbread 2.3.3. It wasn't very long until it went to 2.3.4. HTC is the best IMO when it comes to updates and maintenance fixes. HTC will have it for us soon. But, that being said, Sprint on the other hand could hold things up a little adding there junk to ICS.
Sprint continues their EVO line of Android Phones with what is certainly a first for them - a 3D phone. The HTC EVO 3D boasts 3D technology on a beautiful 4.3-inch screen and get this: you don't even need glasses to enjoy the 3D experience!
